Thai PM discusses investment with CEO BlackRock Inc. in New York
khunjake replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Ahh yes, Blackrock. Notorious in the US for buying up entire blocks of new homes and renting them out at above market rates. Adding to the affordability crisis and fully sponsored with the Fed. They make the vampire squid look tepid. -
Extension of stay based on marriage
khunjake replied to Chesterpot's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
If I we’re applying for an extension, i would definitely NOT leave it to the last day. Your just leaving the door open for the IO to ram you for $$$ seeing that you would have to leave the next day provided they decide not to give you a 7-day extension unless you pay up. I would say apply 1 week before your current stay expires to give you some elbow room. -
Any members have some idea where the market is at for wholesale top shelf weed prices? I see on PrikPot about 250b per gram (min 10g) and as low as 120b/g at SiamSeeds (but sold out now) for retail prices. Seems pretty low. Perhaps illegally imported cannabis from US/Canada has killed Thai growers already?

Non - O ME in HCMC and Hanoi: Denied!
khunjake replied to tomaway's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Yes, Savannakhet locally is your best chance of success. I know a few years ago in Penang, they wanted to see 400k held in Thai bank as well for a Non-O ME which I was able to show ahead of making the trip. -
Stampede out of THB?
khunjake replied to khunjake's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Yes, the BOT usually intervenes to contain volatility on daily movements by selling USD from reserves. It does not contain the weekly/monthly downtrend though. Any THB strength will get sold down. -
Stampede out of THB?
khunjake replied to khunjake's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I believe the tax reform news that came out is the main trigger here while the catalyst for a major move lower has been building up for several months now. -
Stampede out of THB?
khunjake replied to khunjake's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Its not hard to figure out where the downfall comes from: - corresponding CNY weakness - strong USD - newly proposed deficit spending by cabinet - funds leaving thai stocks due to oversight issues ie stark - tougher immigration policy, expats repatriating funds held. - tax reform - low interest rates relative to USD/EUR/GBP the list goes on & on, see ya’ll at 38, maybe even 40 -
Seems like this latest tax news alongside doubts with the new cabinet is pushing the Baht past 36.15 at the moment. Wouldn’t be surprised to see 38 by end of year. Surely the new govt wouldn’t mind a weak baht as it would boost exports/tourism and to come in line with neighboring countries which have substantially weaker rates against USD (MYR, IDR).

US Green Card for Thai Spouse
khunjake replied to Pawpal's topic in Visas and migration to other countries
USCIS doesn't give packets upon arrival on the immigrant visa anymore. Its all done electronically now. The USCIS petition is only the first step. Once that is approved, the next step is dealing with State Department NVC. After that step, your wife will be instructed on getting a health exam (must be done in Thailand by embassy approved doctors/hospital) and an interview with the consular officer in the immigrant visa section of the embassy. All must be done in Thailand. -
MPs Urged To Probe Srettha’s 30-Million-Baht Chartered Flight To US
khunjake replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I'm curious to know how THAI airways received permission to fly into the US. I thought they lost their FAA permissions years ago. Maybe its because this will not be a normal commercial flight I guess. -
We use 3 FireTV sticks here and have no issues. Use Surfshark or your preferred VPN to access US/UK, etc. content.

Seems like a major hassle. If one has the means and likes to take a short break out of the country, just get a Non-O ME visa and you can just forget even dealing with these people. We had good, professional experience in Hua Hin but upcountry they were truly nasty and simply horrible to deal with. No way would I pay a single baht to any of them!

Khon Kaen marriage extension
khunjake replied to JCD's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
All the reasons above are exactly why I don’t do non-o marriage extensions any more. Too many hassles with irate officers that just want to make unnecessary problems for a handout. Already got my next trip booked and looking forward to it. In and out with ease on a non-o ME visa. Never any hassles, dirty looks or raising of voices to show how much power these a-holes think they have. -
“86% of Thai police stations failed transparency test”
khunjake replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Driving back from Rayong to upcountry., we passed through 4 checkpoints. With 2 cameras highly visible on the dash and sunvisor along with 2567 road tax and insurance stickers, we didn’t get stopped but surely the BIB are hurting for cash.. -
I’m sure an “agent” will not be able to offer any services that would influence the embassy’s decision on an application. For sure not any western country has such services unlike countries where officials can be easily be bought (eh hmm.) Such agent can only assist in helping you guys to prepare and submit the application.

Savannakhet non o requirement
khunjake replied to Lolothai's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Do the eVisa. It will save you hassles when your arrive especially if there’s a queue. Dont forget 100 baht cash for each person entering (inc. thai) that goes to the admitting IO at Laos checkpoint. Its not marked anywhere so be aware they will expect ie demand a “tip”. Both ways they want it. Scum… -
All the posts here on latest non-o extensions with random follow up visits are very disturbing. Its like the cops own your ass for Christ sake. Exactly another reason why I am way more content to deal with an embassy/consulate instead and just do the Non-O ME route. Too many unknowns dealing with these clowns in-country nowadays.

For my next 90-day run, I’ll be trying out the Fukuoka flight out of DMK and chillin’ out in Nippon for a few days. Sure beats a trip out to the gulag for that 90-day “report”. Yep, taking my tourist money elsewhere since our rogue office beats the living crap put of us for a legitimate TM-30 report.

How to store ‘sticky weed’ in Thailand?
khunjake replied to truthfix's topic in Thailand Cannabis Forum
Grove Bags. Keeps a constant RH of 58-62%. You can vacuum seal the bags for long term store as well. Keep your bags in a cool environment.
