It is far easier for a Thai speaker to learn Chinese than English. Also many Thai people already speak Thai.
It needs to be borne in mind also that the Confucius Institute is now invaglin its way into many Thai universities and other institutions like the CIA did in the 1960s
To be fairly competent in the chinese writing system needs years of study. In contrast, latin alphabet makes it easier to access and understand English. Try with kids if you disagree…

Pffft
in fact, in touristic areas, they do speak English enough good to interact with foreigners from all over the world and their terrible accents... and it's quite remarkable.
In Thai family managed hotels, you even can find staff happy to learn with the guests, able to chat in different languages, and they are not necessarily graduated from universities. They are duely appreciated for their service and get good tips!

They write the sign in English!
Boring listen to people complain English not enough for SOME customer.
Happen already. Reason make the sign.
This is exactly the reason why this sign is showing off the supidity of the business owner. It has a repellent effect even on all the many other foreign customers who would'nt have complained.

They take all their wealth and then you throw them some crumbs and they should be grateful. LOL
The only point I tried to make in relationship to this thread is that it's a shame that people work a lifetime to build a country and when it cones time to retire, they cant even afford to live there.
and when they look at people to blame, looking at the immigrants and at the refugees is a mistake because they are a small percentage of a small percentage of the wealth distribution scheme, The solution is in the 82% of the wealth pie.
It is really a simple concept, not my fault if some of you guys cant understand the math.
It's not the numbers in average that count, it's the impact on their everyday life, their immediate neighborhood, that contributes to the people's perception- with good reasons - of their own impoverishment. If your social environment is downgraded, then so are you.

I learnt recently that in 19th Century England it was considered indecent for a woman to appear in public without some form of head covering, even if on the way to or from work in a factory. Those who carry on about how women should/shouldn't dress in other cultures are generally ignorant of the wider world or any sense of their own, let alone others' history. Until the last 200 years many peasant women in SE Asia do not cover their breasts, something some of our members would probably have welcomed - https://mythailand.blog/2017/02/24/thailand-topless-women/
if it were only a dress code dispute it would'nt matter, it's the submissive social and political system based on simplistic suras that are questionable. We in the west do not tolerate sharia police within our borders.

Well, that's twice Americans have married into the senior Royal Family, and twice they've messed it about. ????
One thing being held against her in some circles is her being mixed race. Frankly, if the media hadn't made a fuss about it, I wouldn't have known, I just thought she sunbathed a bit.
all you need is love, even when you're a royal, ask Charles

Whether they stay or go is somewhat beside the point. It is the manner in which it has been done. Instead of working out a solution there was an announcement made in haste.
Also if Meghan wants to throw a spanner in the works she should at least have the manners to face everyone in person. Her behaviour would seem to suggest she is a bad mannered coward.
the tabloïds ...terrible article

Answer: There is no justice found in that action. It is only revenge. And I'm not faulting Harry's parents at all for their reaction.
This story is only an opportunity for the media to make money sensationalizing a horrible accident.
Those that read, write and post comments about this story only increase the value of the media's investment and the media only cares about their money. They don't care one iota about Harry Dunn, the Dunn family, the lady who made the mistake or any animosity that this story generates. That is the sad truth.
Justice is an excellence of the soul and injustice is a vice (Socrates) ...
The sad truth is that she escaped all legal proceeding after killing Harry Dunn: It's a hit and run after a fatal crash, and the CCTV showed she was 100% responsible.
It's the waiver of the immunity the family is asking, so that the lady can be accountable of her action, not jail.
In this case, diplomatic immunity is equivalent to complicity.
Maybe this case and the media coverage will help modify this cause of injustice, in opposition to what you stand for ( just mourn and shut up).

Losing a family member, your son, brother, etc regardless of the cause is never easy. however, this was an accident and putting this lady in jail isn't going to fix anything, it is an act of revenge and not justice... now the media will make money selling this tragedy as something more than what is really is... the media and journalist have no soul.. it's time to move on...
This lady did'nt bother to even meet Harry Dunn's parents while she was still in the UK - not at the hospital where Harry Dunn's has been taken to, for instance - so that Harry Dunn's parents were desperate to know if she even tried to comfort their son after the accident. Sad.
But she was OK to meet them at the WH with US Presisent when Harry Dunn's parents went to the US seeking for justice - they refused the photo op.
This is a quest for righteousness at least and of course justice, and not revenge as you label it.
But OK , it's not within your scope of comprehension, so... move on.

Here's a quick heads up when it comes to associating with thai people in in particular the 'family, no matter who's the host or who has more money, all eyes will be turned to you, as this is your time to 'shine' and earn respect by galanty and nonchalant like pulling out this wade of cash or the credit card and pay for everything and everyone, the last thing would be to be perceived as Kiniau and a thightass, this is the tests in which Thai people judging non Thai and suiters to theirs daughters...
It's a sort of "guess who's coming to dinner" blind date with a potential flirt, he's not yet about to ask her, it does'nt have to turn out to an all inclusive buffet at his expenses to impress family and friends.

So you will just meet a potential flirt and she already has plans to introduce you to some friends and relatives, but do you know her enough already, and are you interested in meeting all these persons at this stage?
I'd say, if you are a foreigner visiting Thailand, if they invite you, the bill is not for you.

Iran’s airspace was a war zone. Iran just fired two dozen ballistic missiles a few hours earlier against US bases in Iraq, retaliation from the US was expected. Iranian anti-aircraft defense was on high alert, anti-aircraft defense systems, which must intercept targets flying at high speed or at low altitude, require rapid décisions, an operator can easily make a mistake , especially when the alert is at it's highest, why was'nt this flight cancelled?

Pure, unadulterated BS of the highest order. Pls provide proof and a sample of the British press treating Meghan to extreme racist abuse. The dislike stemmed 100% from Markle's own behavior - virtue signalling, playing woke politics, vile hypocrisy, alienating and dividing the royal family, greed, not allowing photos to be taken in public etc etc etc
Your above effort is probably the worst troll post I ever read on TVF (and there have been a fair few!)
And this is all far worse than what Andrew is suspected of? Right?

War profiteers speaking on ways to start a war with Iran, all out in the open. Imagine how they talk in private!
but it's exactly the conclusion the rest of the world already has come to, and this suspicion is what Americans denounce as "anti-americanism": first trade wars, then wars, sanctions, maximum pressure, extraterritoriality of U.S laws etc, etc.. it's all about war in America, and Trump is totally transparent about his motivations.
