If i remember correctly, American voters nearly inflicted onto the rest of the world a senior follower of this "cult" by almost electing him to one of the world's most powerful positions.
Scary thought for the rest of the world.

It is often said expats don't get to vote in Thailand. Well, vote with your $€£¥ and don't patronise the place of you feel it is not value for your money. Ditto any other businesses that do not meet your own value for money benchmark.
Simple.

The extra Lane is for water pumps.

Now I know the reason for building one extra Lane of road on what ought to be pattaya' s prime natural asset...To accommodate those ugly pumps because apparently no engineer can work out how to get rain water into the sea, a mere meter or two away.

Kick out of our planet the USA and we will have again a future without to much wars!
Let's again fight the neighbor-countries in all the world there "games" without USA and other international powers.
This would be again how it declars i.e. the old testament: Eye for Eye - Tooth for Tooth ! This is the nature as created and existing since the beginning of our world!
So every part of the world clear so there problems locally. The Arabs - the Africans - the Asians - the European - the American Once.
The catholic missionaires startet the Globalisation!!!!!! Think about!
Do you know how many wars had been fought before the discovery of the usa? Lol.
I doubt you will get world peace after you "kick out of our planet the usa".

I do not judge what meat people choose to eat. The issue is of cruelty. ... if they can slaughter dogs humanely then nobody should condemn another person's right to eat just another source of protein.
Then nobody should blame a lion who kills a human, or a human killing another human, as long the killing is humanly done its o.k. right?
Just another source of protein as you claim. A very cold person so seem be.
Oh dear I shall engage since I am waiting for my meat dinner. If in your fantasy narnia type world, a wild lion is able to kill humanely then philosophically I have no issue with the lion getting its human protein. But we live in the real world where wild animals kill savagely for food and that is natural, so I am ok with that.
Taking of another human's life is already ok by some cultures. Hence we have capital punishment, euthanasia and arguably, abortion. I am pro voluntary euthanasia so if I am a cold person, so be it. Any more personal insults?

There have been too many bars for the amount of available customers for at least 20 years. The atmosphere has turned a bit stale. Still good fun but it's not buzzing, and girls in the bars are notable getting agitated at lack of costumers and the ones that still go out are locals who won't buy them drinks.
Why the eff should I buy them drinks?
They are there to serve me, lack of customers, more like way toooooo many bars chasing the same $$$$.
Pattaya could get rid of 50% of its bars and no one would even know they were gone.
Thai business model, copy next doors model.
If you go behind the Made in Thailand shops, there are the derelict remains of a bar area that failed as soon as it opened, many years ago, because it never had enough customers.
Ditto 7-11s, family marts, massage parlors, laundries, Internet shops, travel agents, money changers, hairdressers, pharmacies... Did I miss anything?

I have to disagree. Animals noted for their intelligence and loyalty to man are in a different category to sheep, cows etc. Whales, elephants, dolphins and dogs are four such creatures. Besides, dogs are invariably cruelly killed and transported. Sheep and cattle transported to Islamic country are also often not slaughtered in a compassionate manner. In any case, this has been discussed in another thread, and I don't think I could subject myself to the callous opinions of the same bunch of dog slaughter lovers that advocated the killing of every soi dog in Thailand or lectured the rest of us about respecting the eating habits of other cultures. Goodbye and good luck to the dog lovers among you.I do not judge what meat people choose to eat. The issue is of cruelty. ... if they can slaughter dogs humanely then nobody should condemn another person's right to eat just another source of protein.
R u sure that a dog is more intelligent than say a pig? You better Google that one.

When the useless people who are responsible for the failures are allowed to continue in their jobs, be it officials, engineers, maintenance contractors etc, the failures will continue every year.
You have described one of the major flaws of the system here. How many wrongdoers have been transferred to "inactive" posts only to be resuscitated later. I despair for this country because this flaw goes to the highest offices in the land. What meritocracy?
As a foreigner, I just decide if I can live with the failures which are very preventable. And when I can't live with these failures, I shall move on. For now I am just happy to accept these inconveniences from time to time.

Wow that was a great storm!!!! Lightning and thunder like the end of the world and it was really dark at 2.45pm. The rain was so heavy that I could no longer see nearby buildings. Hope everyone was safe and dry. Seems to have passed now.

Malaysia's silly version of fundamentalism is the result of manipulation by the ruling party. They love to play the race/religion card to keep their Muslim supporters happy. Some morons there want to be more islamic than their Arab brothers but luckily there is still a large moderate muslim group who are keen to protect a secular constitution. ... rather like Turkey.

Wonder no more... It was never about getting rid of corruption, that was only the PR bull dust. The real agenda is to ensure the corruption is "reformed" so that the money goes to "my" mates instead of "yours"!!!And this idiot government wonders why we don't believe their Koh Tao story.
And we wonder why some people think that this government is inherently less corrupt than any other
To believe the bull dust about getting rid of corruption, you need to have gone through the Thai system of so-called "education". So that you may believe that those who are in power are there to help you be happy in your grinding poverty.
OK, off with my cynical hat. Thinking happy thoughts now about how the coup has made me happier

Lol, I hope all potential investors thinking of buying into those awful new developments that have ruined Wongamat take note.
Wongamat beach = disgusting sewage water = go and negotiate a price reduction from your crooked developer now

Oh we all know this trick. It's called "Seen to be Doing Something" as opposed do actually doing something effective.
It's the beginnings of the old Irish-type jokes: How many meetings does it take for a Thai policeman to catch a ladyboy bag snatcher? Best funny answer gets a prize:p

Oh, we call it the noveau riche design. Also known for its distinctly Europe meets Pattaya fusion style.

Yeah, right. Without the superior yet ever suffering martyred farang, the natives would still be living in caves. Oh, dear St. Farang do get off the cross, the natives need the firewood to cook and keep warm.If it wasnt for the farangs,i reckon there would be no-one in issan, they would all be begging on the streets of bangkok
Oh dear, your Thainess is showing... 9 billion baht a year buys a lot of firewood, no?
Thanks for the compliment but i am not Thai. Yes, 9bil Bahts is a lot but I think Isaan will survive with or without it. Certainly, they won't all go to bkk to be beggars. Gee, is it not a tad arrogant (and offensive) to claim an entire people would end up as beggars without the farangs' cash.

I spent many years working in Sales and Marketing. Thais do not understand how to attract Westerners to Thai things in general. They think with a Thai mindset, not with a Western one. So the things they stress are things Westerners are just not interested in nor attracted to. And Thais are seriously NOT interested in any advice from foreigners. A cache 22 for sure.
Catch 22, perhaps?
Anyway, many Thais appear to understand this much: sex sells.
At the end of the day, why should they think with a western mindset. They should think like Thais and be accountable to Thais, and if the tourists come for that, that's all well and good. If not, then c'est la vie. This is not Disneyland.

Pattaya has been cutting its' own throat.
Pattaya needs to understand Westerners spending their money will not be taken for monkeys.
Prices up, crime up, traffic congestion up, infrastructure down.
Pattaya can carry on this way and will see seasonal tourists drop and drop and drop.
Chinese and Indian tourists put little into the economy.
Laughable really !!
Lol, are you sure there are no western monkeys in Pattaya?

It's in the same section of the Bible that insists church bells are rung on sundays/special occassions. Also in the same part of the Koran which commands mullahs must yell into 21st century loudspeakers 5 times a day.

The only way for the government to do anything is for the floods to become so terrible that it starts to have a detrimental effect to tourism and property values. Anything less is judge an inconvenience, apparently.
See that poor woman indebted to loan sharks? She had to self immolate before any thing was done to help her.
So, we have a few choices: Put up with it, self immolate or pray for really heavy rainy season to constantly flood all those sub standard new developments.

I have seen a store on the east side of sukhumvit, I think it is just after the south Pattaya junction as you go southwards (possibility that it is after thepprasit junction, I am unsure now). It has a big sign that says "rainbird" which is a brand of sprinklers.

The joke in Malaysia is they look North to see how bad things can become and look South to see how far they have fallen behind.
