I received a refund from EVA today. They canceled the flight and there was no hassle at all getting it. My ticket was also non-refundable. Your problem is with the travel agent. I booked directly with EVA, so had no agent. I surely don't see why snyone uses a travel agent anymore.

be aware that one Airline '' Thai Lion Air '' has a few tricks when you have booked with them, i went online and directly to their site i picked a date and time to fly from Udon Thani for me and the wife.

next thing we have Convid-19 and our flight is ''suspended'' i never gave it much thought as i had other things to sort out, a few weeks later i got a message from TLA asking me if i could fly at a different time i said no thanks as i had already had a change of my outgoing dates and i could not make the time they suggested, and a full refund would be best.

First they told me i had to contact ''the travel agent'' i informed them that i had booked at their site on the internet, and that both Nok Air and the hotel had been very helpful and i had received a full refund for the hotel, and Nok Air had changed my original flight at no extra cost. Thai Lion Air had insisted that i had to go through the travel agent, i have gone on their site online and there is no mention of travel agent until you have booked your flight and filled in all your details bar your credit Card ? your card details are on a page with another company name on it.... but NO mention of travel agents...I have been put on hold and left for hours on the phone by TLA. i have informed the credit card company, as i feel charge back is an option. yes i always book with  a UK card.

  2. i booked two flights with Nok Air about 15th April after a few phone calls i accepted a change/voucher

whatever, as the flights had by then increased by 50% and they re-booked us at no extra charges /fee's

    so not to bad.

Thai lion Air cancelled the flights we had booked and as i would not accept their new flights they then said i had canceled the flights, next it was i had booked via a travel agency ? (i booked online via TLA their online site ?) they have not answered the phone for weeks so i am expecting to have missed their deadline for a refund ,as they have tried every other trick up to now , the credit card i booked with as always is UK Mastercard, so i am hoping they reclaim the full amount. but taking their time this time.

last time full refund inside 7 days from Qatar.

  3. I have phoned them and they said I had cancelled (I actually refused their change of flight and asked for a refund, after they cancelled/rescheduled my booked flight)  when about two months ago I got an answer they, said I had cancelled the flights? the next answer was I need to contact the travel agent who I booked with ? I went online to Thai Lion Air and booked both flights through their website. now they do not answer. I got my other flights replaced by Nok Air (no charges) and another full refund via the hotel booking. I might have a look at their office as I am landing in a week or so using a flight I had to pay for as Thai Lion Air are not speaking again. my credit card have been informed re ''Chargeback''

last time they were spot on inside a week.

Are you lot really this gullible to believe this? Where is the video of good old "Ron" going to pick up this pensioner? Where is the video of this pensioner saying thank you? I mean according many you, Thais are scammers and thieves but OH No not good old RON! He couldn't possibly be a scammer. ONLY Thais are scammers!

    Pathetic

i sat with a group of four Farangs last night,(obviously socially distanced) two out the four had lost houses and a fair bit of money to their x Thai wives, one lad had also paid for a lease so he can live in the house he paid for,The lad who seen me off the night before had ''lost'' £750.000 with a silly amount of land he had paid for....out of the six people that i spoke to that is 50%

so is it the people i knock about with or is it the law in Thailand that makes it so easy both in regulation and enforcement . Pathetic is right

Haha, some ridiculous posts in this thread. Almost as ridiculous as the survey. Many seem to think the only bars in Thailand are the farang bars on Sukhumvit and Beach Road.

Remember, this is Thailand. A country full of Thais. There's a good deal more of them here than farangs. And you know they love to drink. If you ventured out of the farang areas, out near the factories, down the country roads, and around the moo bans, you'd see some simply constructed structures, just some metal paneling held up with a frame, decorated with Christmas lights and banners advertising Leo and Chang. Inside are many little tables, surrounded by a colorful array of plastic chairs. Yes folks, these are the Thai bars. I'd say they outnumber the farang bars 10 to 1.

According the survey, these concerned citizens want them to remain shut. But what I've seen tells a different story. Walking around the sois here on the outskirts of BKK, around empty lots and parking lots, are piles and piles of beer bottles and boxes. Haha. Our thirsty Thai friends are making their own bars wherever they feel like it. I'd say if it were up to them, they couldn't open fast enough.

in the last six weeks in various places in Thailand there has been beer if you want it from lots of

sources so i hear, in fact in some places you would think they are having their Song Khran as they

stagger and swerve their way home at night. i doubt any Thai who wanted a drink did not get one.

thousands and thousands of lives are on the line, problem is drunkards just don't give a ****

if it is convenient have a walk around your local market /big C/ Central festival/ coffee shop/free food line/ MRTA /  you will encounter people jammed together, most will be in a group and there will be not  a lot of physical distancing or none that works, i went out yesterday, i have also walked for exercise and the same thing near everyone has a mask but once you get on a train or bus or a supermarket you are in an enclosed space and if there is a Covid carrier the virus will be present and if it is enclosed it can travel the same as you in closed space, in the open air space it is not as easy for it to travel, at least not as far in the open but for some strange reason and against every advice i have read they now say closed in is ok so long as there is no beer....

does the covid virus get attracted to beer ?  They need to inform the scientists.

if you do not have credit or data credit on the number you use for QR scanning, the website gives notice : "website not available " , so finally those on guard on entrance give up and let me in after another temperature scanning …… that is how it worked for me at Big C ,

I have 2 numbers on smartphone, one always credit empty as it eat any money...., even loaded in very short time it eat my credit even not using to call , a real mistery AIS people can not find why even , so I only load once a year 100 baht  to keep the line open for 1 year, for  receiving only , other number for calling , that one keeps the money at normal rate …

there is a code you put in your phone and it stops the funny deductions by AIS . google it.

I haven't seen any Thais or citizens from the surrounding countries swimming. Collecting shellfish from the beach, yes.

I do see a high number of foreigners deliberately flouting the mask wearing rule. Selfish imbeciles. Often wearing it on their chins with their noses exposed. Utter morons.

Just low lives, really...with an inherent sense of entitlement. They should really be given the bum's rush.

i surmise that your experience of not seeing any Thai citizens deliberately flouting the rules, is because you figured they did not know that they could not use the beach, as i have walked along

that very stretch beach (pavement) for a few weeks and although there was a few (one or two) farangs on the beach, they were outnumbered by the thirty odd Thai people in groups of five or six  sitting on the beach, (it turned out they were the umbrella crew and they were checking their turf)

i also had to wave vendors away, as some seemed oblivious to the Convid-19 restrictions.

when we reached the market on Soi wat boon it was packed and it looked like all this distancing stuff had not reached any of the thai people shopping there. we turned around

on the way back the free food queue on beach road had grown in volume and length, to the degree

that it made a right turn by the police station on beach road up to the lights and then made a left

turn with not a social distancer in sight, many hundreds of people all breaking the rules.

i used to have a beer with a group of lads from the UK and their favorite villain was the Immigrant

some of the stories about what they got from the UK was unbelievable and mostly incorrect.

but as a ruling body it is good to have a scapegoat.

does anyone think that arresting people who have just lost their livelihood plus others that are trying

to get some food as they have none, would be a the correct move....

but hang on here are three thick strangers....who may not of understood ...who may have refused..

i was told many years ago that a farang is just below the dog in the rankings.

you will also see no charges but the overseas bank may add their charges ( like ''240 baht'')

there are American Banks that refund charges but not Halifax Clarity card,

i learnt my lesson and opened a Thai bank account about five years ago(20 baht fee) and nil for KK branch, and Schwab is one in the states that refunds all ATM fees.

Surprised to see so many negative comments. I have been here for months, the same every year, for quite a few years. It is so relaxed here, enjoying a lot. There is no a perfect place in this world. And the always complaining bunch of farangs has got a choice, they can go back to their countries, problem solved.

to be honest for about 2 years i thought the majority of thais were okish but the longer you stay the more you learn, not all are bad, but a fair amount are racist, and that seems to be drilled into them from childhood,

then you have the Army in charge, and in the end you realize that if you jump through all the hoops and spend a fair bit of money they put up with Farangs.

its already done i hear booked two flights an hour ago

sorry i got a message that most of the restrictions have been extended for one month and everyone was talking on TVF  about the relaxing of restrictions.

that included the Alcohol ban( that would stop songkran crowds and the beer ect)

the fact that the Songkran holiday finished a week ago seems to have been forgotten

but hey we might get all the shopping malls reopened? like all the markets? but no bars no beaches, i can see the Tourists flying back by the plane load, to get to the shopping malls and markets...amazing Thailand ...but i am due a holiday as i thin too much when i try and fathom what is going on here.

  12. Have been in touch with Udon Thani Airport and the number for Savanhaphumi A.O.T

and on both occasions we were told there is no special requirements for travelers from

one province  to another , at least between these two, just passports or ID, and your own face mask.

i also believe they give you paperwork to fill in (maybe a new type TM6 Covid-19 ?)

the wife confirmed this after  having a chat with them (Thai) after me.

but no restrictions apart from new seating and no drinks but could hardly be called restrictions.

more like requirements. and if that is incorrect someone needs to contact the A.O.T

I just want to be able to travel into the next Province so i get into Makro and get some food that is not available in Uttaradit . Uttaradit has Tesco and that's it absolutely pathetic but i am hoping that CP Group get to buy out Tesco so that we get  a Makro here .

  13. i cannot help with BKK to Jomtien but i have inquired over Jomtien to BKK and then flying to Udon Thani, we rang the Tourist Authority BKK  who said you need nothing but your ID, the wife seemed quite happy so we will probably give it a go after 1st may. as this is TiT you may consider a double check but the lady did say you only need ID and no other paperwork when only domestic travel.

i have also seen that if you want to enter the lock down in Pattaya town you do need extra paperwork.

Why "can't" you congregate at the beach, but you "can" at any Street Market in East Pattaya which is far more busy than the beach? especially  the market in Soi Siam Country Club

a quick trip to the market on soi wat boon and its that packed the car park is full, so the late crowd have to park across the road ....social distance???? most do not seem to understand, but if you have a stroll along the beach (exercise) and you stop for a rest ...a year in Jail...is it some kind of joke?

called into a laundry yesterday four teenagers a man and his wife, and i had to signal to the lady that i did not want to join the scrum, she eventually came out to serve me. if they impose these rules to locals the Jails will be full by the time it gets dark.

Lol, yes I saw that too, Boris used that superman analogy in free trade, how the UK was superman about to liberate the world, while he was begging the EU to buy his haddock all the while...

The man is funny, you gotta give him that.

    Love that guy.

He seemed to be saying by him going down the '' herd immunity'' road and the people of the UK Would be paying the price for the ''superman tag'' you know let your Gran die and you loose less money..but not very funny for Gran.

do  many other Tories think like that?

No, the UK didn't decide on a policy of herd immunity. I don't know why the anti-Boris brigade keep wheeling out this lie.

i just stumbled across a video of Boris but there is no link, and i do not think TV will allow me to air it.

they are calling it a smoking gun? Boris talks about a superman type country ? that stands alone and goes into the phone box and comes out a super hero ??? it does not look good for any one involved ?

if it is admissible i think he could go to Jail, but he was or seemed to be playing out some crazy strategy, but i was shocked at his words and what they seemed to imply...i doubt any advisers came up with this stuff. for his and our sake i hope it is some kind of joke. unbelievable.

( had friend request on Facebook and the video came up a bit further on)

A few days ago saw free food handout Jomtien beach, near sunset. Police were there, but did nothing to separate people aka social distancing.

i was there from before the police box, to second road and into the complex hundreds of people

no spaces, same at soi watt boon market like a massive scrum, police never bothered just looked on

the day after three Farangs arrested and fined 30k each drinking at 6pm in their condo, as usual two

    setts of laws.
