  1. Yes sir, I figured that one out after we were thrashed by and upcountry office for abiding by the law and filing TM30. Will never pay a single baht to these guys for any extensions. Dealing with Thai consulate/embassy is much easier.
  2. Heads up on using DeeMoney, did a transfer request and they sent me an email asking me to provide my bank statement for the last 3 months and it must show the latest transfer amount as well. Not too happy as this has delayed the transfer now. Be advised I have heard of others having these same issues recently.
  3. After renting several condos all over the Kingdom the last 15 years, no way would I ever purchase one. After being able to hear the tenant next to me rip farts all night, we build our own house on our own land well far from any further farters.
  4. USD/THB breached last weeks low this morning. 36.36 currently. Probably based more on USD strategy vs. domestic news but still getting weaker.
  5. It will never happen. Thai falls under the same category as Cambodia, Myanmar & Laos which means risk of overstay or immigration violation is simply to great.
  6. Flew almost exclusively with EVA the last 15 years. They were usually great to deal with but post-covid they seem hell bent in grabbing as much as possible from their customers now. Change fees have gone through the roof and seat selection fees which didn’t used to exist before. We have been flying Starlux lately and have quite been impressed.
  7. Jesus.. 27 years of doing this! Crazy. We have our next trip planned already for my 90-day Non-O ME run and all that baht to be spent overseas (japan this time). If the IO policies here weren’t so ludicrous, perhaps we would have taken a trip within the country supporting local business instead. Oh well, guess the masses of expected Chinese will make up for it! ????
  8. This looks all very Soviet-era KGBish behavior. I’ll likely stay on Non-O ME visas unless this BS goes away which may never be the case.
  9. As a fully licensed entity, thankfully we never built out the operation as we saw prices tanking several months ago. Should they be serious about curtailing the market for medicinal only and should illegal imports stop, maybe then prices can rise. Govt doesnt support thai cannabis farmers and thats a problem. At current levels, we have ZERO plans to make any further investments. Again, thankfully we cut loose with only a small amount of capital and have a decent indoor operation at the moment which after 1 nice grow, remains offline (for now).
  10. To me, top-shelf/high-grade/premium = great bag appeal, strong, good smelling aroma, trichs all over, high THC, low CBD and of course, a nice nug, no popcorn or larf.
  11. I would say its too late. That boat has already sailed years ago. Vietnam and Indonesia have beat Thailand to the punch years ago. FDI has exploded in those countries while in Thai, its dropped dramatically. The final straw forJapanese companies in particular has been too strong THB compared to other ASEAN countries along with ridiculous immigration reporting requirements.
  12. Flew them once many years ago. HKT->DMK. Could not believe the state of the 737 they used. Thought it would fall out of the sky but miraculously we made it just fine. Never flew them again after that. Usually always AirAsia or gulp TG for domestic.
  13. Gold is a terrible investment. Globally priced in USD, Its at the same price it was 12 years ago compared to the S&P 500 up 330%. Go gold! ????
  14. You mean the flag-waving guy with a mini bullhorn yappin’ in Chinese to their tour group isn’t a Thai? ????
  15. Ahh yes, Blackrock. Notorious in the US for buying up entire blocks of new homes and renting them out at above market rates. Adding to the affordability crisis and fully sponsored with the Fed. They make the vampire squid look tepid.
  16. If I we’re applying for an extension, i would definitely NOT leave it to the last day. Your just leaving the door open for the IO to ram you for $$$ seeing that you would have to leave the next day provided they decide not to give you a 7-day extension unless you pay up. I would say apply 1 week before your current stay expires to give you some elbow room.
  17. Any members have some idea where the market is at for wholesale top shelf weed prices? I see on PrikPot about 250b per gram (min 10g) and as low as 120b/g at SiamSeeds (but sold out now) for retail prices. Seems pretty low. Perhaps illegally imported cannabis from US/Canada has killed Thai growers already?
  18. Yes, Savannakhet locally is your best chance of success. I know a few years ago in Penang, they wanted to see 400k held in Thai bank as well for a Non-O ME which I was able to show ahead of making the trip.
  19. Yes, the BOT usually intervenes to contain volatility on daily movements by selling USD from reserves. It does not contain the weekly/monthly downtrend though. Any THB strength will get sold down.
  20. I believe the tax reform news that came out is the main trigger here while the catalyst for a major move lower has been building up for several months now.
  21. Its not hard to figure out where the downfall comes from: - corresponding CNY weakness - strong USD - newly proposed deficit spending by cabinet - funds leaving thai stocks due to oversight issues ie stark - tougher immigration policy, expats repatriating funds held. - tax reform - low interest rates relative to USD/EUR/GBP the list goes on & on, see ya’ll at 38, maybe even 40
  22. Seems like this latest tax news alongside doubts with the new cabinet is pushing the Baht past 36.15 at the moment. Wouldn’t be surprised to see 38 by end of year. Surely the new govt wouldn’t mind a weak baht as it would boost exports/tourism and to come in line with neighboring countries which have substantially weaker rates against USD (MYR, IDR).
  23. USCIS doesn't give packets upon arrival on the immigrant visa anymore. Its all done electronically now. The USCIS petition is only the first step. Once that is approved, the next step is dealing with State Department NVC. After that step, your wife will be instructed on getting a health exam (must be done in Thailand by embassy approved doctors/hospital) and an interview with the consular officer in the immigrant visa section of the embassy. All must be done in Thailand.
