  1. Hey its my moms birthday soon and I want to take her to a nice restaurant with a focus on good food. Price not too much of an issue as shes getting old and not sure how many of these birthdays left so dont mind the expense. If its not expensive but absolutely awesome food thats great too, any recomendations? She liked Lemoncello on Soi 11 but want to bring her somehwere different.
  2. What do some of you think is the minimum time needed from landing in Vientiane to getting back to Udon Thani airport? That requires taxi from Vientiane airport to Thai border, getting through immigration, then taxi from border to Udon Thani airport.
  3. Well was planning Cambodia and back same day to Bangkok but now seriously looking at Laos and walking over and flying from Udon Thani
  4. Yes thats an option but is it necessary to take that extra precaution? You think Id be in trouble if I just flew in again same day?
  5. Hey so I have entered thailand 4 times in the past 7 months, going away for 1 or 2 weeks each time I leave. Each time I returned (by air) just got visa exempt. I turn 50 early next month and will get my retirement visa going then but this time I wanted to do a one day border bounce by air to Cambodia in the next few days. I know I'll probably get a warning or even taken aside to discuss it but with me turning 50 and plans to get retirement visa soon will they be lenient? Guess Im wondering if anyone has recent experiences to share. Thankyou.
  6. ok great thats very important, didnt realise the clock restarted with every entry, which makes sense. Thats makes it even easier if she travels alot, she may never have to report.
  7. Yes her stamp says multiple entry, she got it when she got the 1 year extension. So to be clear with her multiple entry stamp... she does not need to do anything to leave and come back correct? So my language is incorrect? This is NOT a visa? Its just a.... retirement extension? lol
  8. Was just noticing that border runs by land cost the same as a cheap flight to Cambodia return. Is there a reason people would chose the land border run over a comfortable quick flight there and back in half the time? Serious question, I'm assuming there is something vital I'm not aware of. Thankyou
  9. Ok wow didnt realise there wasnt just a common retirement visa everyone gets. She got the non immigrant visa that gave her the 3 months to get started then the year. She applied in Thailand. I was under the impression that that meant her visa expires in 2024 and all she has to do is the 3 month reports. And that she could leave and come back as many times as she wishes during this time and it doesnt affect her expiry of 2024 since she got the multiple entry option.
  10. Just want to be absolutely clear, my mom has a shiny new retirement visa with multiple entry, this means she can just come and go as she pleases for the next year? She doesn't have to fill out a form or apply for or pay for anything each time she leaves to keep her visa? Thankyou
  11. My bad, seems I just forgot how to make international calls lol, I figured it out and made the business call I needed to make using my Canadian Sim. Im a dummy.
  12. When I first got here to Bangkok in December 2022 I got a thai e-sim installed on my Canadian unlocked iphone that has a physical Canadian Sim card inside, everything worked fine, I could make calls in thailand with the thai e-sim and could call Canada using the Canadian Sim. I just noticed that I can no longer call Canada using the Canadian Sim, when I try I get a Thai recording telling me Im not set up for international calls, which makes sense if I was trying to use the Thai sim but it very clearly shows me Im attempting to use the Canadian sim to make a Canadian call but its not actually happening, it seems to be defaulting to the Thai e-sim. Anyone have a clue what might have changed or is going wrong now? Thanks
  13. Is there any kind of fast safe delivery service from Pattaya to Bangkok? Looking to send a passport.
  14. Ya right now only the older models can be software modded, but if you wanted you could bring your oled switch to a shop and get it chipped. Sell the original games to pay for the chip ????
  15. So went to MBK and got one there, for anyone interested you can get an oled switch with 128, 256, 512 gigs capacity (the size of the sd card) preloaded with a bunch of games. The 512 has about 70 games on it. Price is 17500 for the 128, 18500 for 256 and 20500 (I think) for 512 loaded with games. Normally an oled switch is about 11500 baht new so you're paying about 5k for the mod chip install and and then paying for an sd card loaded with games or not. I chose to buy the white modded oled (brand new) for 16500 (one guy quoted me 16000 but it would take 3 hours to prepare whereas the one I bought was ready to go) and then I bought a 1TB sd card for 3600 baht and will load my own games at home. I did talk him into spending an hour loading 10 games for me for free but I already planned to do the vast majority of the downloading and installing games at home. Its not hard just annoying. He had the 512's and under preloaded but they were missing some of my must have games anyway and I wanted 1TB size. If you're not in a rush like me and don't want the aggravation of downloading and installing a ton of games you can buy the same setup as me and chose all the games you want loaded on it but he will take a day to do that. 1TB can hold about 150 games depending on if you ask for lots of big games... for 25k baht. He has a catalogue to choose from.
  16. Was looking to buy a chipped oled switch, is MBK still the place to go to buy such things? I see some on facebook marketplace but wondering if theres a place that offers them?
  17. I recently fried a very expensive 2tb Wd black sn850 nvme hard drive in my laptop and the guy at the shop said it’s common here in Thailand because of unstable power. Greaaaat. So he suggested some sort of power bar or something that can avoid that, he meant a surge protector power bar right? Anyone know where I can buy a good quality one that’s guaranteed to work? Don’t mind expensive, data is priceless.
  18. Heard this rumour several times, that you can apply for retirement visa in the year you turn 50 even if its before your actual birthday. Any truth this?
  19. Yes we understand the bank account stuff, just clueless about how to get a condo owner to give us what we need. We are in Bangkok and will deal with immigration there. Do they not need a condo lease to get this started?
  20. Hey, my mom is about to start the process for retirement visa, we just finished depositing the 800k baht in a thai bank acount from overseas, we understand we get a document from our bank to prove that, the other document required is a proof of accomodation. Is there a universal "rental contract" I can download and get the owner of the condo to fill out and we sign or what exactly do I need here? The owner is Japanese if that matters. Thankyou
  21. I guess about 500 baht? I mean whatever gets the best value, I absolutely don’t want a bad breakfast, so whatever price gets me something decent.
  22. Can anyone recommend a good breakfast buffet in Pattaya?
  23. Yup thats what I figured, just weird skyscanner even puts that flight up as an option
