Sure. And what about the no. of stars of these hotels, a few are 4 star, many/most are 5 and even 6 star hotels.

Many many tourists come to Thailand for a cheap holiday, normally (my guess) they would stay:

    - A very small number in 4 star hotels.

    - Even less (very few) in 5 and 6 star hotels.

    - Large / very large numbers in 3, 2, 1 star hotels.

If they have any interest at all to come to LOS for a holiday (including quarantine), it won't include quarantine in 4, 5, 6 star venues. They just won't come.

Therefore a need for many quarantine hotels at 3, 2, 1, star level.

    Not rocket science.

eerrr you are coming from the wrong direction, it is about what they can get not what the Farangs may want, how are they going to get maxx payloads using 3.2.1. star hotels ? They have already mentioned a slimmer Quarantine shape, you can not have everything ,they are already all aimed at one island (Phuket) = lots of empty High end Hotels.

  3. It has changed a lot i can remember when they just handed the money to the IM O, with every body just

carrying on with their stuff, and a girl would go to the bank and give the bankbook to the client, i suppose there was Agents then but i don't think you got the adds like ''15k baht and 2 photo's plus passport and any visa anywhere in Thailand '' all over facebook and other social media in Thailand, all since mobile phones became a must have. the only ''crack down'' i have ever seen is the ones to make

sure the Foreigner' pays via their Agent partner's.

The complainers are the ones that don’t want pay $50 for 30 days insurance or be stuck in quarantine for 2 weeks.

i am glad all the figures i keep checking for Insurance are incorrect ? could you pass on the link to this Insurance company,

And the last quarantine costs i have read were 75,000 bht to 200,000 bht for 15 days.

yesterday i was quoted £680 deductible = £800 per month = £9600 per year from a German company

for a 70 year old, but this covers Covid. if this gets to be the new rules my days are numbered here.

Don't rock the boat, mai pen rai!

Just a few galaxies away a sea cucumber was assaulted by an alien, deportation?

Who says the law is fair?

Win was only charged with having no taxi plate? What a bout a fine for riding on the sidewalk?I hope the victim will file for assault and hospital bills.

Just when will Thai people say'enough already?'

There is a glimmer of hope,

hate to P*ss on your parade , but a top Podiatrist from America was run down and killed on the pavement outside his Bangkok hotel, about 8 years ago, just stepped outside to get the lay of the land?

there was an uproar then but it soon got back to ''normal''.

  6. i did not realize the problem was so bad, i spoke to a friend last week and he told me he was in big trouble as his 30 days visa has near expired and he is on overstay shortly and he said you cannot apply for a visa on overstay? and Immigration (Jomtien) told him he had to leave Thailand to get a new visa ? i am a bit surprised as when is an Amnesty not an Amnesty ? when you are in Thailand

it appears? i mean normally you get all the ''i have never had a problem with Immigration in twenty years'' brigade , but this has changed not too many fish in the barrels in fact most of the barrels   are empty so a lot of Immigration staff are not getting the income stream they are used to,

and now they want to maximize their earnings, if there is a way around this via Agent or other body

a heads up would be appreciated as i do understand how it feels when you get caught up in one of their '' how can we make it even more difficult for Farangs to stay in Thailand '' games.

                                                              Thanks for any helpful advice.

  7. “family trouble.”  and ''violent criminal'' are miles apart, how many white men have been shot seven times in the back because he had a domestic with his wife? and with all this white supremacy involving most of the police force's it says enough and it needs to change. unless  these protests/riots will be the new norm.

How does Immigration make your life hard when travelling in the country ?
The hotel makes the report for you when you check in.
TM30 is not necessary to make anymore after you returned from another province.
So what is "making life so hard" when you travel ?

if you happen to go to Immigration for an extension of stay or other permits ect, they will fine you.

even at offices that do not require a TM30 , they done this  to me in January. filled one in when i came back in May and i was asked why ? no rules they make it up as they go along.

TM 28 abd 30s have been reformed , have they not ? Isnt that a long term result of the FCCT Forum ? Isnt that the government acting ? As far as Im concerned it worked and a big " well done" to all involved.  Lets move on shall we ...

i must of missed this ? i was fined this year (January) because i was renewing my Married to a Thai visa

and i had been to Udon Thani and my landlord had not filled in a TM30 ?(he was sailing in Australia)

They told me this had to be sorted before my visa was granted. does that sound like reformed?

They make up their own rules. One office is not the same as another.

would you believe there are people on TV who dispute this ????? and they are not newbies..

Agents are fine until  the SH*T hits the fan, and it can come from any direction, my last encounter

with this was the Agent (ladyboy) fell out with the boyfriend (IMM. O).

    Boyfriend steals the passports

will not hand them back....30 odd Farangs have no passports all have to pay 20,000 baht overstay

and Agent gets shut down. do it yourself, you know they have no logic if loosing face is an issue.

(if this was a sting it was a good one? about ten years ago)

  11. i went into a bar below the condo a few years ago, ok i was smashed i ordered a beer

The wife followed me in and looked at the bin.... 750 baht The farang owner hung his head

low an American mate of his tried to make out it was a mix up with his bin.

The Thai bargirl was never the full shilling and at one point tried to tell people i fancied her

she eventually got dumped by her Farang boyfriend and got sacked from the bar but she was

still there for a year or so, but being happy go lucky i do wave to them as i go past.

for me the worst Farang tax is when you get taxed by another farang, have seen lots of them

    at it.

Yes I have bothered, and specifically your post #13, which mentions Chonburi (not other offices in Thailand), where if you have all your documentation correct, it takes less than an hour.

If you (or someone you know) have taken 3 days to get processed then obviously you haven't put together the right documentation or have messed up the funds. Maybe if you read some posts, you'll have an idea what to do, so your application goes smoothly. Do they have a MERC bike, if so get on it.

Also having a Thai with you ( who is not your wife) who berates the immigration officer can only be a bad thing. Its a bit like the 'dress correctly' thread, be polite, be respectful and most of all patient.

your reply says so much,as i have never met a Farang who knows the workings of every imm office  in Thailand in my twenty years here,if you read the vast majority of posts on that thread from a few different area's they agree with my post, it is a shame that this difficulty is not just one area and not one officer. but it is common knowledge, Like the Merc....where did you get ''BERATE'' from ...stay off the Low -cow lar

  13. i used to purchase lamb madras at a restaurant close to where i stay, a decent meal and a decent portion, then the Covid -19 struck... 1st prices went up Then they decided you had to spend a minimum

...then my lamb madras went to a lot of Mango and a few bits of lamb Madras ?

this is not run by Thai's but maybe they have been here to long?

as this had also happened a few years ago and i went and spoke to the chef it was rectified, but it made me feel like i was having to check all the time, so i just done a bit more home cooking,

Of course..  we all know that, not what I was asking. I was asking why he quoted 3 days when its usually max one hour.

there is no usually anymore your requirements are dictated by which province your immigration office is located? and which way the immigration officer decides to interpret the rules? and what kind of mood is he or she is in that day? usually does not live in Thailand immigration anymore, and if you read the majority of the post's you will see that for a lot of people going to their imm office for an extension due to married to a Thai is a nightmare now. my advice  is to take a Thai wittiness who is not scared to Question the imm officer's, we did and it seemed to take the wind from their sails.

have you bothered to read these posts? and how is the Merc.?...LOL
