Returning Aussie Visa requirements
aussiexpat replied to aussiexpat's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Looking forward to the O visa, as far as I can tell this is the process: (1) arrive on visa exempt- 30 days (2) extend visa exempt - 30 days - 1900 baht (3) apply for non-imm O visa - 90 days - 2000 baht (4) deposit 800k in bank for minimum 60 days (5) apply for extension based on retirement- 1900 baht - 12 months So all up I get 17 months for 5,800 baht. Much cheaper than the O-A -
Just to add to the confusion, Singapore Airlines says the following which seems to make the 48 hours redundant. Travellers entering or transiting through Singapore, including Singapore citizens and permanent residents, are required to take a pre-departure Covid-19 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test within 48 hours before the scheduled departure date of their flight i.e. passengers departing on 3 September can take the test any time from 1 September onwards. https://www.singaporeair.com/en_UK/us/travel-info/covid-19/ Due to all this confusion I just called my clinic here which specializes in pre-flight PCR tests. My flight leaves on a Friday at 1445 and as it transits through Singapore I need test within 48 hours. She said to be safe just book test at 4pm on the Wednesday (result back on Thursday)

I was looking at the same time, but now that I got my exemption I'm thinking why not just book my flight and 7 nights ASQ and go next week lol -

You mention non-O is initially 90 days. Is it then extended for a year (based on retirement/marriage) So you actually get 15 months? Also, I was told that if you leave and come back just before the 12 month expiry you automatically get another 12 months on entry. Is this correct? Thanks in advance -

Here's the timings I've discovered so far: (1) Exemption - they say to apply between 2 weeks and 2 months before departure (48 hours to assess) - valid 3 months (2) Tourist Visa - 5 business days + 2 days postage there and back - valid 3 months (3) Covid Insurance - apply anytime before COE as insurance only commences on arrival in Thailand (4) COE - they say to apply within 30 days of departure - 3 business days for initial register- maximum 15 days to upload pre-paid Hotel and flights - 3 business days to issue (5) PCR Test - test within 72 hours of departure normally. For Singapore transit it's within 48 hours of departure -

Training for my ASQ by staying in bed all day binging netflix while I wait for a response to my exemption. Bloody thing hasn't changed from status 'received' since noon yesterday ???? I don't think I'm going to like jumping through all these hoops lol -
When can I extend my visa?
aussiexpat replied to noodleslayer's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I've extended my exemption in the last week of the 30 days as that was what was said on here. However, the last time I visited I extended it at the same time I did the TM30 (arrived Friday and did TM 30 and extension on Monday). -

Reading the Qantas press they are only opening up to 'COVID-safe' countries of which Thailand is not one of them (UK, USA, Singapore, Japan, Canada, New Zealand and Fiji). So we'll likely need a travel exemption well into next year ???? https://amp.abc.net.au/article/100498078 -

I almost got caught out on my Singapore flight. While the Thai COE requires PCR test result within 72 hours of departure, to be able to transit through Singapore a PCR test result is required within 48 hours of departure. https://www.singaporeair.com/en_UK/sg/travel-info/transit-through-singapore/ -
Brave man waiting until you get to the airport to do the test. I couldn't handle that stress so I'm doing it 3 days before. Not sure where the OP is but Australia has dedicated clinics for the pre-flight PCR test ($150 for guaranteed 24 hour result, $300 for same day result) https://consumer.healius.com.au/?gclid=CjwKCAiAtej9BRAvEiwA0UAWXrpi3gmWiQHCmRGoipTR5ypkYgE8E6knLhQ17dLAgCFGq1vzEac8ZxoCoukQAvD_BwE

There are now 36 hotels in Bangkok offering 7 day quarantine packages starting at 16,000 baht. I'm waiting for the Landmark to do 7 days (14 days is 55,000) https://asq.in.th/?durationSelectedItem=7+Day -

And Exemption is submitted ???? Basically said I have condo to maintain and to hopefully stop them worrying about my return I said I have a home that I can stay indefinitely, have medical insurance and adequate finance for any emergency, said I will be away for a minimum of 12 months and that I have no compelling reason to return to Australia in the near term. -

Nah, $674 on Singapore Airlines. There's enough additional expense with covid tests, Covid insurance and 7 days quarantine hotel -

The COE is the same site all over the World. While the various Embassy wording hasn't changed, the COE has https://coethailand.mfa.go.th/regis/step?language=en -

COE has officially changed to have ASQ for 10 days for unvaccinated and 7 days for vaccinated. Yesterday it said a minimum of 14 days ASQ, now it says this ????
