    Why not all areas?

It's a very valid point. Remove the dogs from the tourist areas (abundant food & scraps) and the void will be immediately filled by the smarter strays in the area.

Selective area clearance will not work unless it is sustained. That may be a reach.

  2. Hi Jim,

Through experience I would guess that it was Parvo, and please note that this is purely a guess. We lost a Siberian pup (just under 6 months old) to this a few years ago. It happened very quickly. Apparently the anti-parvo shot was not part of the vaccination package the pup had received; at the time I was completely clueless to this horrible virus.

I remember the vet's advice to completely disinfect the areas the dog used and that it can take up to 3 months for traces of parvo to be completely eradicated. Again, have to emphasize, this is only a guess as it could be many other reasons.

Even if this is not solved God is still on the throne and he said that it would be better for him to to have a milestone tied to his neck and thrown into the sea then to fall into the hands of the living God, for so much as harming even one hair on a child.

Who's God are we talking about?

Not everybody believes in the same, but to some, belief is the answer. Why would your God let it happen in the first place?

The head of the operators' association of Walking Street, South Pattaya, told Manager that proposed infrastructure work in the heart of the city's lightlife district will definitely have an adverse impact on tourism.

What does he mean by having an adverse impact on tourism? Why do it at all?

Adverse to me means unfavourable, contrary to interests. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Comments like that must mean they are really trying to kill off Pattaya once and for all. Good luck with that...................

Sounds as if it is a military weapon as I suspected.

Do the military buy their own weapons as well as the police?

If it was a military weapon why would they have 13 individuals report with their personal weapons for checks instead of checking the armouries of the various camps in the area and check the inventory?

Even if (and this is highly doubtful) weapons were signed out as personal weapons, the armouries are still responsible for them.

    Tourist x2 in that time.

So boring these “TVF Tourist not come to thailand anymore” stories.

39 million last year. Most ever. More people are staying Airbnb/ private villa.

So the big rich hotel owner complain a lot.

But the “small” people with a villa or condo now take the business.

    IMO i like it.

Some place, like Pattaya, in industry area will pollution is less popular.

but beautiful Kao Lak etc more busy.

Yinn, there is no questioning that tourism has increased in their numbers. This has been caused by demographic changes, more people able to travel for much less, large countries allowing people to travel more freely, race/country specific targeting by TAT.

It is however a complete change in Thai tourism as to how to cater for the 'targeted' tourist, almost an entire new infrastructure to cater for the Chinese visitors and more recently another change for the increase in Indian visitors. On the flip side, the tourism of the western countries seems to have been ignored to a degree by TAT, no mention of incentives going that way it seems. Add to that the increase in reported incidents at the major air entry points regarding tourists being turned away/refused entry by IO's formatting rules on the fly, to me anyway it is apparent there is no coordination between immigration & the Thai tourist authority. On this point I understand that the majority of refusals is towards 'long stayers' gaming the system, but mixed stories, none of them good are being broadcast via the media blackening Thailand's eye towards even potential tourist numbers from the west.

I also recognize the strength of the Baht does not help. But these are only personal observations, my own views (even though they are indeed happening for all to see). TAT seem to be focusing too intently, not covering all their bets.

    Yes i have had Rottweilers

Rottweilers are big and strong and from my experience like all big dogs ,clumsy boisterous and playful not dangerous

However if they have been trained to be they will be!

A lot of people blaming the breed and not thinking what they have been trained for as mentioned by poohy above. With few exceptions, for a dog that has been raised in a family environment to attack (any breed) it has either been abused or has been trained to do so. This includes actual physical attack through territorial behavior (being noisy).

This argument IMHO should also include the individual countries that have 'banned breeds' that some posters have mentioned. We had some statistics shown earlier referring to attacks from breeds like labradors, German shepherds, huskies, etc; why aren't these breeds banned as well?

By banning entire breeds you lull the public into a false sense of safety, as any canine is capable of attack, dependent on subject to abuse, trained to protect/attack and mental stability.

And just to throw an olive branch to the dog haters out there, the exception to the above is that certain breeds can become protective of their owners, and when two or more dogs are together the pack mentality will take over if an attack is made. Owners will know this and it should be their responsibility to make everyone aware, ie, control access to their environment.

Without banning dogs as pets completely, it is impossible to have an incident free cohabitation with these animals or, as they are sometimes called, pets.

  8. OP, believe me that you aren't the first and definitely won't be the last to get dodgy thumb drives from online sources.

Seems the main indicator is the price of the drive. If it looks too much like a bargain, don't go for it. The second thing that I would look for, or rather at, would be the reputation of the seller and also read the comments from buyers. If a lot have been sold, the comments will usually provide clues as to them not working correctly or indeed working well.

I lived in Manila for 11 years back in the late 70's and 80's and ran the red light district waaaaay too much, but I never had a problem and never knew of anyone being scammed or attacked. As in most red light districts there was a mafia that protected the area and they policed their own. They were smart enough to realize that a few bad apples would destroy the business for everyone, so they dealt with them immediately without the necessity for police intervention. Why oh why are the Thais not wise enough to figure that out for themselves. It's not rocket science!

It was the same in Pattaya in the 80's/early 90's, everything was controlled from Chon Buri. That was what made Pattaya tick, what made it a proper party town. Then the whole tourist trend changed with the arrival of the Russians (no blame on the average Russian visitor) who brought their own brand of mafia with them. Thai control was lost, the police became empowered sorting the mess out, and we're all in this situation now. That's the way I saw it happen.

I witnessed how Manilla (Ermita at that time) was controlled in the 80's, Wan Chai in Hong Kong controlled in a similar fashion making it safe to have a fun night out. Not condoning criminal organizations (that would be very hypocritical of me) but sometimes it takes the person with the biggest stick to make it work.

    IMHO of course......................

However, it blew up the computer dongle and nothing more. Restarted and straight to safe opening mode.

?? Which dongle did it blowup and what do you mean by 'safe opening mode'? Did the computer go straight to safe mode after restarting by itself?
