  1. Thailand Pass was cancelled for Thai's June 1, OP now states Thailand Pass is cancelled 1 July. But please feel free to get covid insurance and apply for a Thai Pass if that's what you think lol
  2. Drop the ridiculous mask mandate and I'll be back for 4 months....until then not interested in Thailand visits
  3. Yes, covid insurance is no more Bangkok, 17 June, 2022 – Thailand’s Centre of COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) today approved the removal of the Thailand Pass registration scheme and an US$10,000 health insurance requirement for foreign visitors, effective 1 July, 2022. https://www.tatnews.org/
  4. So far this month they've legalized bars and clubs to re-open, those same bars and clubs to open until 2am instead of 12pm and now hotels to serve booze between 2-5pm All of these things were already happening prior to any announcement. Net effect on Thailand tourism zero
  5. In fairness to Hooters, when they wouldn't serve me a beer until 5pm it was in mid Januray and bars had just opened from covid lockdown. It was enough to put me off so I never went back but they may have changed policy since (don't want a defamation suit lol)
  6. I wore the mask diligently for four months throughout the hot and humid Mar-May. It even got to the stage I would give the evil stare to falang who either wore it under their nose, over their chin or on their sweaty elbow... 5 weeks back in the freedom of Aussie I've vowed never to be made to wear a mask outside again...pretty simple
  7. Was this ever a thing? I just spent 4 months in Pattaya and only 7-11 restricted alcohol sales between 2-5pm, everything else was no problem Edit: oh wait, Hooters went all in. I turned up at 1 pm for lunch and they told me to come back at 5 if I wanted a beer (so they didn't bother with the 11-2pm)
  8. As the linked article also says temp sensors no longer required, Thailand should be back to 'normal' fom 1 July... ...well except the mask rule is still up in the air. So close but no cigar ????
  9. That fine is constantly quoted as up to 20,000 baht for not wearing a mask
  10. "However, an exact date for easing of the mask mandate has NOT been announced and is NOT set in stone as July 1st, notes the CCSA" Ok, that's me still out then
  11. The big meeting happen yet? Hoping to see no masks, no Thai Pass, no covid insurance, bars/clubs open until 2am Then I can book my flight
  12. The 100 point test is required which can be passport (50) and birth certificate (50). Most people do drivers licence (60) and Medicare card (40) which you said you don't have. I just opened a term deposit online with ING which gives me 2.75% on maturity after 12 months (6 months is 1.9%). Westpac gives 2.25% and Great Southern gives 2.1% Most other banks are giving peanuts (i don't look at judo and rabobank, might be good but never heard of them)
  13. The old thread from @DrJack54 was useful, 'Seven Seas Worldwide' looks very good for Oz to Bkk shipping (googled and still current) What I really like is you get your own 'MoveCube' for your stuff (small, medium or large). This is small that suits me
  14. Why every day there is a new story/proposal as to when Thailand may remove masks. Just do it already like the rest of the World did ages ago It's like they're making a decision about 'assisted dying' rather than just allowing people outside in fresh air to go maskless
  15. Two stories I have of the wonderful temp sensors. (1) A Thai guy walked into 7/11, sensor went off as over temp, he just walked in anyway and staff did nothing (2) a bar customer tested at 32.6c, bar staff asked if he was dead as she then put her hand up and was 35.8
  16. I'm definitely a tourist as I don't live there, dont pay tax there, don't even own a vehicle there. Why can't I be a tourist 75 days at a time like they propose
  17. At least that'll be one less thing keeping covid fear in the minds of people...get back to 'normal'
  18. ^forget my post above, 95% of this thread is already about growing anyway lol The only places I see mentioned to buy are Candyland on soi bukhao and one post mentioned Kiwi Bar and Southern Coffee in Jomtien. Is that it, no where else to openly buy in Pattaya? Note: is Kiwi Bar the Kiwi and Wombat Bar on soi 9?
