Norwegian man murders his Thai boyfriend in Chiang Mai
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Chiang Mai News
The title seems reckless and lacking any sort of decency or benefit of the doubt. Very callous. Unless they know something we don't. -
Real man are not afraid of criticism. Real men are courageous enough to handle it, and don't need to hide behind cowardly and malicious laws. That excludes the heinous army. All political prisoners should be released, and all of those charges should be dropped. It is time for Thailand to start pretending there is an adult in the room.

I suppose you are right. But, no matter how modest the woman is, I find that she will order dishes I would not, at a restaurant. And she needs her cosmetics and skin creams, there are always medical or dental costs, emergencies, etc., etc. It adds up. Trips cost more. As a rule of thumb, I like to say it costs 20 to 30 thousand baht a month to maintain a GF here. More if she is young and fine. Not an issue for many. But for a guy on a 60k a month budget, she will be a major luxury.

Anutin Enforces Stricter Firearm Regulations
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
After the Prayuth administration, we all know how ineffective and insincere this man is. So, don't expect much. When you consider where the guns come from (likely most are from the army and police?), does anyone really have the will to stand up and push back against that rot, corruption, immorality, moral degradation, and criminality? -
Hold on a minute. I did not know there was any real government stability. Too many shifting interests, and too little regard for the will of the people. If anything the shooting highlights the massive number of guns easily available here, and the the inability or unwillingness to control that. We all know alot of money is made by the soldiers and cops, who have access to alot of weapons, and act as gun brokers, no doubt. Dirty little secrets. Lock up those criminal heathens.

While you cannot always blame the parents, the fact that the parents were taken aback by the discovery, professing ignorance of the origin of the weapons and ammunition says alot. Were you guys engaging in real parenting? Or did you just have the kid, and then ignore him for his 14 years? One has to wonder.
-
The tiny things you guys do will have very little impact on the world. The shooting at Siam will scare some Chinese away, as many are timid and easily scared. But, this is a small thing. There are so many other factors. The extreme hubris and arrogance on the part of the officials seems to result in a level of blindness that is nearly total. They literally seem incapable of learning. The fact they this administration picked department heads from the absolute bottom of the barrel, never considering merit for even a moment, did not help. One must always remember, there were countless issues plaguing the industry, years before Covid, and NONE of them were ever addressed by the lathargic ones. Your industry is dying. You have sabotaged it to no end. And this started long before Covid, so stop with the excuses. Real men take responsibility for their mistakes. Punks, juvenile minds, and men with undeveloped emotional natures refuse to take responsibility for anything, and it makes them look like more of a fool. And there were countless other countries with alot of appeal, who were and are trying much harder. The heavy hitters, and the wealthy tourists have found many other places that meet their need for a nice bottle of wine with dinner (that is not overpriced to a mind boggling degree), a sommelier at the hotel who knows their wine, reasonable luxury goods, so the wife can shop here while on vacation, law and order that addresses jet ski scammers, sewage being dumped into the ocean in resort areas, highway safety, control over the taxi goons, and far better transportation options (high speed trains, helicopters available for transport, to avoid the massively choked highways, which are due to a complete lack of planning for 7 decades, when it comes to the movement of cargo, etc. It is more and more apparent by the day, that the destruction and sabotage of Thailand's tourism industry was likely deliberate, and planned out. Nothing else makes sense. They have been wanting to get rid of the nightlife for as long as they have been in power. What better way to do this, than use the cover of Covid? Reduce the entire industry to ashes, then rebuild it, in their own pure as snow image. Without a trace of nightlife, or a hint of a sex industry. Of course we know this will not only mean a total failure to ever revive the tourism industry, but likely a larger sex industry. Try to stop it, and oppress it, and what happens? It just grows. When you have a nation that pays 3,000 to 5,000 baht a month more for a college graduate with a 4 year degree (after a very expensive education) than an unskilled laborer, what choice do some women have?

Tourism confidence in Thailand plummets amid economic jitters

Total nonsense. Absolute lies. They just cannot admit truth. It is quiet here now. Most tourism operators are complaining. -
Car plunges into sea at Sattahip pier following argument
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
I have had a few arguments in the car, over the years. Never drove off a pier, or fell into the sea over one. You are wrong. No, I am right! Do not contradict me. Why are we arguing about this? Oops, I think I forgot to look where we were going. Sorry guys, I think we are heading for the big dunk. -
Weakening baht boosts Thailand’s exports and tourism
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Make up your minds! I thought they were worried about tourism numbers. There is a different story every day. One would think the weakening of the baht, which was way over valued, should help some. But, there are alot of other issues. About 2 dozen of them. -
Quite amusing. I would describe them as being some of the easiest cops to deal with, as long as you do not have major needs. Most are fairly friendly, and nearly all will go away with a small bribe. That can be very convenient. I have met some cops who were quite kind and helpful, over the years. Not like back in the US, where the vast majority of law enforcement can be quite unpleasant, authoritative, unfriendly, and difficult. And sometimes quite dangerous.

Tourism confidence in Thailand plummets amid economic jitters
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
And they should be nervous. Very, very nervous. The extreme hubris and arrogance on the part of the officials seems to result in a level of blindness that is nearly total. They literally seem incapable of learning. The fact they this administration picked department heads from the absolute bottom of the barrel, never considering merit for even a moment, did not help. Covid could have been a great opportunity for a reset. There is nothing to suggest anything like that happened. And talk to us about the sacrifices you fools are willing to make, to get tourism back. It is not magic. You will not open your doors and have millions pouring in again. Get that? When you kick an animal that is already ill enough times, it eventually dies. Your industry is dying. You have sabotaged it to no end. And this started long before Covid, so stop with the excuses. Real men take responsibility for their mistakes. Punks, juveniles, and men with undeveloped emotional natures refuse to take responsibility for anything, and it makes them look like more of a fool. One must always remember, there were countless issues plaguing the industry, years before Covid, and NONE of them were ever addressed by the lathargic ones. And there were countless other countries with alot of appeal, who were and are trying much harder. There are countless issues here, which prevent wealthy people from visiting, much less living here. The most common complaints I have heard from wealthy friends who visit, is that we will never return to Thailand, because the wife cannot shop. She refuses to get taken for a ride, and will not spend $12,500 on the new handbag she has her eyes on, as it is $4,500 at home, and elsewhere. Rich people tend to be savvy and smart. The Thai authorities continue to insist, based on their policies, that these people are dumb. Go ahead. Continue with your nonsense. And there are a few wealthy ex-pats living here, in retirement. Maybe 150?, not counting the ones who work here. Likely, most of them are single. The fact is Thailand could be doing a dozen different things to make itself more attractive to both tourism and investment. But, all the things it could do, to make itself a better version of its current self, would require sacrifice and vision. Not something this army led govt. nor Sretta and the PT seem capable of. Major tax breaks, drastic lowering of luxury and wine taxes, allowing ownership of land and homes by foreigners, relaxation of inane visa laws, ridding the administration of xenophobic ministers, beginning a program of hiring based on merit, improving traffic safety, paying attention to the air and the environment. The list goes on and on and on. Will any of this happen? One can hope. But, it is unlikely as this administration is likely to be another in a continuing chain of backward thinking, non progressives. They love projections, prognosticactions, declarations and platitudes. But when it comes to the nuts and bolts, and practical improvements, so far, they appear to be absolutely lost in space. Thailand has been moving backwards, from being the tiger of SE Asia, to bring a pathetic, sickly, anemic alley cat, begging for scraps, for the past decade. Nothing is changing, despite Sretta's $800,000,000 smile.- 76 replies

PM Puts Weapon Systems Procurement On Hold

If he is sincere about this, which is questionable, the army must be pissed off, and doubting they chose the correct puppet for the job. -
PM Vows To Keep Flooding And Drought ‘In Balance’
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
You see, I managed to trick thousands of people into buying small, overpriced, high profit condos, and got rich doing it. So, I have established power over nature, my dominion, and the universe. And now I am PM of the most powerful and important nation on earth. I am a master of my destiny and that of my nation. I am not talking about effective policy. I am talking about total control over nature. Watch, and learn. -
This man is so pathological, so caught up in his own delusion, that he likely believes his own false narrative. When someone has done nothing but lie for his entire lifetime, truth must seem very scary, and threatening. He would likely be more familiar with the great outdoors, or a national park, than any sort of truth or integrity. Hopefully, this is his downfall, and the law has finally caught up to him, after a lifetime devoted to swindles, grifting and crime.

What is the deal with all the skin lasers shops around Bangkok
spidermike007 replied to DonniePeverley's topic in Bangkok
Most I have met want a bigger nose, that is narrower. I explain that in the US many women have the size of their huge noses reduced. They look at me like I am from Mars.
