  1. Keep calm and carry on. Lol. Name one person who has lost his property or has had his nominee arrangement voided simply because he owned his property via a nominee company. Anyone, anywhere in Thailand, say for the last 50years?

Loopholes are legal until the government enacts legislation to close the loophole. How close did they come to passing such legislation in the last 50 years?

  2. Yesterday is History, Today is the present, Tomorrow is a mystery.

I think I read that on here. Works for me.......................wink.png

    Today is tomorrow''s yesterday.

A variation of the same theme: Today's dinner is tomorrow's <deleted>?

  3. Lol, they will have to demolish the new centara modus, because before it was built the was a public access lane in that spot. It was conveniently blocked off before finally sold off with the two private properties alongside that lane.

As if they would dare take on owners of Centara!
  4. All at the same time they are cracking down on farang in the country, but can't get enough of the ASEAN citizens who bring in zero money to Thailand and if anything send it out of the country.

Whatever happened to immigration rules that you can not do any work that a Thai can do?... Oh I forgot, that is for westerners only.

Our eyes are the wrong shape.

Myth 1: they are cracking down on farang. They are actually cracking down on koreans too.

Myth 2: Asean citizens bring in zero money. Only a westerner with inferiority complex would tar all of Asean with one sweeping stereotype. Oh dear.

Myth 3: your eyes are the wrong shape. It is not the eyes that matter but what skills you bring. The are many CEOs, GMs from East and West here.

In any case, surely you do not covet the manual jobs of these poor Asean unskilled laborers, which is the focus of the article?

  5. This is how I deal with it: air con, air con and more air con. Typical day: wake up in a/c bedroom, spend time in a/c living areas, go out in a/c car to wherever that has a/c. Back to a/c house via a/c car.

When I die from the shock of the electricity bill, I will probably end up chilled in an a/c morgue.

  6. Update: the usb suggestion did not work for me, so I had to research some more. Finally stumbled on something called ms exchange services. In my case, I deleted that (nothing to lose, already factory reset umpteen times to no avail in resolving my problem) and all has been well. I am fortunate I guess...I managed to solve my problem no thanks to Samsung. I am no I.t. expert and I suggest you check if deleting ms exchange is appropriate for you situation. I googled my problem and this was one of the suggestions and it worked for me! No more battery drain nor overheating.

  7. Where's lomatopo? He solved my last problem...

My SGII is now chewing though its battery, and down to 30% by lunch. Betterbatterystats was indicating 2-3% per hour before the update, but now I'm figuring 8-12% per hour.

Since my factory reset and reloading my apps from the Store, Betterbatterystats won't even work. It's indicating the unit is plugged in even when it's showing 30% battery charge remaining. I uninstalled and reinstalled the program, and still get no luv.

I did the factory reset deal, took out the battery and reinstalled, etc. I cleaned the lint from the micro-usb socket (not much at all and not moist or green, either), and generally did everything I can think of without having any indication of what's chewing on the battery.

I'm not really wanting to trade up from a phone that I like and mostly works fine, especially since I'm reading horror stories about the same (or worse) battery problems on the SG3 and SG4.

What other avenues should I try? Is this possibly a problem with battery calibration instead of battery drain?

Or is this God's way of telling me to buy that Sony Experia Z that's waterproof and shockproof?

Edit: I don't use Google Now, or at least I did my best to disable it. And it's not on my list of running Apps, unless it's disguised as something else. I also disabled location services and GPS, but I have to keep wifi running for business reasons.

Sorry guys, I know this is an old thread, but Mr Impulse, did you find a solution? I have the same problem after the JB update. Did factory reset, even bought new battery, disabled google now (and etc etc etc as suggested by the 5 million pages on the internet devoted to this issue) but the problem persists.

Is anyone else experiencing the same problem? Samsung told me I was the only one who has this problem (I resisted reaching across the counter to strangle the "service" staff). They reinstalled JB, did the factory reset, made me buy a new battery...but finally, they said I had better to buy the s3 (one could only smile politely whilst thinking what a waste of space the "service center" is).

Oh, I have also done the full charge and discharge cycles over 5 times now, and that did not fix the problem!

Strangely enough, there are also other s2 sets (owned by friends here and overseas) which behave properly, so it seems to affect some s2 sets only.

Is it showing that it's plugged in and charging when it's not plugged in? My, now retured S2 did that and the battery would drain real quick (didn't happen right after the update though), I figured the USB port was dirty (from the sweat, which has salt in it, which is bad for electronics). Took the phone apart and removed the PCB to which the USB port was attached, soaked it in a fresh water, used toothbrush and other tiny gadgets to clean inside the port the best I could, wiped it dry and then let it dry completely before assembling the phone back. Problem was gone and never reappeared while I owned it, since then I sold it my my wife's cousin who's still using it to this day successfully with no issues.

N, it is NOT showing that it's plugged in when it is not plugged in. Everything is fine until I enable wifi or mobile data, then the heating and battery drain occurs. However I wil try the USB suggestion, because Impulse also suggested similar in a PM to me. Give me a few days to report back!

    Thanks guys!

  9. If you see a traffic accident in Thailand, you get away as fast as you can, or you could end up being blamed, the first thing Thais will do is try and find a way of getting money from you. This is not Thai bashing. It is fact.

after reading this, I am more inclined to just let a farang lie bleeding by the roadside. He is probably drunk and thus injuries are self inflicted. gee, it is so easy to generalise and be offensive.

  10. The law states 7.00 - 5.00 in residential areas

What exactly is a residential area, especially where there is almost no zoning laws in Pattaya?

In another thread, someone was complaining about some Russian owned night market on phratumnak hill which is mainly residential except for the hotels, shops, bars, golf course, restaurants, massage shops thrown in to the mix.

  11. Although I am not a golfer, I did invite a mate who is a mad keen golfer to come for a golfing weekend. This was due to me believing the hype about golf holidays here in Pattaya, about how fabulous they are etc etc. my mate is based in Singapore, has been there for 5 years now. He said Thailand is not the golfing destination it once was...apparently, they to go Indonesia and Malaysia these days. He said Thailand golf reputation is terrible with untrained caddies, bad management at courses, lack of English and getting expensive on top of all of that.

I wonder TAT is aware of the developing bad reputation in the region.

  12. On a recent day trip to pattaya with the missus, I was disappointed with the filthy beach more than the amount of sexpats.

your observations are sadly true. Pattaya is often described as a seedy beach resort. Take away the beach, and all that's left is seedy.

Give the beach some tlc, and it really can be a wonderful resort for all, not just the seedy types.
