Bangkok Bank will refund all purchased flights bought with a Bkk Bank credit card unfortunately the Bank said no airlines have been refunding flights.
i had a refund from a hotel booking, i then had Nock Air try to reach a mutual settlement which we did, and last but not least Thai Lion Air trying their best to ignore my phone calls ect ect it did take several phone calls over several months but i finally got a person from my C.C bank he said money will be in your account
within a few weeks ...''Charge back'' it sometimes takes a while but has done it for me a few times now. if the airline is in the wrong they just take the money and put it back where it came from.

Are there any headaches getting deposits back. ?
not if you leave the place clean and tidy and respect others property.
strange post ....
it does not matter whether you leave it clean and tidy ? in four moves in 16 years i have never had my deposit refunded without a fuss, and that was two Thai and two Farang's i was renting from.
The last one told me the Curtains would cost 10,000 Baht to get dry cleaned ?
i had been there for five years and the curtains looked fine to me ?
the wife got them done for a few hundred Baht,
The first said the owner was in Bangkok (this manager did not know i had the owners phone number ) never had any ''yeh ok here's your deposit back'' (but on one with the expensive curtain cleaner) a few weeks after signing i noticed many cigarette burns and found the toilet was not 100% (turns out a house brick to block up the toilet) and all the broken floor tiles plus the cigarette burns were message's i should of read ....not strange but the truth..... have you ever rented?

a bit of a a i,me ,myself post, just because you get treated ok where you go dosen,t mean its set in stone, the poster related an incident that happened to him,i wasn,t there and i assume you wasn,t,however i can say i,ve frequented bars for years behaved myself then had a disagreement with a bolshy ho and the owner took her side,i just walked out and did not return till paradoxically the bar changed hands.
in actual fact the whole basis of this lads post is it was his local/favourite pub which to me means a place i am familar with and people who know me ? if it was about drinking while up in Udon Thani i would be able to talk about getting a ''Micky finn'' and when i realised something was wrong i ran down the road and got into a building, waking up 8 hours later. but money intact.
The bar off soi Buchow that hid the bins under the counter, and i tested it one time by buying one drink and not paying, next morning my bin was 800 bhat, this was run by Farangs we have all had incidences in the early days here ,but hardly any at a place we go to on a regular basis,
and this lad is the only one i have heard who has been told do not come back.
i reckon even the Micky Finnars would of asked me back so they could try with a stronger dose!!!
oh and if it makes any one feel better i was told ''you only get a micky finn if you have a certain look
about you '' that was after drinking all over for 18 years. so i must of been good at hiding that look???

It's strange that you claim it's your "favourite pub" and that you are a "regular customer" but you obviously didn't know the staff, or the manager, and, clearly from your report, you weren't familiar to them either. You couldn't have been that much of a "regular paying customer in your favourite pub"!
Perhaps she wasn't the only one being reluctant, cocky and arrogant if you, effectively, were barred!
i frequent 4 or five bars on a regular basis ,out of these ,two bars are my favourites ,one is my local
i know the manager/bar staff/owner/owners wife and son/about 15 other people from many countries
who also frequent the bar on a regular basis. The staff and manager/owner allways say hello. (there is no manager at present the owner's wife does that roll), in all the other bars the managers/staff know me and we normaly nod or smile to acknowledge each other there is a quite large turnover of staff at some of these bars, but i cannot remember ever in 18 years being told do not come back.
i have also apart from you i have never heard of any one being told to '' Do One '' after inquiring about beer prices from a previous visit. i mean if you were out in a strange place but at your local?????
the story does not hold water lad. That is the reason it is 22 pages people are trying to fathom out what is what, it does not add up.

it appears you do not know yours.....oh by the way Mellwood was l.pools training ground and Bellefield was EFC
Bill Shankly was always more than a great football manager. ... Harder still was that Liverpool became an even more formidable force, and later banned him from their training ground at Melwood, where the newly retired Shankly had tried to rediscover some of the camaraderie that once filled his life.Oct 17, 2009 OBSERVER

Sorry for those two Russians, and the driver. I guess you are one of the lucky ones. I have read that some, if not most of those drivers have very bad work conditions. Long work hours, not much rest, and the next morning the same again,....every day again and again....No wonder some are taking refuge in alcohol or drug abuse....
a few years later we where in Bangkok to get the freedom to marry paperwork we were outside the M.O.F.A i flagged a taxi down we jumped in and the missus (then girlfriend) started shouting ''get out
get out'' as i grabbed the door i looked at the driver's mirror and as white foam came out of his mouth his eyes rolled back and it was like a horror movie as we scrambled out to the growl of ''YA-BA YA- BA from the wife...i only use known or recommended taxi's now and check their eyes asap.
The two Russians and the driver were all killed instantly as the van went off the road and into a building if my memory serves me right. apparently the YA-BA keeps them awake but that lad must of either fell asleep or had a heart attack and when you are flying like they do its usually a real bad one.
they have to work long hours to earn decent money and this being TIT it don't get fixed.

Make that, "all over Thailand",..Also from personal experience !
i had a driver from Pattaya a few years ago his driving was unbelievably bad, he even got pulled by the BiB on the way back, i spoke to the English owner of the van company, i told him i would never use his company again while this driver drove, three weeks later he came to me in a bar and announced ''the driver had committed suicide and killed two Russians at the same time ''
i realized i had used the words ''he could not of drove any worse even if he was trying to kill himself''
it was all over the papers about ten years ago.

It's the rule used by Pattaya Immigration for years. ????
A good one.
(Used at least for those on long extension: retirement, mariage, ...)
actually its not, Jomtien will fine you if they feel like it, i went 14 years without any mention
of a Tm30 , asked to change my visa from retirement as it was best for me, and i hear the IMM O mention a hotel in Udon Thani and all of a sudden TM30 and a fine, they do as they please never mind that i was entitled to change my visa Legally, i did not do what they wanted.
i now have the girl on TM30 desk telling me i do not have to do a TM30 i just filled it in and asked her to file it as it means one less thing they can use against me and the wife.
i will wait until i see all of this in writing and take a copy with me when i visit Jomtien.

19 hours ago, Malawi said:Correct. Mariage extensions are pretty straightforward to do.
Don't believe all the scare stories as they are simply not true.
Well we applied last January in Jomtien, it took three straight days to and from the Imm office
first day the 25 pages of docs x 2 were not in the correct order they were handed back.
i asked if they had a list of how they should be and was given a list in Thai, we eventually found space in a cafe away from the Imm office to try and figure what was what.
on the second day they accepted the documents but noticed we had been on holiday to Udon Thani
and they mentioned the TM30....in sixteen years using Jomtien this was my first TM30 Mention?
i was basically informed it needed to be done =1400 bht fine for what?
( this year i filled in the TM30 all done, and the IMM lady asked me why? i told her i do not want
to be fined again? she shook her head and said but you do not have to do this?) but be warned they will use anything they can to stop you changing to a ''Married visa'' WHY what is so different ? if my bank would give me proof that my pensions come from the uk (tried to change to BB, imm said we do not give proof of residence any more) i have 400 k in the bank, now they have a buy some paper for 70k bht and next year pay 120k sorry they call it ''medical insurance'' that i cannot use as it would be like burning money ( Sarcastic comments are required at this point)
all of this to me does not smell right...they do not like people from Bangkok checking their work. why?
they seem to spend an awful lot of time, trying to push punters towards no check from BKK plus 800k in the bank?
third day they decided the pictures we had (that they had checked three times already)were not what they wanted we went and got all new pictures, and they looked as if between my wife her friend (a retired school teacher) had got the message over that we were not going to roll over, we wanted a
legitimate Visa we were following the rules and regs....i have never seen my wife so angry and her friend was disgusted

funny enough we were talking about the UK yesterday, and of course no *alls Borris came
up a lad was trying to defend him, making excuse after excuse.
Cummings ''driving sixty miles to a beauty spot on, a bank holiday. with the wife and son
on his wife's birthday , only because he wanted to test out his eyes''
was the clincher the lad trying to defend him gave up at this point,
sounded like an immature schoolboy caught with his hand in the till
the Conservative lad pondered why did he not use a better excuse surely he had advisors
who would of made up a better story than that one? why had he used that excuse?
everyone knows its lies...sums up the state of Politics at present i reckon.

have had a Thai Boyfriend and have decided to go down the Farang only road, if a big knob from the Ruling class comes along they will partake but not what they really want, as they say even though they have ''big'' Money they still want a discount, These are young girls who have tried with Thai boyfriends
and now give them the thumbs down, and anyway no decent money earning Thai lad is going to go for a go-go Girl, they are only fun nights out, not wife material.

i walked in the condo last week and the Television had a cartoon type advert showing a stick like figure with a bottle of beer and then a big cross appeared on the bottle and then it was thrown in the bin.
not sure what station but i was very surprised at this open hostility to Alcohol? never seen anything like it before it just reminded me of something this lot would go for ? your local bar is no more at risk of spreading Covid -19 than the buses/trains/markets/Malls in fact open air bars are probably safer than most of these already re-opened places, the only significant figures are for a packed boxing venue in BKK who seemed to have angered the people who control this country.

Doing likewise with bankbook and laughing like a Thai lottery win, no need to make things up all before
the Covid of course, and they will not loose any face by making things up. they do not have to.

On what planet?
on planet proper Establishment in Bangkok with proper birds not some dingy Pattaya ****hole
go-go's in Pattaya have been quoting 2k-4k including bar fine
birds in your local beer bar have been asking 1k-1.5k + for about three years
i have seen girls banking 200 k in two months before this Covid-19 broke
these young ladies are buying land and investing their money the last thing they want
is a Thai boyfriend.

There are still waitresses.... Maids.... Nannies..... they can get a job fairly quickly if they want to. It just won't be a quick 2k made within 4 hours.... Which then proves my point. Money wins over everything else.
from what i have seen and been told the vast majority do not have Thai boyfriends, why would they?
the place were they work has security, and in general i have not heard of much trouble.
they also earn more than 2k a pop (in Bangkok they get some customers who have lots of influence in Thailand, and lots of money, but they tend to pay less than your average punter) 5k-10k is closer to what your Farang punter pays and these girls will have a few regulars who send money each month.
right now everything is shut so they are just waiting in their rooms, there are a few online services currently asking for ladies as they say its the new way....but time will tell and i can not see it closing completely.

I made a point of going to Immigration about three days before I made my application to ask for a list of required documents and confirm there were no recent changes. They gave me a printout in Thai (my daughter and her university lecturer translated it and as she's studying/teaching Thai Law at Uni I knew the translation would be accurate).
As a timeline over an eight day period:
day one - made application at Si Racha (thirty days before my extension expired so I had thirty days to correct any anomalies/problems.
day two - after the initial rejection I phoned the 1178 hotline to clarify a few points.
day three - went to Jomtien Immigration.
day four - returned to Si Racha Immigration with a Thai friend as an added interpreter.
I did my extension just after you, in February. I thought at first Si Racha were just trying to 'persuade' people to take out the easier retirement extension and add to their tea fund at the same time, but your 'nit picking' problems seem remarkably similar to mine and around the same time. This would have also been during the period when we came under the new income option changes for the first time. I wonder whether these problems we encountered could have been instructions by Chonburi Immigration (both offices) to ensure every 'i' was dotted and 't' crossed to prevent loopholes, bearing in mind a lot of people were also complicating things by trying to change to a marriage extension to get round the new medical insurance requirements that had been introduced. It certainly crossed my mind that these two issues could be the real cause of our problem.
I do agree that taking a Thai friend along is a good idea.I introduced mine as my interpreter to the IO at Si Racha.
i have had a look at the new medical insurance and contacted one of the companies. i am 69 years old i have had lung cancer (had surgery) i have four crushed vertebra in my Back/neck i have various breaks/tears/dislocations mainly through sport, and a few other things that i would have to declare.
but they wanted 80k for the first year and 140k when i am 70 in less than a year, the previous conditions would make any insurance a complete waste of money as they would never be accepted and when i spoke to someone who had been in that business, the term burning money was used.

I have never had a problem in all those years............until two years ago when they told me the rules were tightening and I must in future go to Si Racha because that was my local office. No problem last year (but was still able to use the embassy letter then). This year we have a different set of rules (income based) and, because that is a bit more complex, I suspect the IO at Si Racha decided to offer the retirement option, and give themselves a backhander in the process. A lot would pay the money without too much of a problem because of the negative stories about tea money that do the rounds.
Me, I think a bit differently. I have always been legal so my attitude is more 'why should I pay somebody 15k Baht to get a backhander extension that I already qualify for and would only cost me 1900 baht.............and, unlike the tea money version, is 100% legal.
If you're application is legal and your documents are accurate and complete, personally, I don't think you'll have a problem at Jomtien. The problem occurs if your documents are questionable/incomplete.
last January i went to Jomtien with all my paperwork/bank details/pictures in two big stacks, the first
thing that was said was ''why is he asking for a married to Thai extension'' they picked through the two stacks of paper and gave them back as they were not in the correct order?
after two days of''nit picking'' my wife called a friend who is an x Thai school teacher, she turned up
five mins later and began to question the lady IO, and it seemed to affect the''dragon lady''
on the third day we were told the pictures were not acceptable (they were ones from a batch from the year before) we went and got all new pictures, and i looked at them and they had given us three days of scowls and ridiculous query's i kept a smile on my face as we were only asking for a legitimate visa.
i have been using this immigration office for 16 years also, and next time i will bring a few Thais with us as i got the impression they just might feel a bit of shame when they are observed by their own
people, every other service in this office i have never had a problem with.

i found immigration had issues with the photos after three days in the Jomtien office
(they had tried to find fault with everything else)
we had to go back to our condo and get a thai friend to redo the photos and then a short
trip to the Kodak shop for some glossy new pictures that shut another door in our Quest
to get a legit ''married to Thai Visa''.
yesterday i went to immigration for my TM30 Report after five mins the young lady asked
why was i doing a TM30 report as it was not required, as i had not left Thailand.
i told her that last January i was fined while applying for a ''married to Thai visa'' because
i had not reported the same trip, and i was not going to give them any more reason to try
and intimidate me and my wife, so if you are on the same extension be aware.

on my original post of this treatment at Jomtien i had lots of reports from others who had similar treatment , but of course on TV you always get one who has never had anything but kisses and a cup of tea. look it up
its a bit like the lad who came in the bar and started telling me he was importing his Mercedes to Thailand? every one including me was gobsmacked, i advised him to keep it where it was as Thai customs do like to get their pound of flesh... he said ''no i have an agent'' turns out he was a two week millionaire.
