  1. There is no question about that, jazzbo, but some of us just don't CARE what others think about us ... so then why the 7000+ ThaiVisa posts in a little over 2 years mostly about yourself and how many people you know if you don't care what anyone thinks about you? IanForbes.Blogspot.com would do just as well...

BTW http://ianforbes.blogspot.com/ On Blogger Since April 2006 Post = 0

  2. People who make nasty comments about persons whom they have never met may indeed be twits or jerks anonymous or otherwise ... People whose writings go into voluminous great detail about their personal affairs, lives, general perspectives, and worldly experiences pseudo or otherwise should EXPECT that those writings -- rather than the person behind them -- are fair game for ridicule or anything else.

  3. I did for a while go public on my ThaiVisa profile ... all that did was bring out the Right Wing / Libertarian attack dogs as to how corrupt are all USA Non Profits (NGOs) and that the United Nations should be dissolved, etc. so I took down the non-anonymous profile references.

Elsewhere on the Internet with my comments and postings I am quite open as there is no other way to even have a chance to be taken seriously.

Besides, now that I have been advised on ThaiVisa that I am a 'Statist' I must take all pre-cautions

  4. In the interpretation of statute or regulation 'context' is always valid ... but in this matter my opinion and even yours is irrelevant; it is what you can convince the responsible Labor Min official that your interpretation is valid.

.. but I would guess they would simply say: You have not entered the Kingdom in any way shape or form to perform any kind of mission or duty whatsoever

  5. I do not think anyone whose interpretation of the exemption might count would construe your showing up to teach English to a bunch of 12 year olds a 'duty' or 'mission' in the context of all the other exemptions mentioned by SunBelt.

But fear not -- just as in the The Blues Brothers -- you can tell the local Labor Office official 'This is a holy thing ... I am on a mission from God."

  6. I would say the fly-in-the-ointment to Kuhn Ap's interesting observation is not in the definition of 'profession' or 'education' but -- especially considering the first 5 exemptions mentioned -- the definition of 'duty or mission' which would suggest one is in the Kingdom at the behest of owns home country government / diplomatic corp or an international specialized-agency NGO.

  7. #77: Section 16 of the Act doesn't apply to revocation of permanent residence. Go tell them:

There are seven reasons for which permanent residence status in Thailand can be revoked. These reasons are detailed below.

    3. Persons who are persona non grata by virtue of the decision of the Interior Minister under Section 16 of the Immigration Act B.E.2522 (1979).

  8. As 'permanent' residency can be revoked -- and given the stated 'whims' and capriciousness of the Dept. of Immigration -- just how permanent is that... Using the excuse of violation of Section 16 of the Immigration Act they could get rid of just about anyone who rubbed them the wrong way

BTW it says ๖๕,๐๐๐ บาท just like in the English version.
