I have to agree.  In California the Golden Gate Bridge is a favorite place for those people who want to go in a spectacular 200' drop to the cement like top of the water.  It is also the number one place for suicides in the world. Those that do not die instantly are turned in basically a bag of jelly as all of their bones are broken.  I worked as a LEO covering the Bridge back in the late 90's and we had Suicides and then many attempted suicides where our folks or the hostage negotiators from SFPD would do the best to talk them back over the rail.....

I would bet 99% of the ones flying off the Golden Gate Bridge were locals?  Or citizens of the US.

In Thailand it is tourists and expats mostly. A huge difference IMO.

You were new in Thailand and still understod spoken Issan thai?
My hat off for such a receptive brain.

I studied about a year before i came to Thailand. I had been there for about a year when this happened.

I understood enough to know what was being said.

Kinda curious about you. You sound like you don't believe this is a serious problem in Thailand?

Do you condone this? Whether you believe me or not i don't really care. But, it sounds like you are trying to say Thailand does not have a serious problem, and you are trying to make it sound like it is not a problem?

    Are you involved in this?

How do you know she was a prostitute and that her mother was her pimp?  All people wear clothes and nail polish is not at all unusual for girls, doesn't make them prostitutes.

"...was asked if I wanted a young girl or boy!  Sickening.

    It is all over Thailand".

It's all over every other country, it's not just Thailand!

    I speak a little Thai

Sitting next to them, I heard the daughter telling the mother about the last guy she got for her.

The daughter was telling her mom all about it, the mom looked hard as a rock.  Also heard her talking about the money of several guys she had been with. Very very strange listening to this..  The young girl was trying to get the approval of the mother IMO, very sad actually.

Thailand is the worst country I have ever visited where it is in your face.

  4. About 15 years ago I was on a bus in Issan. Mom and daughter were decked out. Cloths , nails the works. I was sitting next to them. Her mom was her pimp. At the time I was new to Thailand and could not believe it..

While living in Chiang May, I was in an apartment and was asked if I wanted a young girl or boy!  Sickening.

    It is all over Thailand.

I can confirm the 600 THB monthly payment that my wife's parents get.  They get some help from the family and are quite resourceful.  But it is not fair, they deserve more as hard working honest people.  But what I love about Thailand is that they are happy.  They don't need all of the stuff which other people take for granted.  And I learn from their frugal joyous ways.

It's like this in all third world countries. That is why the family unit is so tight. Born, live together until death basically. If not living together then the family is sending money monthly to support them. Mexico, South America all the same.

It has taught me to be more frugal and appreciate what I have from a rich country and try to not judge others.

As long as there is a risk end in hospital without any symptoms for a lot of money, tourists will not visit Thailand anymore. All my frienfs wantd to travel to Thailand, but with the actuel Test&Go-schema the go to Mexico, Costa Rica, ..... Some of them looking for alternatives also in Asia (i.e Philipines, Viernam), and here is the risk, if they like it, why should they come back to Thailand next year!

Yeah, Thailand is ridiculous. I just returned from 6 months in South America. And a short hop to the Mexican Yucatan. Trouble free and all flights were full.  Before I left I was not sure about going, now I am not sure I want to come back to Thailand. hummm

If not for the many years of living there and friends that I want to see. I honestly don't think I would go back even if the rules were completely done away with.

Actually I have the powers in charge of Thailand to thank for my other travels.

I love the Yucatan, clean air and beautiful beaches and safe as Thailand IMO. Also love Colombia, Although more dangerous. But, reminds me of Thailand many years ago. Pristine forests and absolutely mind blowing scenery.

So with the 90 day reporting can it be done in any city ? I.e what if you moving around Thailand not staying in the same spot ? Also can you do your extension,in any city if moving around.

thought about getting non o-A in Australia and when due for extension after 12months , just getting a non -o based on retirement

It should be, but I had a horrible time with it. I think I got two that way, and only with begging. (and I am not kidding) the last time I had to fly back to Chinag Mai where I got my Extension of stay to get it sorted out. That was 3 years ago.

I used BKK as a hub to fly out of with a retirement visa and it worked Ok. But, still a hassle.

I won't be doing it again.

Yes invited to spend more money on PCR tests and hotels, what alot of nonsense.

And if positive off to quarantine, more expense.

Other countries have a single approach but not here.

You have the CCSA, provincial government, provincial health etc all with differing criteria and processes, Thai bureaucracy at it's best.

    A complete mess.

Luckily there are other places to go. Many countries are cashing in. Thailand has lost it's appeal to me. The horrible pollution, Senseless Thai bureaucracy, Just an endless quagmire of nonsence.

  9. Just came back to the US a few days ago. Was in South America and Mexico for 6 months. There everyone wore masks and hand sanitizer was in every store. Very clean and sanitary.

Today went to Home Depot in San Antonio , no hand sanitizer , about half were not wearing masks. It was a covid outbreak waiting to happen. I felt much safer in South America.

No wonder the idiots here are getting sic.
