  1. Not sure what the restriction are in the province you're intending travelling to, but if it was Phitsanulok (yes, I know not Issan) you now have to register with the health people and enter a (monitored) 14 day quarantine period.

Don't worry about the health people contact details, you will be told at the checkpoints on every entry & exit point to the city. Random (health) checkpoints everywhere; they really appear to be taking it seriously up here.

Truthfully, not a good time to be thinking travelling anywhere 'long haul' in Thailand at the minute.

Sorry, but isn't it also just as likely that they were infected by getting into a seat from some flying out of Thailand few hours earlier at Heathrow  ? Are they tracing all the people that flew out on the potentially infected plane ? No, thought not.

This virus can be transmitted by the infected inside a 12 hour period?

    Really? That would be scary.

cat making poopoo compost in your dusty garden diggings...

     - certainly nothing to sniff at

I don't have cats myself but the ones I have observed around my area are amazing.

I have watched them go to the toilet and when they have finished their business, they cover it up with soil, bury it.

    Incredible to see.

  4. Well, in these times of stress, I thought this sub-forum would be busier with all the people hiding indoors. Believe me, I would love to do the same if I wasn't still working......

My apologies if I have already posted any of these earlier either in this thread or it's predecessor.

When I do get a minute off, I am practicing & planning for when everyone gets to be social again.................

No it wouldn't because it's going to spread a lot within households first so we're looking at at least a month of this.

Although not wanting to, I fully agree with that comment. This, IMO, is the biggest downside to confining people together (at this stage) regardless of their prior travel and socializing history before being told to stay at home as much as possible. If you can't self-quarantine at your own home, where do you do it? Many can't afford a hotel room.

Many, many families of Thais live together with multiple generations under the same roof. it is certainly a situation caught between a rock and a hard place.

So what is it I am supposed to do again?

Come on NCC, the mission and all that.

But, I, like you, would like to have some sort of heads-up as to what is expected of us tomorrow morning.

The state of emergency was called, starting at 00:01 on the 26th March, but where is the bullet points list for us simple folk to follow? Do I go to work as usual or have there been restriction made in those areas?

  7. What visa or extension do you have now for your current work permit?

You can't work on a visa exemption.

You can't work on an ED Visa (AFAIK I don't think you can convert from exempt/tourist inside Thailand?)

You can't work on a tourist visa.

You need to get the company that is employing you to sort out the paperwork both for your non-immigrant visa and your work permit. Appears that the renewal of the work permit isn't your main problem right now.

Next we'll hear immigration can't process visa because everyone is ill.

That isn't out of the realms of possibility. I am waiting for the first immigration officer, in a local immigration office, being affected. I am certain that if/when this happens things will change, if only to protect the staff.

    That will be interesting.

The problem with this move is that a lot of people will be out of work and if they dont have a job, or at least for a while, they will travel home to all parts of Thailand thus aiding the spread.

@ThaiFelix, not a dig at you specifically but I am fascinated by this logic from yourself and many others. For them (the out of work) to spread the virus would mean they are already infected. If that is the case they shouldn't be working in the first place.

Note in point: not everyone in Bkk is infected. It is (and has) been possible for people, both Thais and Farang, to arrive at any location in Thailand and spread the virus from hotspots they have created, because they didn't register on a thermometer check on arrival. Unless showing symptoms, this in reality is the only check that is carried out.

I assume this isn't what you mean but rather there is a chance by travelling that they may pickup the virus along their travel routes home?

Covid-19 isn't a joke, it never has been and should have been taken seriously by ALL governments at a much earlier stage. However, over reaction is going to be a huge enemy to our societies in the coming weeks/months.

Again ThaiFelix, not a dig, just observation...............:wai:
