  1. Might I suggest that a measure of religious tolerance be practiced in the World?

We could learn a lot from the Thai people. How they tolerate the many 'low lifes' that pitch up here is a lesson in forbearance for us all.

    Another Religious apologist!

Go tell that the Thai Buddhists families in Southern Thailand who have been beheaded by Muslims to be tolerant.

Its twunts like you who give "undeserved" respect and lifetimes of tolerance to Religion who have got the World into the state it is into today.

Humanity would be better of without Religion and you need to reckoginise this.

  2. Racial and ethnic stereotyping and some Islamophobia added isn't ironic nor sarcasm.

    ISLAMAPHOBIA!

A mealy mouthed claptrap term that is used by the liberal pussyfoots and now highjacked by Muslims to silence at root ANY sort of critisizm of there beliefs.

Do you know that rich Muslim Countries are lobbying the United Nations to have a World-wide blashemy law?

Shush your not allowed to discuss it!

Unless you want to go down the route of the bomb and the bullet, the only way you can counter Religious Dogma is by discussion, but increasingly (especialy in Muslim Countries) you are not even allowed to challenge the "undeserved" respect that the religious demand of you peacefully before you open your mouth...conditions are already laid down in thier favour?

  3. The Muslim community as a whole barely ever expresses anger about terrorist attacks made in the name of their religion.

Of course, raving liberals will jump to their defense but why can't the Muslims themselves speak out against terrorists?

The answer why the Muslim community as a whole barely express anger at Islamic terrorst attacks is because those Muslims who dont actually take to murdering non-Muslims are passive supporters.

    FYI,

There is a Muslim term called "Dar al-Harb" it means the "house of war", the term traditionally refers to those Countries administered by non-Muslim governments.

The exact definitions of these territories can vary widely according to the Muslim viewer's interpretation of who is and is not a Muslim, and which governments are or are not Muslim in practice.

The inhabitants of the Dar al-Harb are called harbis and harbis have no rights.

Its written in the Quran and the religious dogma teaches Muslims that the whole World should be one Caliphate ruled by Sharia (Muslim) Law.

Have you ever noticed on the motorway from Suvanabhumi Airport going into Bangkok two new Mosques built right next to the motorway?

They are strategically placed there in the face of millions of travellers to make a statement!

  4. They should go with Thorium reactors. The Chinese are building three to power the next generation of energy requirements in China. Completely safe (as in non-radioactive), impossible to use as a military weapon and perfect for power generation. Anything else is just a recipe for disaster and bound to cause friction with Burma, China, Vietnam, Indonesia, India, Japan, USA...

Also do they really want to be making another massive target for power hungry elite to fight over? Isn't there enough division in Thailand already without having to protect the people from the potential of nuclear weapons and radioactive fallout? Can't you just see a certain person salivating over the possibility for manipulation and self promotion with this one?

The only way for thorium reactors to happen is if Thai people get a clue, get vocal and force the issue about not wanting radioactive weapons grade nuclear. Go safe, go green and use Thorium. It's truly the way of the future and will make Thailand a world leader in energy creation.

A Thorium reactor can be used to boil water and therefore run steam generators. There is enough Thorium in the world to last for thousands of years of energy production at a fraction of the cost and effort that uranium or other highly radioactive and dangerous elements require. It cannot "melt down" as if it gets too hot it expands and self cools. It is the perfect fuel to use for steam powered turbines heated by the heat from the Thorium nuclear reaction.

    Totally agree,

Thorium reactors are the way for the World to get its energy safely with no dangerous by products and consign nuclear reactors to the history of old technology.

Unfortunetely Thorium reactors have the very powerful Nuclear reactor lobby rallied against them, Thorioum reactors were proposed in the European Union but the French who dominate the Nuclear industry in Europe completely closed the debate down...now you dont hear a squeek about Thorium reactors from the French dominated European Union.

Does anybody know who is going to supply Thailand the nuclear technology and know how to build and maintain these nuclear plants?

  5. Anyone who knows about the region is aware that Malaysia never was a "secular" state to begin with so there is no "creeping Islamization" of the country. Malaysia is constitutionally an Islamic state as Islam is enshrined as the official religion in its constitution; and all Malays born in the country are automatically deemed to be Muslim and subject to both secular civil laws and Islamic Sharia laws as they are applied to mainly personal, family, and gastronomic matters.

However, other ethnicities, and foreigners living in the country, are free to practice their own religions or none at all, and are not subject to the strictures of Sharia law. However, they will feel the general "prudy" atmosphere of the country due to the fact that something like 80% of the population are Muslim.

What I like about Malaysia is you get most of the English language ability, "Western" thinking mentality, and scenic tropical beauty found in the Philippines, even the women are similar in appearance being both ethnically Indo-Malay peoples, and the much better infrastructure and general political stability of Malaysia.

The Malaysian system of government and the administration of justice you only need to look at it to know that Malaysia is not (yet) an Islamic State.

The Civil Courts set up under the Constitution dispense secular justice on a daily basis to all the citizens of the country which was originally based on the British Parliamentary system.

Secular law governs contracts, commerce, international relations and trade and every aspect of the lives of a Malaysian citizen. Islamic Sharia law governs specific matters set out in the Federal Constitution in relation to persons professing Islam...now the Islamists have gone beyond that claiming the Malays as Muslim even before they are born?

FYI, The Malays make up over 50% of the population and are not an indiginous race and as such are immigrants the same as the minority Chinese and Indian Malaysian populations, which if you ask any educated Indian or Chinese Malay are heavily discriminated against by the Malay Muslims.

Malaysia is at a crossroads and if you are thinking of your families future as not being subject to Islamic stricture please dont consider moving to Malaysia.

  6. Funny...no one has yet mentioned one of the closest places...Malaysia. Nothing unusual there as it is often overlooked in these type of surveys.

And nobody seems to mention the creeping Islamization of Malaysia.

Malaysia is now non secular, Sharia Law is on par with constitutional law.

Creeping Islamization may not effect you now but if you upped you wife and kids from Thailand who knows what an Islamic future holds for your family?

Moving to Malaysia would be a gamble.

  7. Are you joking or being somewhat sarcastic ? Do you truly believe any member of a Farangs extended family will actualy listen to him , he will get the habitual nod of the head and Atypical response "I know , I know "when they do not know shi_t about shenola in regards to corruption and could care even less .

Corruption has become more imbedded in Thai culture the Buhdism , give us all a break please .

Its the Thai posture of indifference at home that has got them to accept corruption as "normal" behaviour in Thai society in the first place.

Even if you let the extended family know that you know and they continue to be bribed in small amounts, even if just one seed of thought is planted about corruptiuon in thier heads its a start.

I dont really know what Buddhism has got to do with it?

  8. What is the average income of the population of Sarawak?

Next time you do the job of searching, OK?

    Monday, January 25, 2010

KUCHING — The per capita income of the people of Sarawak should be raised to USD$15,000 (RM50,992) per year to enable the state to achieve a developed state status by 2020, said Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud.

He said the per capita income of the people of Sarawak currently was USD7,000 (RM23,796).

  9. Is anyone else just a little more than tired of all the "do as I say not as I do" bureaucrats, politicians and demagogues in the world?

Has it been so long that we have forgotten about ....

    - the UN oil for food scandal

    - the UN procurement contract scandal

    - profiteering by then UN head Kofi Annan's son and their cronies

    - UN "peacekeepers" mass rape of Congolese children

    - etc., etc., etc.

A thoroughly corrupt organization trying to tell nations to stop corruption? Gimme a <deleted>' break! Let's start fixing global corruption by dissolving the UN.

If Thailand wants to fix Thailand's problems with corruption, then it has to come from within, not from signing another worthless roll of UN toilet paper.

    I Concur,

I keep repeating this like a mantra ..... "CORRUPTION STARTS AT HOME!"

As long as many Thia kids see thier parents leading by example and accepting the 200 Baht/500 Baht from the Pu yai baan (spelling?), from the head of the Village to vote for him, corruption will never cease in Thailand.

To the Farangs who complain about corruption in Thialand,

YOU can do something ....especially those of you who live Upcountry or in a village elswhere.

Those Falangs who just turn a blind eye to the Wife and her extended family are just as guilty as an accessory to the crime as the Wife and extended family are in accepting the bribe.

YOU can help by education and persuation and hopefully preventing the start and social acceptance of corruption at home.

Most Thais just dont see the acceptance of 200 Baht as something bad (its only 200 Baht after all, a days wages) if you dont point out the consequences of thier being bribed to them individually. and to thier Country otherwise.

200 baht becomes 2,000 Baht, 2,000 Baht becomes 20,000 baht, 20,000 baht becomes 2 million Baht, 2 million Baht becomes 20 Million Baht, 20 Million Baht becomes 200 Million Baht, all same same!

  10. Vietnam is good but Laos may be even better because she can speak the language there (Lao very similar to Thai. Luang Prabang is very interesting (3 nights max).

Go see Laos, and not just Luang Prabang.

The Wife and I had a wonderul holiday there cruising to different parts in a new mini-bus (just us 2 and the driver who could speak English).

All the stop over accomodation was good also, but the rooms and service at our last stop in Luang prabang were an excellent suprise.

We pre-arranged the trip through a Guy called Sisombat, check his website out at www.villatreasure.com

And no i dont have any interest in the business, just giving credit where credit is due.

    Note:

have a look at all the "REFERENCES" on the bottom of the link and you will find many links to the logging industry and Mr. Abdul Taib Mahmud's connections and wealth.

    Wealth

Taib Mahmud is said to wear double-breasted suits, driving around in Kuching in his cream-coloured Rolls-Royce car.[60] Laila Taib and her children are the majority shareholders of Sitehost Pty. Ltd., Australia, which owns Adelaide Hilton Hotel, according to Aliran Monthly, the reformist Malaysian magazine.[6] Taib was described as "flamboyant with expensive tastes" and had reportedly purchased a piano once belonged to late American showman Liberace for US$2 million.[61] He also wears a ring with a walnut-sized red gem surrounded by small diamonds.[10]

What is the average income of the population of Sarawak?

  12. A large part of the rain forest has been turned into oil palm plantations. They go on for a hundred kilos or so in parts of the country....all run by the Chinese....my plane landed in Semporna, Sabah...about 1/2 full of Chinese...all biz men.

Cutting down ancient rainforests = Profit no 1.

Planting Oil palm plantations on the ex-rainforest land = Profit no 2.

    Its like being raped twice!

30 years is a long long time for this guy to get away with this, has nobody any balls in Sarawak except threatened Greenpeace Falangs or have any threats to the loggers plans been effectively dealt with?

  13. Consider the typical American. There are only two countries bordering the US. Many US citizens have been to one or the other of these. To reach any other country is very expensive as one needs to travel some 5-15,000 km. Heck, you have to travel nearly nearly 5,000 km from from Washington state to reach Florida. In between are many many interesting holiday venues, natural wonders, and places of interest. It is no wonder most Americans choose to explore the US first.

Very true that most "micro-climates" are available on the USA mainland, you can go skiing in Aspen, sun bathing in Florida etc, although mostly you will be meeting Americans rather than indigionious peoples, throw in the threat of terrorism and no surprise they stay at home.

This will have a diminishing effect on the numbers who land on the shores of Thailand. and of those numbers who get in trouble and land in a Thai prison, the numbers will be diminished even further.

  14. I have to be carefull what I say here, lest the mods jump on me.

    Dear Ramzanepi,

Oh Boy, if its true and your post is not a wind up, I dont envy you.

I have absolutely no problems with homosexuals, but how do you marry up the fact that you are homosexual with the oppressing dogma of the Prophet of the desert that despises you?

Seems very odd for you to support a Muslim Malaysian Government that actively persecutes homosexuals and can punish you with a 20 year long prison sentence, public whipping and fines just for being homosexual.

And thanks as a Muslim for confirming that your holy man did <deleted> a nine year old child called Aisha even before she had reached puberty...sort of gives you an insight into the mentality and real character of the man, no matter what era the man lived in.

It must be terrible to be homosexual and live a secret life in a Muslim Country...you have my sympathy.

    Take care!

    Dear Ramzanepi,

I was hoping you would reply......Oh well!

  15. Most Americans are afraid to travel any were outside their country and to Thailand to mysterious for their anal ways. Fewer travellers fewer crimes.

Being an American I am an exception to this rule because I travel to Asia every oppertunity I get

This is one of the reasons why the USA is described as an insular Country is the low ownership of Passports.

I believe the figures (I am sure someone can come up with them) are around 30% of the population for USA Citizens who hold Passports and around 90% for British Citizens who hold passports.

  16. This 90 day reporting is reminiscent of World War 2 Nazi occupied Europe!

Somethings I love about Thailand but thier immigration/visa/land/ownership laws are as off putting as hel_l having to jump through the loops, it feels like you can never "settle down"?...perhaps that is want they want, Thailand for the Thais?

Besides the shortsighted quick buck side to it, I for one cant fathom why the Thais have these backward policies?

The obvious answer is they dont want you here, except only as a tourist to take your money.

  17. "The head of the youth wing of the opposition Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS), Nasrudin bin Hasan, says drugs, pornography and a lack of moral education have led parents to abandon their children"

Says the expert who believes in fairy stories and an invisible man in the sky!

  18. I have been going to Fairtex on North Pattaya Road and Universe on Sukhumvit. I think that Universe is the best around for the price. They are under new management and have purchased some new equipment. The daily rate is about three times cheaper then Fairtex.

    Fairtex,

Different prices for sure, however the service and facilities reflect that, absolutely first class!

But consistant high class facilities and nobody changing the rules for access to water etc etc versus sharp practices has to be taken into consideration?

You pay for peace of mind as well at the facilities.

  19. This man is not Irish he is a loyalist ie loyal to the Queen of England,he was also a member of a bunch of cowards called the Ulster freedom fighters,(UFF)who where the main suppliers of Heroin to schools and youth club's.He ran away to LOS after a warning from The Irish Republican Army concerning his drug dealing's.A shinning example of Jaffa (Orangeman)May it pass slowly.

No mention then of the terrorist Irish Republican Army profiteering from selling drugs, pornograhy, prostitution, extortion, child murders and all the other vile henous crimes they commited in the name of republicanism?

Come on tell the truth, both sides did/still do it.

I am positive there are fugitives from both sides living in Thailand.

  20. Prayers for this poor kid? If you believe in god you should explain me why he died. Where was god when this littile and defenseless human being was falling from the balcony?

They Religious havent got a credible answer....because tragic events like this expose thier beliefs to the fraud they prescribe to.

The usual answer that the religious trot out at times like this is " Its all in Gods plan " <deleted>....please explain Gods plan ????????

    RIP liitle one.

  21. Your imported killing machine sounds like some mean dude that aint the normal run of the ranch feline, Whats its name..... SIR? :)

Erm, rather embarrassingly, its "Sugar" (not my fault, blame the kids! - He doesn't realise, so shshshshsh!). I have lived in 3 houses in Chiang Mai since he came - and each time he has cleared an aea around our house where soi dogs do not wander - he frightens the crap out of them - they are used to seeing those skinny little Thai stray cats that run from them, but he was brought up with my Dogue De Bordeaux (60Kg) so those little unwashed muts learn that he is far from scared and stands his own. He is solitary too, so doesn't tolerate local cats either.

The thought of the viscious ruler of the Soi with such a sweet name as "Sugar", hahahahahahahahahahaha that got me.

    I,m intrigued now,any photo?

Pssst, please dont tell Sugar I am laughing at his name will you?
