  1. Flooding has been on the cards for quite some time but it only had just got the attention of the government. Shame on the administration.

Try to be a bit fairer.

They hyave only been in power a couple of months.

And they are only jjust beginning to realise how bad their education system has been for all in Thailand, especially rural areas where most of their party leaders were educated in the past as kids. themselves

Never think what the cost is to build thousands of kilometers dikes. That takes at least a decade to built them.rolleyes.gif

  2. Two cargo ships, the Hua Ping and Yu Xing 8, were attacked in the golden triangle area of the Mekong River on October 5??????????

The Chinese Foreign Ministry in the statement said it has asked the Chinese embassy in Thailand and consulate general in Chiang Mai to investigate the incident immediately and spare no efforts to search for the missing.

unsure.gifShit, the police has already to react after 5 days.I feel so sorry for them.unsure.gif

  3. Low compared to what, North Korea? It's only low when you're low end, such as mediocre housing rental or dining out noodles on the street, but for anything of substance, such as quality food & wines, car imports, or mortgages and loans for vehicles, proper internet, it is the same, if not more, than the West. I agree with the post above yours, although those buying votes are clever as they know full well the masses are too stoopid to know what they're buying into.

Eating noodles off the street makes it extremely cheap, but even eating in restaurants is relatively cheap. Ofcourse, if you're wanting to eat imported foods, then you have to pay for that, but that's mostly due to import taxes.

I have proper internet here costing me 640 baht. It would cost me twice that in Aus.

I ate out last night at a reasonable restaurant - 800 baht for 2 people, including some beers. You wouldn't get that in the west.

For you and me is that cheap. But not when you got 300 baht a day.Try one week to live from that.Pay your house rent, maybe motorbike, food, pay fot your children etc.sad.gif

  4. This story smells fishy. Why would anyone exchange their cash at a travel agency instead of a bank? Why would you bring US Dollars to Thailand instead of Thai Baht? It just doesn't make sense...

You can see that you've never been in South Africa. It's very usual that you get a ticket and they chance all kind of money.Nothing unusual. You must be an idiot to bring Thai bahts because you get maybe 15 bahts for a dollar.Try to change bahts in Indonesia. You get 50% when you're lucky.

  5. Oh my, oh my! Let's hear the moral brigade justifying increasing the income of a Thai rice farmer, balanced against reducing the food affordable to the poorest of the planet.

How long before we see a post with a picture of a painfully thin Bangladeshi woman holding an empty rice bowl?

Don't point fingers. When you feel sorry, cool.gif you fill the bowl up.Start with yourself and then point fingers.

  6. Box Jelly [Chironex fleckeri and 20 near relatives] is found off the shores of Northern Australia, PNG, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. This marine animal has a boxy bell head the size of a basket ball and three metre tentacles that can kill a man in a couple of minutes, though there are recent reports of much smaller Box jellies that are just as deadly.

I paddle every day with my sea kayak at sea in Cha-am.In the dry season I see almost every week box jelly fish.Last year a woman died here on the beach in Cha-am.

Like ow in the raining season I see every day hundreds of them. When you like to swim for an hour at sea, your chance to get bitten is almost 100%.

The best time is from April to August, like this year.I swum almost every day about half an hour without problems.

  7. This is a disgrace.....

Five years for more trains??? Who are they trying to kidd? That isn't a plan, that is a mean joke, on the riders.

Who cares about more commercial space? Is there a problem with people not being able to find a place to shop in Bangkok? No, I didn't think so.

The problem is the service on the Airport Link and people need a solution NOW, not in five, or more, years.

Since when is development of the surrounding area at Makkasan station a Transportation Ministry subject matter? Why is the transportation Ministry involved in development issues at a particular station? Moreover, if development occurs at Makkasan, it will make the poor service even worse because of the increase in ridership.

It seems to me that the Transportation Ministry still does not understand that the Airport Link line is a commuter line for local workers and residents. The huge majority of riders are local residents going to work, shop, or leisure who need a convenient, predictable, and timely train. Tourist make up less than 10% of the ridership.

If the line becomes more rider-friendly for locals, it will automatically become better for tourists.

Thais: you deserve much, much better than this.

    I don't know which school you got.It's now 2011.In 2014 more trains,that make 3 years,not 5 years.....bah.gif

  8. Now we all know what we all expected..Yinluck is a liar just same as her brother , and the idiots fell for more lies and propaganda.... they get what they deserve..!!!!! complain, and a visit from Red Shirts for sure...

Then you call 70 % of the Thai voters idiots. You must be a much bigger idiot when you want to live here.bah.gif

  9. A couple of sentences in this column really hit the mark "

"... the military and the old establishment together have further intensified the crisis. Violent confrontations have become normal events in Thailand."

" Throughout the past five years, the political stalemate that has shaken the nation - playing with the Thai people's emotions and deeply polarising our society - has unveiled so many dark secrets in politics. For one thing, it has revealed the anxiety on the part of the old establishment about a more open society. This has now clearly emerged as a threat to their power position. From this view, Thaksin is not really a menace to the Thai elite - an open political space is. "

What people really want today is put these five years behind them. If you read Thai forums, what real Thai people talk about in the social forums, you will realize they have moved on.

It's true that for the past five years, violent confrontation was becoming an "acceptable" way of solving political dispute. But Thai people realized they didn't solve anything and they were left footing the bill. Now, all they want is peace and reconciliation.

One more time, a couple of TV posters show they are out of touch with the realities of the country. It's not good for foreigners in Thailand. How long before the government realizes that a couple of foreigners still call for civil war and some even for murder and makes us all pay the price ? As guests in a democratic country we are of course entitled to express freely our opinion but it should be done in a moderate and balanced way.

Alas, we are paying (a lot) guests in a very un-democratic society...... but there is cheap booze, cheap and young girls to play with, and soon to be many more... and lots of fun watching the locals fight and kill each other... . the food is almost as tasty as the girls are... and cheap same as... any problems , you pay the relevant authority, no problems.. Thats the only reason us Farang men are here and if anyone says different, who are they trying to kid.... look in the mirror Billy...!!

Thats the only reason us Farang men are here and if anyone says different, who are they trying to kid.

    You're absolutely right

  10. I'm one of the guys of the sexpat community like in this article describe. This guy is absolutely right.I'm here in huahin and there are a lot guys are like me.

They have a girl at least 30 years younger, run a bar or do like me,go for a drink 11 a.m with many of my mates and get drunk every day..laugh.gif

When I was in Pattaya it was there exactly the same. When we have to go back to our home countries, then we are there scum.Drinking, screwing and have only drinking mates.blink.gif

I don't like politic, special not when it's not my home country.Thats up to the Thai people and the most of them like Thaksin or you like it or not.We have to stay out Thai politic and mind your own business.
