Reporting in the US must be bad. I am reading most Russians are with Putin (as in supporting the war). The propaganda machine is working! Also I am reading Russians don't know the extent of the war.

Wow, Curious who would actually do this. I am sure their are some that would. But who?

Since the US , Europe and others have put extensive sanctions on Russia, and it has caused the latest TOT prediction of tourist arrivals to dry up. I expect Thailand to declare war on any country on the list.

If I were a country Thailand targeted for tourism it would scare me to death. Every time they target a country there is a catastrophe.

Thailands vote to condemn Russia is nice but followed up by joining the sanctions and shipping weapons to Ukraine would be nicer.
The general could start his day by going through the inventory and see what he can spare......
I heard they are sending submarines.

Rumor is they are going to invade Jomtien!

Talked to a friend in Udon Thani a couple of days ago and they said the plane they were in was mostly all Russians.
They arrived from Europe right before the invasion.

Greed and ignorance , playbook for disaster. The government set themselves up for this disaster and it played out.

I thought TAT was trying to move away from Thailands reputation in the sex industry and bar scene, what do they think most of these middle eastern men want from Thailand? They are not coming here for a suntan, beaches or temples!!!
Exactly, I used to live part time in south Thailand. Muslims poured into Thailand, then back to Malaysia.

The Permanent Representative of Thailand to the United Nations has expressed support for a diplomatic solution regarding the Russia-Ukraine crisis.
Me too, I have about as much influence as these guys, which is none!

And Russia will not call the invasion of Taiwan a invasion.

Stocks and Energy Markets Whipsaw After Russian Attack on Ukraine
Stocks in Europe were sharply lower, but the S&P 500 rebounded after an early decline. Energy markets swung wildly, and shares in Moscow collapsed.https://www.nytimes.com/2022/02/24/business/economy/stock-market-today.html

Updated 4:31 p.m. ET (meaning 4:31 AM 25 FEB Bangkok time)I was quick on the draw. I bought a small amount of index funds the day before the invasion. And bought the S&P 500 fund the day before the invasion. The morning of the invasion I doubled my index fund purchase and put in a call for the S&P 500. Which I canceled at the end of the day. Crazy.
I had read some statistics saying this is how it usually played out.

I would not doubt if we see China start their push pretty soon. China will play a wait and see game, on how it goes in the Ukraine.

The Thai necktie will keep tightening for western expats. Russia and China will be the market in the future. Just a matter of how long now, and how fast they want to tighten the noose.

Thailand has been heading downhill for a long time now. Only tourists I can see coming into Thailand in numbers now is when China opens up and Thailand makes a deal with them to drop all testing and restrictions.

Just look at your pictures. They really carry the reality of what is going on in Thailand right now.
I am one of the many whom you refer to has "writing off Thailand". There is no interest for me to go there in any way. I've gone to Mexico instead, and it was no big deal.
Alll the younger ones in my family are dying to travel now - to Bali. Thailand is not even on their list. Thailand has changed, for me, irreparably. We know who they want to go there once the borders open - and that's fine I guess.
Central america is awesome (but not as safe of course!).
Here is one more with ya. My Thai GF of over 14 years has lost her business and is trying to get me to come back.
No way am i going back.

Russian exodus puts Thailand’s tourism rebirth at risk as Asia longs for absent visitors
in Thailand News

Thailand put all of it's eggs in one basket. Russia and China. Both countries economy's are in the toilet. Thailand does not have a snowball's chance in H$ll to see tourists arriving in numbers for YEARS to come. The Thai people can thank the current guys in charge for that. The Thai hay day is over plain and simple.
Same as any large company where the CEO's made bad financial decisions for years.
