  1. Allowing ourselves to possess a belief system, that insists in believing only that which we can touch, smell, taste, see, hear or feel is quite a limitation. There is so much to this universe and creation that we know absolutely nothing about. Does that mean it does not exist? Did gravity not exist before Newton? Did natural selection of the species not exist prior to Darwin?
  2. Very true. And as we know, juries are only as good as the legal team the defense can put together. Think OJ? Granted, the American judicial system sure beats China, Russia and Thailand. Flawed, yes. The best? Questionable.
  3. True. But, karma is a strange thing. It may be lifetimes before it catches up with a guy like Trump. And there is another rather strange phenomenon at work. It does appear as if the universe is set up in such a way that men of very low character and ethics seem to be supported and appear to thrive. It is as if they are needed for the drama to continue.
  4. As an American who is currectly in the US working, I would be only be willing to live here if I was getting paid $3 million a year. It is a rather joyless place. It is all about the money. It is a great spot if you want everyone 10 years younger than you, referring to you as sir. All my single friends here are struggling to find a date. It is a great place if you like women who are more masculine than you are, and find it very difficult to manifest the dignity within femininity. Lastly, it is very expensive now. A friend who has a place in both Monaco and London said on his recent visit to LA, that it was more expensive than either of those spots now. Don't consider moving to America unless money and value are not an object. And don't even get me started about labor costs here.
  5. I do believe in due process. I also believe the system is rigged. And that the chances of an ex prez being charged and jailed are very low. I hope I am wrong. His guilt was never in doubt. That is just who he is, and how he rolls.
  6. Thank you. I was living in NYC during the 1980's, and saw even back then, how he refused to pay his small contractors for a job well done. He has been building a fortune based on crime, deceit, and the misfortune of others, for believing in him, for decades now. And now he continues to mislead his followers, in a rather horrendous and dangerous fashion. You have succinctly described the mindset required to buy into his nonsense and delusion. I do think America is at a place right now, that can be equated with the place Western Rome was at, in the second half of the 5th century AD. The fall of the empire is imminent. Civil War is being stoked. Hatred and division is being formented. Being a divider is ugly and hateful, but is has served Trump well. Personally, I hope he gets locked up. He richly deserves that.
  7. True. But it is about health. Many already have stomach issues, hernias, and digestive problems. Add an excessive amount of beer to an already bad condition and it can be quite damaging.
  8. Gastro issues, acid reflux, tapeworm, and stomach cancer are very prevalent in Thailand. The nation has a significant number of deaths per annum, from stomach related maladies and stomach cancer. I would guess som tam, and many of the funky and fermented foods are at least partially to blame. Excessive beer consumption does not help, especially on top of pre-existing stomach issues.
  9. It sounds as if she does not have to the courage to divorce him. It is not working out? You don't approve of his behavior? Move on, woman!
  10. Was this posted for it's entertainment value, or is it some sort of glorification of violence?
  11. Innocent of what? Innocent is not an adjective that comes to mind when discussing Trump.
  12. The authorities within Thailand are living in a state of delusion. You don't just create an upmarket destination, purely as a result of wishful thinking. There are a dozen valid reasons why most wealthy tourists AVOID Thailand. No discussion of the sacrifices needed to attract wealthy tourists. No discussion of lowering luxury taxes, improving transport options, or increasing public safety. These bottom of the barrel guys like Phiphat and Anutin are living in a parallel universe. Their wealth seems to prevent them from having anything even approaching a clear vision. They are suffering from total delusion. Most people come to Thailand due to the economics. If it gets expensive enough, it ceases to appeal to the vast majority of tourists. Thailand is not Monte Carlo and it will never be an upscale destination. Never.
  13. I am hoping against hope he gets charged and convicted. Lock him up!
  14. I find alot of posts on social media to be rather silly. But, to brag about a crime? That is beyond silly. That is dumb.
  15. Absolutely not. I don't dance in circles for anyone. I pay my rent on time and take very good care of the property. If anyone should be the sycophant, it should be my landlord. Fortunately, she is a kind and decent woman. And is very responsive when something needs to be fixed or done. I would rather move than have to behave in such an insincere and silly fashion. I am not very good at groveling. Never been my forte.
  16. The indifference, and ineptitude of the government and the ease with which it's representatives (inspectors) and can be bought. It is easy to blame the owners. But people will always try to take shortcuts. When it is a public venue, it is on the inspectors to call out the issues, and take action.
  17. I simply cannot imagine a worse fate. Assuming she survives, how does one carry on after something like that? We have to be very, very grateful for our health and well being. It is not something to take for granted.
  18. This guy is more or less an exiled despot. Let us hope Thailand does not become the new Dubai, with it's embrace of super rich exiled men with nowhere else to go.
  19. If there is any good news associated with this, it is that it does not appear to be random, nor a mass shooting.
  20. It is vitally important to go after real criminals, who are ravaging the nation with the serious nature of their crimes. Keep Thailand safe!
  21. First they were closed entirely. Which cost alot of jobs and led to alot of business closures. Bars, clubs and even restaurants. Couldn't even serve beer. Five star hotels could not serve booze. Now? It would appear that desperation is setting in. Good. The goons need to start behaving themselves, living without a state of panic, and allowing the people to make a living.
