Who talked about psycho ?
Just you.
It's just crazy the way you understood my post.
I just said: try to get get an advice directly from someone who is used to dogs ( maybe owns one), in real situation : in the soi, on the bike, confront these dogs.
Might help more than on a thread only.
-
Emsaree, do you know someone who has experience with dogs and understand their show off?
Maybe you could ask such a person to share a ride on the bike with you on this soi, pass through the dogs controled area, and give you his (or her) feeelings on the risks and how to behave ?
This could lower your apprehension.

Separate rings for separate keys is a good advice.
Something you also can do is to have your mobile phone number on a label with your key chain, so you can be joined in case you forget them somewhere.

Thanks to Samuiwebcam and the announcers, it's a rejoicing new habit to have my morning cup of coffee watching Samui scenes while away from Thailand.
Maybe some day it will be possible to have both image + sound ?
Thank you!

By the way... A friend of mine got examined by a farang doctor living in Samui ( not openly practicing) - he got his leg checked, no radio, nothing, no blood analysis...nothing specific, he jus needed to have a an advice in his mother tongue.
He was asked to pay ....... you won't believe it ...

Good morning,
" For the first time! Today you can open an online account via SCB Easy Net by yourself and be able to use it right away! No complicated process, no passbook to bother you, no document required, Do not have to go to the bank, No more waiting, No time wastes. Available for both savings and fixed deposit accounts."
... that's what they say on this website..

I agree with you, The Oggmonster
What you mentioned in the above post belong to the amosphere of Samui, it's familiar sounds, the wall's ice creams cart jingle is another one.
What in my opinion is going in an other direction is when the boxers are shown as if it was a parade, most of the time they look bored.
Sometimes it's too much show off and vulgar on Chaweng beach road, and not fun or amazing as it used to be
that's my opinion.

good evening,
Crystal bay resort is located on a very quiet and beautiful little beach between Chaweng and Lamai.
For someone who does not rent and drive a motorbike (10 mn drive), and wants to spend the evening in Chaweng, I would rather recommand an other location, 10 mn walk from the center part of Chaweng ( and cheaper and quieter),

"Most of them keep their chin high up and think they are better then everyone else."....
It's a pain for me to witness how some of them speak to thai salaries in the shops, I try hard to keep my mouth shut because I lack vocabulary to argue with such rude people.
Also now, I stopped giving politely the way to them, which they consider as a due, I do not say sorry anymore, and do my best to adapt my attitude...

Hello,
For the hotel, I would suggest Poppies , on Chaweng beach, http://www.poppiessamui.com/

I use Jaico roll on, 50 ML costs 290 TB at Saver Mart in Chaweng;
You do not need to apply the product all over your body, just pass it once on your exposed arm or leg, it is effective several hours.
So I just need 1 Jaico 50 MLr oll on, for a whole month.
And it works !
You can try with the smaller roll on, which is also available.

I finally received a phone call from the New Star Manager this morning, alles ist in ordnung, admin, you can close or delete the topic if you wish to.
Thanks to all !

Maybe the guard was doing the right thing and instructed these people to enter the reception via the main gate. The management may have had problem's with people pretending to go to reception then rob a few bungalows on the way. Also most guard have poor understanding of english and these people admit there english is not good so old story half the fact's. Has the poster called the resort for a response as a phone number has been provided.
of course he spoke english, until he could not find other arguments, as we arrived at the main entrance as he told us to do, and then were denied by force access to the main lobby.
as i said, the major fact that seems important to me is the use of physical threat.
maybe would you just have said ok, ok then... i just do not like to be treated like a guilty person when i just ask for information and do as i was asked.

Thanks to everyone for reading my poor english written post...
I had a very short night, I felt upset, and just gave up thinking how things would have turned out had the guy carried a gun, instead of a stick.
I think he was afraid I would complain, so he physically empeached me to make a phone call to the hotel while we werw just standing outside on the mainroad.
When we stll were on the beach we did not want to make too much trouble, because of the guests lying in the sun who do not need to witness this, so we walked away.
But half an hour later, when we arrived near the entrance, from the mainroad, we noticed the guard was waiting for our return, and then they were two to forbid us to go further.
We are not people to get easily out of temper , sadly we are in our 50 s ... but we do not like to act by force under intimidation, so we asked for explanations, and then he threatened us. By the way, I notice that the beach side was propably left without any safety guard during all the time.
I endly told the guy he was a dangerous man , and he said yes, and said he does not speak english anyway.. so I said mai pen rai and walked away.
I think he told me the 10000 TB rate in order to discourage me, meaning this hotel is not for me.
He could simply let me call the reception to ask for the room rate , but told me I should check with internet.
So , no step inside, no phone call, and physically threatened, to avoid any encounter with any other person who could be in position to check and balance.
Thanks everyone again, I felt I needed some help.

Hi everyone,
I m in Samui now, and I wonder if someone here in this forum knows someone from the management of the New Star Hotel.
I have already written to the email adress found on the website but think I ll never get an answer...
Could not get to the reception hotel to get the room rate and it seems on of the security guard there has full power to threaten people with his stick, so I think the management has to know about this behaviour.
We were a couple and we walked all along Chaweng noi beach to chose a hotel, and as we wanted to go to the reception, the security guard told us we could not do it from the beach, we should return to the main road and use the road entrance.... that means 30 minutes walk to get the information we needed... the guy could not even give us the rate, just said 10000 TB per night.
By the way, he spoke on a very agressive ton and told us we should not even walk on the private part of the beach .. We were decently dressed, with bermudas and tee shirts, not drunk, nothing like
Anyway, we went on, got informations from other hotels nearby till the end of the beach, until we returned walking on the mainroad to the new star main entrance.
Then, the same security gaurd who had left the beach and joined his collegue at the entrance just forbid us to go to the reception, and probably was afraid we would complain about his behaviour.
We insisted on wanting to go to the reception, but he then treatened us with his stick.
We hate to quarrel for silly thinks , but we even more hate to be threatened. And we are determined not to let this incident unknown.
We do not trust the staff of this hotel, as we experienced the way the security guard feels comfortable to decide who comes inside or not, and does not hesitate to physically threatens would be guests.
It happened during lunch time today.
Thanks anyway if someone can give me the contact we are looking for.
