  1. I visited the website a previous poster offered as a critique of Columbine and Michael Moore. Loaded with vitriol to say the least. However, I am not in a position to challenge his "facts" offered against Moore and his works, I moved on to his critique of the yet to be madefilem Farenheidt/911.

That critique places the author right where he is, a Moore hater and antagonist. Just read what he says about a movie that he hasn't even seen. His bias is patent without even a shred of objectivity. Many such on the web on any subject.

Any defense of Micheal Moore is very shaky at best. Bowling for Columbine has been thoroughly discredited. You would have to be pretty gullible to expect anything objective and unbiased from F911.

  2. Axel I presume you know where Cannes is, and I'm sure you know how pro-american the french are. :o

Micheal Moore has shown where he stands with "Bowling for Columbine". All I'm saying is F911 should be viewed with a critical eye. I really doubt that is how is was viewed in Cannes. It just supported what they already wanted to believe.

By the way a 25 minute standing ovation is unprecedented and out of proportion. It is an indication of the fanatacism at work over there.

  3. Anyone know if/when it will come up in cinemas here?

My wife just bought that movie he made before F911 about that high school shooting, excellent work. I don't think it will take long to find F.911 in Bangkok..

    Dutchy

I would watch anything by Micheal Moore with considerable reservation.

"Bowling for Columbine" was an intentionaly very deceptive piece of work.

F911, given the 25 minute standing ovation it recieved in Cannes and Micheal Moore's anti-american agenda, should be viewed just as criticaly.

  4. Patong: The Islander is great for brit food, fish&chips, kidney pie, roast beef, good thai food too, good house wine, very good service, Quiet and relaxing location off bangla rd. moderate prices.

6 and DANG (next to each other) on the main street a few doors up from bangla. Both have exellent thai food and nice service. noisy place right on the street is the only drawback. good food and prices make it worth it though.

Karon: Karon cafe terrific steaks nice salad bar decent house wine exellent service. moderate price.

  5. I'm back again and am glad to see that this thread got going again.

I'm looking forward to getting back to patong beach where this question first occured to me.

I find the thai katoy scene to be definately an intriging art form while remembering they're still essentially bar girls in it for the money.

I'd gotten crossways with ######. He took exeption to my questioning of Alfred Kinsey's philosophy in another topic. I never assaulted or abused anyone on this board, while I was privy to a barrage of insults. We all know where he was coming from now. In addition to being what he is ,he is also a liar. You cant have a discusion with a guy like that when he holds the button that make you go away.

"you can fool some of the people some of the time, but you cant fool all the people all the time".

Its all pretty amusing now. :o:D:D

  6. Loosing your passport is such a king sized pain in the hindquarter that carrying it around is not an option for me. I also keep a photo copy of it seperately from where its locked up.( its not unknown for hotel/guesthouses security boxes to be cleaned out)

That said I did have my passport stolen years ago in Spain. Getting a new one from the US embassy took about three days, not really a big deal. Spent the time wandering the Prado. After that though I'd always get a raised eyebrow when officials saw my passport was issued in Madrid.

I keep it simple by just carrying a drivers license, my ATM :D and less than 1500 baht and at least half of my wits. :o

  7. Yohan, I'm an atheist and I don't have the desire to waste my energy helping you.

sorry I'm late but I just had to jump on this one.

msnina: Do you realize atheism represents the highest point of human arrogance.

To openly declare you're an atheist means either you dont really know what it means or that you are incredibly arrogant. Either one precludes sensible discussion. :o

  8. I'd say the thai police werent quite thorough enough. Here's the pragmatic american approach:

General Black Jack Pershing was born September 13th, 1860 near Lanclede, MS, he died July 15th, 1948 in Washington D.C.

    Highlights of his life include:

1891 Prof. of Military Science and Tactics Univer. of Nebraska

1898 Serves in the Spanish-American War

    1901 Awarded rank of Captian

1906 Promoted to rank of Brigadier General

1909 Military Governor of Moro Province, Philippines

    1916 Made Major General

1919 Promoted to General of the Armies

    1921 Appointed Chief of Staff

1924 Retires from active duty Education West Point.

Just before World War 1, there were a number of terrorist attacks on the United States forces in the Philippines by Muslim extremist. So General Pershing captured 50 terrorists and had them tied to posts for execution. He then had his men bring in two pigs and slaughter them in front of the now horrified terrorists. Muslims detest pork because they believe pigs are filthy animals. Some of them simply refuse to eat it, while others won't even touch pigs at all, nor any of their by-products. To them, eating or touching a pig, its meat, its blood, etc., is to be instantly barred from paradise (and those virgins) and doomed to ######. The soldiers then soaked their bullets in the pigs blood, and proceeded to execute 49 terrorists by firing squad. The soldiers then dug a big hole, dumped in the terrorist's bodies and coverd them in pig blood, entrails, etc. They let the 50th man go. And for the next forty-two years, there was not a single Muslim extremist attack anywhere in the world. Maybe it is time for this segment of history to repeat itself, maybe in Iraq? The question is, where do we find another Black Jack Pershing?

  9. Issan girls exude friendliness, charm, humor and warmth not to mention beauty.

What more could one ask for?

yep really not much to complain about there

You really cant fault most of these ladies for trying to make a living. and they bring a little joy into the lives of some jaded foreigners.

It aint no bed of roses petals but what in life is.

Sounds like some of those girls have it better than alot of us.

There are casualities of course but "c'est la guerre", some one has to feed the worms. Buddhists know that well enough. Lets spare Thailand the christian moralizing. :o

  11. Now that we are on this topic, any impressions of the Patong Language School located at 5/19-20, Aroonsom Square

Had Patong Road, Patong, Kathu Phuket 83150

I just spent 3 weeks studying there. Good enough place to start. Depends alot on the teacher you get and how hard you are willing to work. I think I'll try some of the other schools too so I have something to compare It to.

Does anyone know about annies language school?
