  1. I walked up to the counter at Thai Airways at Suvanabhum one morning last month, and quickly got a ticket to Chiang Mai for 1,750 baht, leaving three hours later. Nok and Air Asia might be even cheaper.

Yeah, they are doing a promotion, "Explore Thailand Fares", from 11-Jun until 30-Sep.

  2. ONCE AGAIN THIS IS NOT ABOUT GAYS... IT IS ABOUT SLEAZY KATOYS TRYING TO TRICK FARANGS NOTHING MORE. THIS IS NO DIFFERENT THAN SOME SLEAZY OLD SOD TRICKING UNDERAGE GIRLS.

I AM SURE RESPECTABLE GAYS ARE WELCOME

Sleazy katoeys trying to trick farangs?

I watched the interview last weekend, and he was very well presented, and polite. And the VIP guest mentioned in the news that he was with that night was an American man.

    Sleazy my arse. :o

  3. Maybe Thai people respect threats that they feel you can back up, or that they feel are worthy.

Please take it from a Thai, no, we do NOT respect threats. For one who didn't have better connection than your boyfriend does, they feared and if they were mad or humiliated enough, they would probably rectify the problem later. Like pumpuiman's post below...

Your neighbors don't respect you, they fear you. It's not some imaginary cultural difference here.

You better hope your husband doesn't walk alone in any alleys....the opportunity to kill this chest thumping disrespectful gorilla will be very tempting to all the people he has offended. They will relish kicking him when he's down.

Some of the Thais must have better connection than he does. You don't want to <deleted> with the wrong people.

  4. I'm not saying that Thais go around murdering each other, but they do manage to murder over 5000 people a year.(http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/cri_mur-crime-murders) Not a bad effort for 60 mill people.

My comment wasn't aiming at you. :D But my point is, as a Thai who has been living here for 33 years, with all the people I know including my big family, etc - and I'm sure I know quite a few Thais - there was ONE murder. My uncle's ex-wife managed to have the new wife (pregnant) shot. I'm not saying that Thailand is a great country with no flaws. <deleted> to that. But it's not as bad as some posters here are trying to make it out to be.

Now if you could get accurate figures for Pattaya, I would say that it would be up there (per capita) with Joberg and Rio.

Granted Pattaya is a special place :o in its own way. Prostitution, greed, jealousy, lonely old men with more money than sense, etc. Not a good combination for my liking. :D

  5. Yeah, it would appear a lot of people here are forgetting that there are more than just farangs on this forum, and forgetting as well that many of those farangs are happily married to Thai women.

Exactly. There are good and bad everywhere. From several comments on this thread, a newbie would think, oh gee.... they go round killing each other at the drop of a hat in Thailand, even though they know they will get caught but they still do it!!!

Absolute <deleted>. The vast majority of Thais do not resort to murder when something goes sour. It seems some people should really choose who they associate with more wisely. :D

My condolences to the deceased's family and friends. RIP.

(even if I have kinda forgotten about the whole "being faithful" thing more often than not) :o

(That's what ducks are for) :D
