When all this Covid 19 kicked off i had booked two flights up country for Songkhran
we were all set and then they cancelled all buses and then flights, this week they
lifted restrictions and i had a look at the domestic flights, most where 3 x times the
usual price, they say in both airports and planes they will be using social distancing
and every other seat on flights would be empty, it looks like the passengers would
be paying, as the return of the money i had already paid for flights was being disputed
i rang the call center and within ten mins i had two flights at the old prices....no fee's
no extra's, so Nok Air went up a notch in my book ,as not all are taking this path and
some are even disputing refunds for flights cancelled in Europe,
full face masks gloves will be the attire and maybe a couple of weeks chilling in the
village (94 F) but we have laid down supplies...and as an old mate used to say
''when you'r marching your not fighting''

sorry i got a message that most of the restrictions have been extended for one month and everyone was talking on TVF about the relaxing of restrictions.
that included the Alcohol ban( that would stop songkran crowds and the beer ect)
the fact that the Songkran holiday finished a week ago seems to have been forgotten
but hey we might get all the shopping malls reopened? like all the markets? but no bars no beaches, i can see the Tourists flying back by the plane load, to get to the shopping malls and markets...amazing Thailand ...but i am due a holiday as i thin too much when i try and fathom what is going on here.

Have been in touch with Udon Thani Airport and the number for Savanhaphumi A.O.T
and on both occasions we were told there is no special requirements for travelers from
one province to another , at least between these two, just passports or ID, and your own face mask.
i also believe they give you paperwork to fill in (maybe a new type TM6 Covid-19 ?)
the wife confirmed this after having a chat with them (Thai) after me.
but no restrictions apart from new seating and no drinks but could hardly be called restrictions.
more like requirements. and if that is incorrect someone needs to contact the A.O.T

just looked at a few posts, if i need to go to the Airport in Bangkok do i need paperwork as well as flight details and ID as i will be coming from Jomtien and it looks like i might have to go through a check point or will the taxi driver sort it out.
-
i cannot help with BKK to Jomtien but i have inquired over Jomtien to BKK and then flying to Udon Thani, we rang the Tourist Authority BKK who said you need nothing but your ID, the wife seemed quite happy so we will probably give it a go after 1st may. as this is TiT you may consider a double check but the lady did say you only need ID and no other paperwork when only domestic travel.
i have also seen that if you want to enter the lock down in Pattaya town you do need extra paperwork.

Why "can't" you congregate at the beach, but you "can" at any Street Market in East Pattaya which is far more busy than the beach? especially the market in Soi Siam Country Club
a quick trip to the market on soi wat boon and its that packed the car park is full, so the late crowd have to park across the road ....social distance???? most do not seem to understand, but if you have a stroll along the beach (exercise) and you stop for a rest ...a year in Jail...is it some kind of joke?
called into a laundry yesterday four teenagers a man and his wife, and i had to signal to the lady that i did not want to join the scrum, she eventually came out to serve me. if they impose these rules to locals the Jails will be full by the time it gets dark.

Lol, yes I saw that too, Boris used that superman analogy in free trade, how the UK was superman about to liberate the world, while he was begging the EU to buy his haddock all the while...
The man is funny, you gotta give him that.
Love that guy.
He seemed to be saying by him going down the '' herd immunity'' road and the people of the UK Would be paying the price for the ''superman tag'' you know let your Gran die and you loose less money..but not very funny for Gran.
do many other Tories think like that?

No, the UK didn't decide on a policy of herd immunity. I don't know why the anti-Boris brigade keep wheeling out this lie.
i just stumbled across a video of Boris but there is no link, and i do not think TV will allow me to air it.
they are calling it a smoking gun? Boris talks about a superman type country ? that stands alone and goes into the phone box and comes out a super hero ??? it does not look good for any one involved ?
if it is admissible i think he could go to Jail, but he was or seemed to be playing out some crazy strategy, but i was shocked at his words and what they seemed to imply...i doubt any advisers came up with this stuff. for his and our sake i hope it is some kind of joke. unbelievable.
( had friend request on Facebook and the video came up a bit further on)

The Times article you are referring to is riddled with contradictions and inconsistencies. It is sensationalising for the sake of it. Articles like this bank on people not reading thoroughly enough, or researching, and falling for the sound bites.
maybe he was discussing tactics with ''The liar from the Whitehouse'' as i heard he had time to contact him, That showed where and who was important to him ''Cobra'' who is ''Cobra'' and now here we get it was everyone else's fault, only needs a bit of orange makeup and they could be twins.he has a lot of his mates moves already.
an absolute B**LS UP and i wont mention the health minister Hancock's Idiotic requests, another clown.
any bets against The USA and UK end up 1st and 2nd for Deaths in the world, but it will be not their fault , that is if we ever get the correct figures, as it needs a public inquiry.

A few days ago saw free food handout Jomtien beach, near sunset. Police were there, but did nothing to separate people aka social distancing.
i was there from before the police box, to second road and into the complex hundreds of people
no spaces, same at soi watt boon market like a massive scrum, police never bothered just looked on
the day after three Farangs arrested and fined 30k each drinking at 6pm in their condo, as usual two
setts of laws.

This is like a lot of stuff out here Illegal you bet, and a bad reflection of Thailand and its people.
but never sorted by the people in Authority ? because if they do that there is no money in it for
any one, so 18 years later we are still getting these video's, You would have to dress like a china
man to stand any chance of a fair deal with the scammers, surely every person who earns a living
with TAT is in on this scam, just by turning a blind eye to this, they do not fear the video because
they might get fined/jailed/shouted at!!! they fear it might warn other Farangs of the real L O Scams

still trying to find out, is it illegal to buy Alcohol or Illegal to drink it ?
as the only law i have found is about drinking in a motor vehicle
does any one have a quote?
i heard a rumor from were we live that three lads were arrested for
drinking beer in one of their houses (a laundry) and they say they got
40,000 baht fine each.
but surely you cannot be charged for drinking beer in your own house.

Hey, I know that one! So you contact them after 45 days and tell them about it, and they say you waited too long, these things must be settled within 14 days (or some such).
"But I contacted you on (insert date here)"
"We have no record of that."
Best of luck with this mess.
i purchase most things on my UK credit card they are normally Quite good and i ask for
Charge Back if they mess them about (hopefully they do) then it becomes a <deleted>-take and
they have come good twice before and i had one were they never replied back but that was
not a charge back, the Airlines are taking the <deleted>. as they do nowadays.
-
i have similar but not AA,
I booked Nok Air for one trip they ''Suspended flight'' and have not been keen on refunding my money
i have recently had an Email from Chirayut [email protected] basically saying i can get
a refund after 45 working days ? (this was after messing me about so i involved my CC issuing bank and all of a sudden they replied)
my other flights were with Thai Lion Air who when i contacted they told me to contact my travel agent ? i went back over my booking and no mention of any travel agent until i paid but my total booking was made with TLA and i think i got an Email from Air-Paz or similar confirming the flight i had just booked? so they seemed to be wriggling from day one.
the Hotel refunded my money after bank contacted them, still trying for the other four flights.
i basically got music played day after day they wanted me to take a voucher but i have heard in the past other airlines have doubled the flight price so vouchers can be iffy.
Amazon refund within a day???

walking with the wife yesterday and we came upon a Queue in Jomtien by Soi Watt Boon
there must of been a few hundred as the Thai people were like sardines, the
wife informed me that it was a charity and food handout.
but just before by the market further up the road, it was busy and people did not seem to try
and do the social distancing, it makes a mockery of the closure of restaurants and other places
we did wear masks and tried to keep a couple of yards away from others, but a lot did not seem
to be bothered.

Your statement is false.
"All coronavirus patients will be treated for free at all hospitals in Thailand, with the costs paid by three healthcare funds, effective retroactively from March 5."
It includes foreigners.
Well advertised information search it.
Could you put a link up to confirm this statement as most people i have spoken to since the stay home rules have been announced, believe that all foreigners had to pay for any tests/treatment re
convid-19.... due to past experience (20 years) many people do not have 100% trust in some hospitals here .

VFS in Chiang Mai are helpful and courteous, excellent service.
I am glad they are keeping some happy, at the time I had dealings with them
I bumped into two French lads at swampy and I did not have to tell them
the company name !!! they told me and the wife ''VFS in Vietnam'' an infamous name at that time.
-
sorry people jumped in a bit to soon, yes VFS had a bad reputation in many counties so I have been told.
I was not trying to take over the thread just a red flag to a none red bull , if you know what I mean.
-
p.s. this was a few years ago, so hopefully not now as bad as they have changed the company doing this job,
but it still annoys me that Thai people will make their own rules/judgements and ride roughshod over
there fellow Thais if their fragile pride is in their opinion ever so slightly touched.

This is what we always state on my wife's visa applications, had 3 successful applications already including one last month.
all depends on the mood of the person doing the assessment, or as in our case collecting the paperwork
when we sat down (a Farang asked me to sit by him? and I can only think that he had upset one of the office staff) I noticed some of the Thai staff had a funny look in our direction, everything was ok until my wife handed me the folder that our application had been in, I could tell it was not empty, when I checked every single financial document
had been left in the folder, I asked the lady at the counter what was going on? and showed her all the
paper work, she disappeared and came back and basically shrugged, I tried to phone the number for complaints but could not get an answer... after an hour or so of showing people what had been done.the lady at the counter told me if we applied again I would be allowed to go with the wife from start to finish , we got refused and I went with the wife, and guess what they tried to give the financials back
in the folder but I shoved them back and pretended to Film them.
we had a nice month in the Uk and we intend to attend my sons wedding next year, and I would rather stand for a few hours than accept a seat from a stranger again, still a puzzle to this day...
alls we got was not enough proof of financials and the fact that I reported that my documents were with held several hours before the documents were examined counted for nothing. TIT

just checked Nok Air and flights I booked and as far as I know were canceled
are now running again ??? ok I have been on lock down or whatever but I do not remember all the Travel Restrictions being lifted, I was amazed at the refund offered if you applied ''only flight fee refunded all taxes /Vat ect. ect.
not refunded, you can purchase a refund for 1000 baht per flight''
so paid 700 baht get about 300 baht and refund then pay 1000 baht is this legal??? they give you 300 and you add 700 and all is good....If this is legal it defies belief.... its like one flew over..

to be honest for about 2 years i thought the majority of thais were okish but the longer you stay the more you learn, not all are bad, but a fair amount are racist, and that seems to be drilled into them from childhood,
then you have the Army in charge, and in the end you realize that if you jump through all the hoops and spend a fair bit of money they put up with Farangs.
