I’ve got to get a Covid test before I fly home on the 10th. I’ll be testing myself a few times prior to this and if I show positive, I’ll be cancelling the clinic, changing the flight and self isolating for a week!
Not in Thailand but I am in the same boat. Heading back this month and have to have a negative test 1 day before flight. I bought a ticket to Mexico since my visa expires here in a few days. That way if I test positive I will quarantine in Mexico before heading back home.
Was hoping things would ease up in Thailand so I could go visit but looks like a few more months at best...

TOT need to launch their own National anthem. We can wake up every morning to it blaring out the loud speakers followed by the message of the day.

Think you may find they will resort to it when Omicron fills the hospitals and isolation units in a few weeks
Yes, but then the hotels will start charging hospital prices.

No one is talking about the poor insurance companies.
I think we need to start a "go fund me page" for them..

Wait till they find out you need a Covid test in Chon Buri just to buy a beer or a McDonalds.
It is like that in other countries, went to a park and they wanted to see my passport and copy of vaccination. Went to a sandwich shop and they wanted to see my vaccination card.

Thailand BAD
Colombia GOOD
Thanks for the update.
You want tourists you make it simple, you don't want tourists you make it hard. Not very hard to understand.

Level 3 High
129,000 deaths. Much harder hit than Thailand (29,000) has been even though Thailand has a population about 20 million higher.
A lot of how different countries respond is related to politics and local culture.
Data I just looked at for Dec. 24 showed about the same infection rate as Thailand. Both third world countries and both under tested. So accurate I think. Going up slightly because of the holidays.
And Colombia is wide open and has been for a long time.
People that are dying are unvaccinated people here in Colombia , and in Thailand.
Venezuela refugees are pouring into Colombia and they are not getting vaccinated..
Again, Thailand is just milking the tourists for all it can.

Feer mongering nut jobbers in Thailand. I'm in Colombia. No body cares, open as normal. Cases low. Life as usual.
People do wear masks and wash their hands.

Alot of panic mongers actually seem disappointed at this thing finally fading out. Wait, wait, let's see! No. We don't have to wait. Nearly all nations are seeing declining deaths, except the US, where you have the highest concentration of Vax conspiracy nutters!
Agree, what a bunch of morons. Two friends are not getting vaccinated in the US, conspiracy nuts. Was riding the bus in Bogota and got to talking to a couple here in Colombia .. They told me it was a conspiracy to kill off people because the natural resources were being used up to fast.
Where do they come up with all these crazy ideas?

I get bombarded with Thai Elite adds, all kinds of marketing from TOT.
I guess it is paying dividends.

Ruin all the fun, you could have dragged it out for a few months before telling us he is good.
Party poopers.. ????

IMHO this is kinda ridiculous. I have been double vaccinated and 5 months ago decided to come to Colombia, since Asia is closed. And I got Covid two months ago.. (riding the chicken busses) Way, way, less sick than the flu. Shortness of breath, bad cough. About a week and was feeling good. 6 months is up here in 3 weeks. I am heading to the Caribbean coast in Mexico for a month or so before going home. This part of the world is so clean, hand sanitation in every doorway. I see no problems! It is wide open here and life is normal in every way! If you don't smoke and are healthy, and at least double vaccinated. Get out and enjoy.
I hate to say this but forget SE Asia all together. Just a scam IMO.
I will be coming back to Thailand to get my GF after they open, but no way am I going to stick money in the rich Hi-So's pocket just to come back.. A joke !

And the high end, high quality tourists just can't wait!
They will dupe a few high rollers to come in. But, after touching down it won't take long for a departure ticket to be bought.

Got to give a little to get a little. Take take take and no give is a thing of the past.
Personally I view Thailands government about the same as I view a bar girl. About the same way of thinking.

Might as well learn to love and accept the produce SomChai. You will be assimilated in a few years anyway.

I have lived in that area of Thailand, the Muslim Deep South, for over five years. Besides a few crazy towns the rest of the region is quite normal and boring. Those nightlife enclaves like Betong, S.Kolok, where I do my immigration duties, and Dannok are all dead as a dodo now. Haven't been to Dannok in years myself but the few vlogs I saw about it showed it to be totally abandoned. Happy partying! ????
It's been about 4 years since I was in the area, good info thanks.

I can just see it now, a 70-80 year old walking into immigration with his agent getting the digital nomad visa.

Thai police in massive debt - they owe 270 billion baht

Curious, how much does it cost to buy into a policeman's uniform now??
My GF's cousin or someone in the family bought the position a few years ago and If I remember it was kinda pricy.
Mom, Dad, brothers , sisters and whoever they could borrow from was giving money to get him in.
About 15 years ago my then GF wanted to transfer to a different school. She was a teacher. I can't remember how much it was but she was trying to borrow 50K baht from me for the transfer. She could not raise the money and another friend bought the position.
