So why does he not just release his tax information in order to prove that it is fake news?
He can't. He won't. His guilt prevents that. He will continue to lie and deflect. That is what the fake master does best. He even lies about his successes, even though he has 17 major business failures and his companies have been losing money for decades. He is a failure. On all levels. Lock him up!

And that fake WMD agenda made it all the more disingenuous. Now, after approximately 650,000 Iraqi lives have been lost, over 4,500 American lives and over 320 coalition lives, the real question is what was the sacrifice for, and was it worth it? The vast majority would say absolutely not.
And nobody knows how much treasure has been spent. Many trillions undoubtedly.
This is why I think all future presidential candidates should be combat veterans. Cowards make decisions based on ignorance and a false sense of bravado. Veterans know better.

Now, she needs to be arrested, prosecuted, and jailed. It will set an example. And the teachers that are participating in gang rape, and molestation of their students, need to be given a life term in prison, all family assets seized, and have their family names published nationally. Some strong action needs to be taken. Bad teachers seem to have some sort of official protection here.

Very interesting. I have long thought that the Thai people have some sort of immunity to Covid. There were about 1.5 million tourists in Thailand during November, December, January and February. Many were likely infected. Yet, very few Thais were infected. Why? Not coincidence? Not a lack of exposure.

I understand perfectly what your view is. You are quite clear. This is your view: Despite the Constitution of the USA saying that the President of the USA is to nominate a Justice upon a created vacancy, you believe that a survey should be the deciding factor (and evidently a Justice dying wish), instead of the Constitution of the USA.
Likewise, you believe that the Senate should ignore their constituents and not give consent to the President's choice despite having a current majority. This clearly stated is what your position is. "C'mon man" your position is easily comprehended. But, alas, I was raised to be a "devotee" to the Constitution of the United States of America, to hold this document to be only one notch below the Bible in terms of its importance.
You weren't? When did this change for you? What caused you to reject the constitution of the United States? Can you come up with an answer without casting blame, that shows the logical progression that changed your view, away from one that loves and admires the Republic, to one that wishes to cast it away?
Yes, I can.
Mitch McConnell. Back in 2016. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell vowed again Wednesday to block President Obama's Supreme Court nomination, saying the American people should have a "voice" in the process. "I believe the overwhelming view of the Republican Conference in the Senate is that this nomination should not be filled, this vacancy should not be filled by this lame duck president," McConnell said.
"The American people are perfectly capable of having their say on this issue, so let's give them a voice. Let's let the American people decide. The Senate will appropriately revisit the matter when it considers the qualifications of the nominee the next president nominates, whoever that might be," McConnell said.
And Lindsay Graham. Back in 2016. "I want you to use my words against me. If there's a Republican president in 2016 and a vacancy occurs in the last year of the first term, you can say Lindsey Graham said, 'Let's let the next president, whoever it might be, make that nomination,' " he said in 2016 shortly after the death of Justice Antonin Scalia. "And you could use my words against me and you'd be absolutely right." What changed, exactly. Please break that down for me.
So, what changed? Besides political expedience?

As usual, Trump is lying and distorting the facts. What he really meant, is that he paid millions in taxes to states, overseas tax authorities, and social security benefits for employees. He only paid $750 in personal and corporate taxes in the US. Of course, this is a very embarrassing revelation. Especially this close to the election. And his taxes also likely reveal his Grinch nature, and the extreme lack of charitable contributions.
There was no question he was hiding alot, when he refused to release his returns. There is nothing about this release of his returns that will help him. This is only going to damage him more than he is already hurt. He is very damaged goods! Biden by 7-12 million votes.

What Mud? This is routine. A Justice has died. A Justice is being replaced. See my latest post regarding the official record on this. Stop trying to destroy our Country please. It's just a fact that the Senate is controlled by the President's party. The seat made vacant belongs to the people of the USA and the Constitution speaks about how this is to be done. This is not deserving of a Democrat national freak out.
Once again if you need to understand this:
And once again the people have spoken. Surveys show 62% say they want whoever is elected in November, to appoint a justice family. Why is that so hard for the devotees to comprehend?

The household was very generous with the food and drink as per usual. Served all sorts of dishes. I was happy with the pla nin. Although one of the larger ones looked familiar. Didn't participate with the alcohol as I've got to drive to Nong Khai later. Wife is still there though; scurrying about.
I've been considering giving some of my Mekong catfish to the local temple. They have grown well; in fact very well. The biggest two are over 1.4 metres long and all over one metre. I have 19, and they dominate the other fish at feeding time. If I could get some muscle on the job, for the catching, I reckon I could donate 9.
I did have some feeding posts, that just needed old fruit and veg' to get maggots for free. I'm thinking of putting in a few to cut down on the cost of feed. When I do eventually stock with fingerlings, I'll put the automated feeding stations in all ponds.
The big mekongs are in pond #5 (from the left).
The lady next to us didn't plant rice this year. She planted rosella. I knew it as sorrel in the Caribbean. Very nice drink. She is harvesting at the moment and is getting 100 baht a kilo for dry. Interesting!
Great post. Thanks. Fascinating life. We own alot of land in Isaan, and plan to move there in the near future. My wife's family is absolutely delightful, helpful, hard working, self reliant, and honest. A real honor to be part of their clan.
I pay tribute to your neighbor, and applaud her creativity. I don't hear many good things about growing rice, and would never engage in that kind of sustenance crop growing. So many more progressive crops out there. Did she take some time to convert the soil, or was she able to switch right away?
I find alot of the folks in Issan to be lovely people. It is another planet, but it is a very nice planet!

And he had between four and six major bankruptcies (depending on the source), including the Trump Taj Mahal (which he spent $1.2 billion building, and was $3 billion in debt within a year of opening), Trump's Castle, Trump Place Hotel (which was very successful prior to Trump buying it in 1988, and he managed to put it into $550 million in debt by 1992!), Trump Hotels and Casinos Resorts ($1.8 billion in debt by 2004, bankrupt in 2009) , and Trump Entertainment Resorts. There are likely others. Nearly anything with his name on it, and his association with it, fails. And that will be even more so, after he loses the November 3rd election. His name will remain radioactive, the the rest of his life, and the mini empire will continue to dwindle. During the period from 1985 to 1989, three years of which were boom year in NY real estate, he somehow managed to lose $359 million. Between 1990 and 1991 he lost $517 million. And between 1992 and 1995 he again managed to lose $286 million.
The real irony of his whole persona, is that he cannot negotiate his way out of a paper bag, much less negotiate a treaty with an adversary, which makes him very dangerous.
There is a very good chance his tax returns will reveal massive bank fraud. And he could be facing prison time, once he is ingloriously ushered out of the White House in January (possible by US Marshalls, should he resist).
I was referring to Trump Plaza, not Trump Place hotel. It was run very successfully by Westin, when he purchased it. His rather unsucessful history with this historic, landmark property.
Trump installed his wife, Ivana Trump, as the hotel's president. After $50 million in renovations, the hotel was earning a healthy operating income, but not enough to make the payments on its heavy debt load. Trump made plans to pay off the hotel's debt by selling off many of its units as condominiums. As has been the case with most of his businesses, it was not a success. A deal was instead reached for the Plaza's creditors, a group of banks led by Citibank, to take a 49% stake in the hotel in exchange for forgiveness of $250 million in debt and an interest rate reduction. The agreement was submitted as a prepackaged bankruptcy in November 1992.

Unbelievable hubris and arrogance. The authorities should be begging the tourists to stay. Free, unlimited visas, 10,000 baht hotel vouchers, and free meals. An immigration officer will come to your hotel to renew your visa, to show our appreciation, of your continued support. Half price air tickets for domestic travel. Princely treatment. Thank you so much for helping to rescue our economy and our people.
Instead, what do they get? Threats of jail time and fines. Beyond Inane. Are these nitwits even capable of learning and evolving? It would appear not. A truly regressive administration. One would have hoped this disaster would have allowed them to develop some humility. Too much to ask?

a few points here ,the economy is falling apart, peoples lives have been ruined.no support is given to unemployed people at all now whilst some members of society are zillionaires.they do nothing for their own.the tourist business is the bedrock of the economy whether u like it or not, people have a right to work not poverty as the govt gives them nothing although it has a lot.this must stop, the region has so few cases it can be opened up from japan to india thru viet hk taiwan philippines malaysia and singapore.people will need a neg test within 72 hrs and test again on entry.all clear u wait your test result in quarantine at a reasonable price, stop this insanity of racist rip offs for the empty hotels.i can stay at a 5 star hotel here for 900 B a night look at the net booking will show you. everyone knows you r game, its one of thailands no 1s.we see arguements about whether covids here, well the govt do not test the rates below 1% of the pop one of the lowest in the world, why?false positives are common,of the 700k test done we would get at least 20k false but none.why?the chinese in millions were here and the govt would not remove them no matter what anyone said.why?thats a reservoir of infection and when the govt sacked millions of workers they massed at rail and bus stations.at a time it was very prevalent.pneumonia deaths suddenly shot up then they went down.why?borders are porous and chinese and burmese run across all the time the camb and lao sides too so......thailand and its self importance and lies ...a never ending story ask boss.or the guy with all the expensive watches.this is a culture of dishonesty within govt ,its at every level so whys this any different?close your eyes and you see nothing, dont look at the poverty or suffering dont look at the mega rich dont look at a collapsing economy and businesses ,close those eyes its just not there.we will have to learn to live with it,its endemic now get on with it and spare us the supercillious lies, prepare to deal with cases, across the world econs have opened up in different ways from india to sweden.WHO is an edifice with no credibility, listen to what they didnt say to taiwan, they said no human/human transmission, flights from china no problem.nope theyre done cooked their own goose just jobs for the china boys.this whole covid deal is full of lies corruption and money, vaccines they may or may not work depending on where they come from, figs that have been manufactured to fit an agenda ask UK about that and here, its gone on everywhere,in USA so ins comps cash in.its never ending.the simple fact is its here endemic and we need to help the frail and weak and the rest of us get on with it.
You make some very valid points. The only ones like Dr. Thira Woratanarat that are advocating for denying foreigners the ability to enter Thailand, are well off, well paid, getting full benefits, or collecting sizable pensions. Little sympathy for the plight of the masses. Not sure of the wisdom of a 7 day quarantine. It does seem that a 10 day quarantine would be plenty safe, combined with the covid tests, prior to departure.
Thailand is hurting. The tourism industry is hurting. Millions are hurting. Time for the extreme timidity of the army to end, and the time is now.

I could have sworn there were several airlines, travelling five times faster, for less money than the government railroad will lose on every ticket sold.
It is so much easier, and more efficient to use the rail. Typically, the average person spends at least 3 additional hours with a domestic flight, when you factor in travel to the airport, waiting, security, delays, etc. And time at the destination airport too. Any nation that wants to call itself developed, needs high speed rail. The US being the exception to that rule, as the vision, and will was never there to get it done.
45 minutes from BKK to Pattaya? Brilliant. Which airline runs that route? How about Bangkok to Hua Hin, or Chumporn? Right now, it is a nightmare journey by road, unless you leave Bangkok at 5am, which I usually do, to get past the insane road work in Samut Sakorn. How about getting into Bangkok, from the north, or the south, during the day? I have spent three hours just traveling from Saraburi to BKK. Any flights?

Not to worry, if republicans do not want to stand by their word, that they spoke in 2016, during the Garland nomination process, the dems would be wise to load up the courts, with another 3-6 justices, once the GOP majority in senate is eliminated, along with the orange one.
Nine is probably too few anyway. Why not? If they want us to grovel, we can get down into their mud.

The perfect investment here is called "The Chocolate Bar". You specialize in only beautiful and young dark skinned women. The supply is extensive, as these women do not consider themselves gorgeous, due to their skin color. You treat them well, and offer bonuses for top earners. Make them proud of their bronze beauty. When a gorgeous light skinned chick shows up for an interview, you tell her sorry we don't like white chicks. Not beautiful enough. We love dark!
Nobody is doing this. There is no competition. It would be an instant success.

Not news. What is news are the countless bad eggs here, who abuse their students, rape their students, and get away without so much as an arrest. This happens frequently. Predatory Thai teachers. How about some more news about those scum?
Overcoming the trauma of being locked in a bathroom for an hour is fairly easy to do. And the former? A lifetime of trauma. Those teachers should be locked up for life.

This is not necessarily about tax evasion, as much as it is 17 failed enterprises. It takes alot of hubris to have that many businesses fail. Trump steaks. Trump University. Really? Taking a course from a man who dropped out of business school? Trump airlines.
I think the two primary reasons he does not want his tax returns released is they will demonstrate both his total lack of charitable giving and his bank fraud.
No worries. Just a few more months of this guy, and the world will be freed from his foolishness.

With this plan
so I assumed the plan was for HSR as per that article. Looking at the track being laid down to Cha Am it does indeed look narrow gauge, so as you say, just a second track to allow 2 way traffic so to speak.
However the Bangkok Post also published this on October 2019.
So have you read somewhere that the plans have been scrapped which in my view would be a shame?
Let us hope. The country desperately needs high speed transport. Yesterday.

Though it does sound like this guy over reacted, that is somewhat besides the point here. It is the heinous defamation laws, and the willingness of the authorities to use them, at this time, that calls into question the horrible judgment of this administration.
At a time when the tourism industry is suffering it's worst crisis ever, this is just crazy dumb, tone deaf and a further demonstration that they have no idea how to fix this tragedy, and guys like Pipat and Prayuth are totally in over their heads.
The defamation laws were written by sold out cowards, to protect rotten players from reprisals, due to bad service, faulty products and bad business. They have no place in today's world. They represent a heinous over reach of toxic power.

The nation needs something more akin to the FFP. Younger, more progressive minds. The age of the dinosaurs is coming to an end. They are nearly extinct. Soon, the great and courageous youth of Thailand will demonstrate that they are the only hope this nation has of moving forward. They are the true patriots and they will take over. They will oust the super toxic army. Just watch. It is inevitable. Away with the prehistoric clowns.

At least you avoided the train, would have been several days. Looking forward to the High Speed Bullet train planned and already under construction. Hope it's safe on the tracks as it approaches its max of 37 kilometres per hour.
From what I understand, there is no high speed rail under construction in Thailand. All of the construction seems to be for a second rail. Which will speed things up slightly. Some new rolling stock, to replace the 60 year old cars.
There are no plans to increase rail cargo, which would take pressure off the clogged highways.

You've been living under a rock. Representatives from the U.S. Consulate have been at the last several gatherings of the CM Expats Club helping Americans to register to vote. If you enroll in STEP https://step.state.gov/ and let the State Dept know that you live in Chiang Mai, you'll receive helpful emails several times a month about local events, like antigovernmental demonstrations that are best avoided. They did a great job of keeping us updated about the Covid situation and flights to the U.S., etc.
Before Covid, they hosted meetings at least once a year on subjects like Social Security, voting from abroad, etc.
In my experience, they do at least as much as the Australian Embassy and much more than the British Embassy. (I'm on the email lists of all three)
OK. I stand corrected. Thanks for the info.

I recently took a bus from Samui to Hua Hin. It was a very comfortable VIP govt. bus with 24 seats, only 8 of which were occupied. The only issue was road construction. It slowed us down. And it was late at night. Took over 9 hours from Don Sak to HH and arrived at 4am. Thailand needs to improve on high speed transport.

Some Thai men represent an overly entitled gender here in the LOS. Boys from an early age are told they are special.
What parents need to start doing is to tell their sons:
1. You are nothing special. You become special when you prove yourself to be a worthy person. An exemplary character. A cut above the rest. Someone who gives and does not just take.
2. Your sister is special. She works hard, she is ambitious, and she is not lazy. Prove yourself to be at least equal to her. Women run this country.
3. Respect is not freely given. It must be earned. Go out into the world and earn respect.
4. Make your mark on the world. And pay your own way. All Thai men should be asked to leave home by the age of 20. Unless they are severely handicapped, or have real, true, special needs.
