Proposal to waive visa fees for foreign tourists to Thailand
aussiexpat replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
OP is missing the main part of the linked article which says this only applies to the visa on arrival Also missing this point which is fantastic if approved "TAT will also request the period of stay for tourist visas be extended from 30 days to 45 days..." -

To get a 60 day Thai Tourist visa in Aussie you need to prove finance and have accommodation booked for the whole time Easier to get visa exempt + 30 day extension once there -

That'd bring me back if visa exempt for 90 days. No need for TM30 or lining up with all the covid exemption people to get a 30 day extension -

Retirement visa for New Zealander
aussiexpat replied to Bill Kiwi 68's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I have CBUS as well as shares, gold and property rental. This argument of "can get better" only applies if the 800k baht is all you have Parking 800k baht at 1% interest to get a retirement visa is hardly wealth threatening Better than giving away 40k baht for something you can easily do yourself -

40k agent fee on 800k baht is 5%, hard to earn. I'm happy to get the 1% Krungsi pay me for the 800k while my other investments earn my income (until recently bank accounts in Aussie were only giving 0.3-0.4%) -
I use DTAC but always start with "I don't want tourist sim" Last Sim was 395 baht per month for unlimited internet at 20mbps. 250 minutes free calls

Retirement visa for New Zealander

This is what I dont understand, people are apparently too poor to put 800k baht in a bank account but are happy to pay 30-40k baht to do something they could easily do themselves for free I'd rather spend the 30-40k baht on me (or my latest gf) -

How is anyone retired without 800,000 baht to meet legal requirements. Maybe keep working? -
US$80,000/year, but no less than USD$40,000/year in the past two years or before retirement, applicants must have a Master's degree or above in science and technology, or special expertise relevant to the job assignment in Thailand. Wahoo, lucky I have a Masters of Engineering, not going back to work though ????

I used Magna Carta for my condo purchase and my Will. They were excellent both times -
Personally I've always felt the 3 steak houses off soi Dianna to be too expensive. Not that they are, just so much different to Thai prices I come to thailand 2 months at a time, to spend those prices makes me think I might as well do that in Aus

It doesn't matter if Hotels don't follow his idiotic comments, damage is done as it's now in the World press that Thailand is racist
