American Tourist Arrested for Stabbing Incident in Chiang Mai
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Chiang Mai News
Environment is far stronger than willpower for many. Watching violence likely influences unstable people into making bad decisions. -
Most Chinese are low spending tourists. There are some wealthy one. Most of them avoid Thailand for many valid reasons. So, you have alot of lower to middle income Chinese, Russians, Malaysian, Indians and Arabs now. That is the mix. Gone are the days of affluent Westerners. You make your bed, and then you have to lie in it.

True, but some of that is due to absurd luxury taxes, on imports and wine, which make no sense in these days of globalization, make Thailand infinitely less competitive and scare away wealthy tourists, who like to do luxury shopping and drink good wine while in holiday. Thailand is simply shooting itself in the foot, due to arrogance, myopia, and lazy reliance on tax revenue.

Ever wanted to do an extreme walk or something?
spidermike007 replied to bignok's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
That would have to be timed with mild weather. The rainy season would be a good time to do it. Just saw the movie the Long Rider, about a guy who rode a horse from Alberta to Brazil. Took around 19 months. Amazing accomplishment. -
Every Hamas member is a dead man, Netanyahu says
spidermike007 replied to Social Media's topic in The War in Israel
The one thing you can always count on with Israeli politicians, is that they are incapable of learning. Just apply more and more violence. That will fix things. They are obsessed with the old testament an eye for an eye. And this way Netan can pander even more to his extremist supporters, who possess enough hatred in their hearts for the entire nation.- 70 replies

American Tourist Arrested for Stabbing Incident in Chiang Mai
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Chiang Mai News
Perhaps this fool was watching too many action movies, or video games. Or jacked up on yaba. What an idiot. The only reason to ever use a knife on someone, is if you or your family's life is being threatened. Otherwise, it will be nothing but regret. Years and years of regret. Unless he is a psychopath.- 147 replies

Famous Thai rock band Carabao to disband in March
spidermike007 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Good on them. Excellent band. Alot of Thais love them. Very cool how alot of the younger people here love the classic bands. Not the same in the West. A very small percentage there like the older music. -
It is a real term and is happening all over the world. Actually, it is happening here considerably less than in the US and Europe, where prices are skyrocketing.

Hong Kong duo busted in Bangkok for smuggling heroin to Australia
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
1. One kilo is NOT a staggering amount. 2. They will be let go, if they have access to a few million baht, that they are able to donate to the RTPVF (RTP villa fund). 3. Or they will be sentenced to a very long time in a lovely Thai prison. Someplace you never, ever want to end up spending years in. 4. There are better ways to make a living. Like selling something that does not kill people and destroy families. -
Being a loner in retirement

Enjoy your miraculously good fortune. My gal has about one or two bad days a year. I just say nice things to her, stroke her hair, and realize we are all entitled to an off day. -
Just imagine mentioning bad service or a faulty product. The world would come to an end. What type of person uses the law to protect their reputation? A tiny, shameless coward who is aware of the low quality products or services they offer. Rather than improve, they cower behind a heinous law, meant to stop the public from expressing dissatisfaction.

Is kindness something that works in life
spidermike007 replied to bignok's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Yes, absolutely. What is this civilization without it? A cesspool. Showing kindness to a stranger has the magical effect of making both of you feel good. In terms of generosity, it depends on who you are helping out. Some deserve it, some don't. This requires a certain level of discrimination. And just because some people take advantage of us, from time to time, is not a good reason to stop being kind, nor generous. What kind of a legacy do you want to leave behind?
