There is a topic about this scam on a Thai webboard. Don't dare post the link cos it will likely get zapped.

Basically, this scam will only work when a victim has a bank account with ATM card. If the victim gives the scammer a bank account number which doesn't have ATM card, they will ask for another account which has one.

Scammers will tell the victim to go to an ATM at exact time to check if the money has already been deposited and they will phone to check while victim is at the ATM. Of course, there won't be any money. The scammers will then guide the victim step-by-step, pretending to be helpful. But in fact, they guide the victim to go into English menu and trick them into transferring money into scammer's account.

I would like to hear Nok Airs view on this and I may drop them an email but I don't hold out much hope they would reply.

Then, contact them via "Contact Us". If you don't ask, you will definitely never get a reply.

My experiences with their Customer Service have been good.

It's hard to imagine a better casual atmosphere bartender in Thailand than Khun Tan, that guy would rate well anywhere in the world. I've always liked the rest of the staff quite well too, though, and I wasn't around when it was Delaney's, but absence does make the heart grow fonder. It'll be good to have him back in the neighborhood.

I, too, missed the Delaney's era. But agree with you there that Tan is amazing. Most of the staff were pretty good also, although there were a couple unpleasant incidents happened to my friends. But that's normal.

Nguu, at Grand Jomtien Palace, I wasn't present when my European boy checked in and he didn't mention me to the staff whatsoever. Still never had a problem/attitude from the staff when I turned up. No surcharge.

I stayed at Welcome Jomtien Beach Hotel some years ago. If I remember correctly, all their rooms have balcony and sea view. I got them, at least. The hotel is a little bit down the soi from main road. But not too far.

More recent than that, I stayed at Grand Jomtien Palace early this year. I don't remember which floor I was on, at least 9th. The hotel is on the main road. My room was facing the ocean. And got balcony also. Breakfast was quite the same situation as toptuan's post.

Between these two, I would say Grand Jomtien Palace.

I can see a little bit why she is upset. Like a few posters said above, she sees it as you don't trust her. Either that, or she's in it for the money. Many Thai girls who don't have a lot of experience/knowledge about the West will probably feel insulted at first. But they should be willing to see things from your point of view.

As for myself, I will definitely sign a pre-nuptial agreement. When I was planning to marry a certain someone, I did bring the subject up and told him I would sign it for him (he had a lot more to lose than I). He said he trusted me and that he wouldn't want one. I told him I wanted to be with him for who he was, and this was one way to show him. I personally see it as showing him I am not in it for the money, and making him feel secure. Lord knows what future holds. People divorce every day.

And having a pre-nuptial agreement doesn't mean you'll have to use it. So, what's the problem?
