Evidence of adequate finance:
- Single-Entry Tourist Visa: Bank Statement showing at least THB 20,000 per person or THB 40,000 per family or equivalent in other currencies.
- Multiple-Entry Tourist Visa: Bank Statement showing at least IDR 80,000,000 (USD 7,000) for the past 6 months, and Letter of Employment
Where's the cash requirement?
They were arriving visa-exempt

You mean the actual visa extension stamp? I never knew that you had to apply for the new extension no later than 15 days before the old one expires.
You don't in my office (Nakhon Sawan) Last September my friend applied for his extension the day before his old one expired. I thought he would be in trouble but nothing was said. When I did my 90 report I asked how soon I can do my renewal and they said upto 30 days before the current one expires. There was no mention of any minimum.

Have you actually tested with a wired connection?
Another user nearby that's recently come up on WiFi could be conflicting.
Try one of the WiFi survey tools on your phone to check for channel conflicts.
Channel conflict is more of an issue with 2.4 MHz. Non overlapping channels are 1, 6, and 11

legally its not, ur home countries dl is valid if its in English for up to 90 day stays as a tourist
IF ur on a long term visa/extension u need show a Thai license. This is correct but good luck arguing with the cops and insurance companies if you make a claim. Even some embassy websites say you need one but legally you don't if your licence is in English. A few years ago my friend was stopped in his car in Chonburi and the cops wanted to fine him 1000 baht for not having an IDP. He insisted on going back to the station so it could get sorted and after a couple of hours waiting he was fined 500 baht and given a receipt. When he got to his hotel he asked reception to translate the receipt and they said he was fined 500 baht for not wearing a crash helmet 🤣

The Orange light was a service reminder light, and just needed to be reset. You should have taken the bike to the original workshop for them to reset.
...or just googled it. I use the Honda car dealership in Nakhon Sawan and they speak English and they also give me the empty can of the new oil they've used.

''A single parent ...''
You do not know this woman or her circumstances. But bash away on your keyboard if it helps ease the shock of the story for you. It's a nasty one certainly.
'The police confirmed the arrest of the woman soon after the incident. Neighbours know her as a reserved Asian woman, a single mother raising two children under challenging circumstances.'
I thought ppl not from the UK would like to know what sort of help is available to single parents as 'challenging circumstances' is very subjective journalism. Next time read the story.

I never noticed that a passportchecking would only take 45 seconds.. 2 to 5 minutes seems to be normal, with pictures and fingerprintgs and a grumpy officer...Anyway Thailand and computers don't match
I suspect they are referring to the actual electronic check of the passport when it is placed in the reader and not the whole clearance process

You are currently on a marriage extension.
What are the financial requirements pertaining to maintaining a bank balance for the two months prior to extension? Does a marriage extension allow for combined deposit+income?
Have you asked at YOUR local immigration office about using your Thailand income?
A marriage extension does not allow for a deposit and income combo, only a retirement extension.

I have used it many times as I travel back and forth from the USA. However, there are some people that are not over the age of 70 that seem to abuse this privilege for us older folks. Friendly, Yes and quicker.
This service is not only for 70-year+ passengers as first and business-class ticket holders can also use it. Disabled and wheelchair users are also eligible and you can pay for it as well. They carefully check your ticket before allowing you in so I don't know how you think it is being abused. On arrival, you can use fast-track immigration if you are with a Thai citizen or have young children but the same does not apply on departure.

I do not believe the TM6 has been brought back at airports, but yesterday in the newspaper it said that you must have your boarding pass available at the immigration kiosk so it can be checked against your passport
This has been the case ever since the TM6 was dropped

The pink Thai ID card has your name in Thai but the Thai driving licence has your name in English

Anyone up for a rain dance?
N95 face masks are the only ones that help with air pollution. The low medical-grade masks that most ppl use are no good at all.

Totally agree.
IMO it is an example of the culture here. It's one of many hangovers of Sakdina, whereby the Munnai control the Phrai. Those in power still think they have a duty to control the unruly 'peasants' so they come up with these sanctimonious 'pointless' rules as a show of power and to make themselves feel righteous. They consider themselves the adults who have a duty to control the children. The attitude was particularly noticeable in Prayut (he didn't have the self awareness to hide it) but essentially all the 'leaders' think this way.
So it may appear pointless, but it does have the effect of being another nail to reinforce this hierarchical relationship between the 'good people' and the 'stupid' proles.
I couldn't agree more. There are many rules, bans, and regulations that are simply put in place to show the power the ruling class has over the working class.

A single parent in England and Wales would receive child benefit for both children, universal credit, housing benefit, council tax paid, and free school meals. None of which would be available to her in Thailand.

Plastic is not as good as other things, but way better than using paper. Plastic isn't the problem, it's what humans do after they use it. No reason for any plastic to end up in the seas or landfills.
As always, people are the problem.
Plastic can only be recycled 2 to 3 times whereas paper can be recycled indefinitely. So what do you think happens to the plastic when it can't be recycled anymore?

You have to do your own risk-benefit analysis. Currently, I think I'm more likely to become seriously ill from the vaccine than from the Omicron Covid Virus. My last Moderna vaccine caused me Pericarditis and in the Autumn of 2022 my Mother had the bivalent Moderna vaccine booster and the next day suffered a blood clot which caused a stroke and brain bleed - she passed away shortly after. She had recently had a full medical check-up at the hospital to ascertain her fitness for surgery (knee replacement) and was passed as fit.

Which age?
It seems some people think 17 year old girls are underage, other think anybody below 20 is underage.
And then there is of course "real" underage, below the age of consent in Thailand which, as far as I know, is 15.
Personally, I think nobody of any age should be forced into prostitution and anybody who does that should be severely punished.
But if a teenage girl wants to have sex, and she thinks about starting with a boy from her village for free, or collecting a 6-digit amount, I can understand that many girls will be ready to sell their service.
I used to think the age of consent in Thailand was 15 but it is only 15 under certain circumstances. The 15-year-old can only give consent legally if the act happens at their registered family address and if it happens outside the family home then the parents have to give permission otherwise the girl or her family can complain of statutory rape. In effect, this makes the unfettered Thai age of consent to sex to be 18 years of age. We saw this recently in the case of the 20-something English teacher having a relationship with a 16-year-old girl and her family complaining of rape.

Older people are advised to visit hospital for an anti biotic.
Antibiotics do not help with viruses and they slow down your recovery by suppressing your immune system

with the trains/metro going just about everywhere, why drive? I moved to CM to get out of traffic 10 years ago, then daughter began college in BKK and wife and I wanted to be closer to her if there were any immediate problems so we kept our house in CM and rent a house in BKK. Now with the trains etc, there is no reason to drive at all in BKK and now be able to go anywhere in a very comparatively shorter time. But, I still like CM better but recognize all the available conveniences now in BKK.
That's pretty much true of most Capital cities. When I worked in London I would book a hotel on the outskirts with a car park and near the underground. I would travel to client's offices on the bus or train and never use my car. I love Bangkok but my wife doesn't so we live in her home city Nakhonsawan.
