Should have posted that earlier. Was riding with 2 other bikes en route to Korat followed by Khon Kaen for bike week at that time. Did you ride from Bangkok?
-
My bike is still not back on the road after I wrecked it in January. Waiting for petrol (not gas) tank. No idea how they managed to replace the frame, but not get me a petrol tank yet. Off to Kazakhstan tomorrow for a trip offshore and hopefully it will be back on the road by time I get back, then I will be out doing regular runs from BKK (not iron butt though, I like about 600km max for a day trip).
What kind of bike do you ride?
-
Umm.....not mine. I have a ER6F but its basically the same bike. I put 8000km in 8 months and rode it pretty hard and never had an issue.
-
More than likely.
Think most would be happy with a relatively sporty 400 and 600, and maybe a cruiser for those of a leather-tassel persuasion.
I guess I could settle for a Hornet 600

This is what got me going crazy today:
So i went to a supermarket, i rode there on my moped, saw a few ducatis and late model cbr's and R1's parked near by, lookd around for the riders, saw them sitting down having some coffee and drinks at a table, the first thing i noticed was that they were in FULL GEAR, im talking about some had leathers, others had protectors that made them look like a robot, nice thing on. I chatted them up for a while, hoping that maybe we can ride together, they seemed nice, so i asked if they were busy next weekend, most said no, so i asked "how about a ride to........" and i got the most stupid excuses....too long to type here....the i though "wait wait wait, what???" why are u guys dressed up like you about to go to participate on motoGP? then i asked, "are you guys riding anywhere today?" some said no, maybe just down the street...then i asked the question i been dying to ask, "where do you guys live?" the answer mostly was "oh,just right around the block".....
and sadly, this is most of you......
Atleast they don't trailer the bikes to Phuket and beyond and ride around the corner, American style.:cheesy::cheesy:
American Style???? When I was still living in the states there were more riders doing 2-3 day trips or 300 mile day trips than anything I have seen out here. Hell most guys i knew crossed state lines (while riding, not trailered) at least once a month. Not sure where you got that American style perception from but that is definitely not the case. I mean as much as I hate Harleys those guys even ride more in the US than most "bikers" out here.

Get yourself up north, plenty of people up here with bikes and some of the best roads in Thailand. Here's a pic from yesterday's trip
That looks like T, J, G, and S from front to back. I assure you these are not Sunday once around the block types.
Awesome, now if I can just figure out how to get my bike there...
I thought you used the Nouvo ?????
Good point. But wait...its in the shop and the trailer has a flat tire.
-
So does this mean we'll be able to buy a brand new CBR1000 for a reasonable price, with green book and all?

Where does it say l am ''afraid'' . ?
In between the lines of text. If you look real close you can see it. Why else would you avoid taking your "special" big bikes out more often?
-
OP, your talking <deleted>.
My 7 ltr Pontiac came out when l felt like it. Same for '' Special '' big bikes. LOS is NOT the place to use mega power on a daily basis, whether bike or car. Don't knock other owners, their decision.
Think you worry to much about what other people are doing to enjoy their life. If a biker sits in a coffee shop, you have NO idea where he has been or where he is going eh. Concentrate on what you do for fun, hope your wrist doesn't go limp on you.
This coming from the guy that's afraid of "mega power on a daily basis". Maybe if you hopped on the bike a bit more often you wouldn't have that problem.
So where did you get l am ''afraid'' of '' mega power on a daily basis '' from ?.
From your first post.

I refuse to ride a Fino.
I ride my Fino to BRC every Sunday for track days.
Nooooooooooooooooo !
Atleast make it a Nouvo man!
I save my Nouvo for the street. Gotta have something to tow my Fino to the track with considering its got race fairings and tires that would make Lance Armstrong jealous.

This is Thailand; image is everything?
That's part of the problem. So many people just wanna have the image. If you bought a bike to look cool you might as well just sell it and use the money to buy a shirt that says "I'm a f*cking poser!!"
So if you wanted to be cool you'd just sell the really cool bike and buy a t-shirt that made you look like a <deleted>?
Man, you must suck at being cool. Just sayin'
Not exactly. What I'm saying is, I don't need a f*cking bike to be cool, and for dam_n sure i don't need to sit at a coffee shop in all my gear just so people can see that I ride. If you bought a bike to ride, RIDE!! If you bought it for the image, sell it cuz you just look like a <deleted>.

Riding is supposed to be a pleasant experience. Why they have clubs like the Iron butts who make it a major amount of misery by riding a thousand miles in 24 hours is just crazy to me.
It's called dedication. To some people its more than doing a Sunday Ride. Its about doing what most people would only dream of.
-
especially now in raining season its hard to find a day to ride.
What does the raining season have to do with it? Last time i checked there was nothing wrong with riding through a bit of rain.

The OP has a point. But this forum is not alone. A rider (not I) posted on Ducati Thailand forum about riding down to Sepang this year and the thread has nearly 600 views. I was the only one who replied.
Happysiam, you need to get on Facebook!
Yeah, funny that. Many westerners I've met here who have a Thai partner are under the thumb, pussy-whipped, or the term I prefer 'c*ntstruck'. The woman carries their testicles around in her handbag.and i cant believe the answers i got from you guys..."my wife said no"I guess it just comes down to whether you have the balls to be a true biker or you just wanna look cool. Sadly for many, talking about their bike at a coffee shop is more important than actually riding the dam_n thing.
-
+1 on the OP's post. I see lots of bikes parked in front of bars, clubs and coffee shops then you start talking to the owner and they're like "oh I just ride in bkk". Seriously?? U got the whole country of Thailand as your playground and u pick the worst place to do your riding. But they're probably the same guys u see riding their r1 in a tshirt and sandals.

Drive on all of 'em except tollways. Drive however you want, wherever you want, just make sure you're faster than the BiB.
-
any more info? starting times etc.?
thanks

The new CBR 150's look real nice. But when you consider its possible to buy a used 2 stroke 150 with twice the power and 10kg less for about 20% of the price it doesn't seem like such a good deal anymore.
-
+1 on the riding it there

And my Harley eats ERs for dinner in a straight line.
HAHAHA!!!!! Unless you are riding a V-Rod or have a fully modded 113" motor, you're out of your mind. And even on a V-Rod you wouldn't be "eating them for breakfast". It would be more like a few bike lengths and the end of a quarter mile. Any other Hardley Ridable would be lucky to see and ER6's tail lights at the end of a 1/4.
http://www.mcnews.co...01perfindex.pdf
V-Rod is the only sub 12 sec Harley and the FatBoy is the only sub 13 sec (barely) followed by everything else. You might wanna do a bit of research before you start throwing out claims like that like that.
Yes a V rod will eat you for dinner, I am running about 110 hp in a light frame, have already gone against a er6 as my mate rides one, he also couldnt be told and thought his was fast too, and you aint got nothing mate so hope you like looking at a harley ass because if try against any thing with a bit of work it will leave you standing.
Like I said its a sports bike when you dont have a sports bike, Its a slow bike just because it looks like a sports bike dont make it so
Well really it pretty well a sports bike joke to any one that rides a real sports bike :jap:
Go to BIRA circuit with your 110hp and your light frame. Then we'll see who "ain't got nothing." I never said that the ER6 was the fastest or best bike out there, but it is better than a Harley.
But then again anything is better than a Harley....
