  1. 3/ Book a fake flight, there are many websites, that costs about $12 or I used and last years flight flight and just changed the dates. When the visa is issued you get 90 days before you have to use it so you don't have to travel on the dates you stated. 4/ Just book a hotel for a couple of days that is free to cancel and upload the confirmation. The reason 5 & 6 are not on the help page is because they're not applicable to your visa. A very poorly designed website. Just upload a blank document for 5 & 6. 7/ upload a recent bank statement. 8/ upload any recent official document with your UK address - bank statement, driving licence etc.

  2. Visa-exempt entries are single entry so are cancelled when you leave. The good news is when you return you will get another free 30 days visa-exempt entry. However, as you have a very awkward 33 day stay you must consider your options. 1/ A 3 day overstay will cost 1500 baht in fines and you will get a nasty black overstay stamp in your passport. If by chance you were caught/arrested during the 3 day overstay then you will be heading to immigration detention cells in Bangkok. 2/ Attend any immigration office and extend you stay by 30 days and cost 1900 baht. Pop in your chosen office and ask what is required as it can vary slightly from office to office. 3/ Obtain a 60 day Tourist (TR) Visa before you come. Costs around 1400 baht. 4/ Do a border bounce at sometime during your stay. That is leave the country by land, air or sea and when you return you will get another fresh 30 free visa-exempt entry. You can do this twice a calendar year by land but almost unlimited by air. The beauty of this option is you get to see one of the neighbouring countries and the 1900 baht you saved can go towards the cost. Avoid the Poipet border point as they have a very poor reputation.

I am pre-diabetic and try to completely avoid sugar in my diet. Restaurants here in Pattaya make that difficult.

One high-profile Norwegian restaurant uses sweetened condensed milk in their scrambled eggs. Another popular

restaurant, owned by an Australian, sprinkles sugar on French Fries. You can’t reason with them because they deny

using sugar in their recipes. Has anyone else noticed this???

I stopped using a local pizza shop as there was sugar sprinkled on my margarita. Thais use sugar in most of their cooking so no wounder they have such a diabetes problem. My wife is the only person in her family over 40 that does not have diabetes and it killed her father at just 73 years old.

You may wonder, if the age of consent is 15 and she is 16 and consented how could he have committed a crime?  The answer, as I understand it, is that there was literally no crime, UNTIL, the parents of the girl filed a complaint with the police.

He's not being charged with having sex with her as that is not illegal but apparently this is his charge: "taking a minor who is over 15 years old but not exceeding 18 years old away from their parents, guardian, or caretaker without reasonable cause, willingly and intentionally." or in other words he didn't pay her parents any money - the relationship has been going 5 months. In the UK having sex with this girl would illegal as anyone with a duty of care (teachers etc) cannot have sex with them until they're 18 even thought the age of sexual consent is 16.

Out of interest were they generally healthy? or overweight with a bad diet etc?

They were both very healthy. One was a fitness fanatic, mountain climbing etc age 56 and the other was a landscape gardener, age 51. Neither overweight. I've been told that Colon cancer is very slow growing so they would have both had it for some time. My colonoscopy was clear but my neighbours was not and she had to have polyps lasered off. Polyps can, but most don't, become cancerous. I suspect diet as opposed to life style is the cause of this type of cancer.

Incorrect. It is a registered bank and I have helped set up a bank account with them in London for a friend of mine here in Thailand. His 3 pensions are paid into it monthly. In fact they are in the process of setting up interest accounts too!!

Wise is not a bank but will supply you with an account number and sort code from a partner bank. Here is the statement from Wise

I logged in 3 different times into my 'Wise' account as normal and each time I received a warning that an unknown computer was being used, each time I ticked the 'computer can be trusted' button. After the first time I even changed my password, I was able to carry out a transaction and received an email that they had received my money and would send Thai Baht to my Thai account today, they would inform me by email when the money was on its way. After two hours and no email I tried the tracking option which informed me that it was taking longer than usual to process. I tried using the 'help' button only to find that the help team was overworked at the moment. Anyone know what's going on?

It isn't the PC they remember but your browser. The mobile phone is different tho' and I don't know about tablets

Good idea. But I have read on here that visas are very difficult to get in some jurisdictions. There was a case on here very recently where a British man was asked for proof of $10000 (?) in his bank account. He gave up in the end. They need to sort out rules which I/Os need to follow. Get rid of this nonsense where every immigration office interprets the rules in different ways. The only decent way of getting a 90 day tourist visa is to come into the country on a visa waiver then extend it at the immigration local office near to where you stay.

You are correct as the UK e-visa system says you must have £10,000 in your bank. I think this is a typo but as you say it puts ppl off. You can only enter Thailand visa-exempt for 30 days and get one extension for a further 30 days giving you 60 days not 90.

The last visa-exempt entry extension to 45 days was very popular and TAT was pushing for it to be extended to the end of the year but the last PM decided to bin it on 31st March of this year and revert back to 30 days.

Depends on the individual. That stuff stopped working for me after a while so I resorted to quackery from the internet, namely lemon juice and baking soda which worked a treat.

After the last attack subsided I went on to the Allopurinol and haven't had another attack in years.

It's not quackery. Very acidic food like lemons are metabolized by our stomachs as an alkaline and baking soda is also an alkaline so this raises the PH slightly and reduces the amount of uric acid your body produces from the purines in the food. Apple cider vinegar has the same effect for me.

You can download a pdf statement of your account and print that. It’s certainly not illegal in the UK to have paper statements.

as for the need to have £10k to get a visa, can’t help you but sounds ridiculous

I agree, as my bank let me download and print pdf of my account. The last 3 times I've applied for my non O e-visa the online application says I need £10,000 in my bank but this is a typo as I been granted my visa every time and never has 10k in my bank. Who on earth do they expect would keep 10k in their current account?

I'm not sure, but I have heard that a Thai woman who has a foreign surname may have issues when seeking to register Sor Por Kor land in her name.

Not true in my experience. We married in the UK and when we moved here my wife registered our marriage at the Amphur and then changed her name on all official documents. She owns our house and land and two years ago bought another small plot of land all in her married farang name.

Colcacine for one day is better than a couple of days/weeks. Worked for me.

Vit C staves off colds & flu!

Vit C has been proven to help the body dispel Uric Acid. Colchicine is an excellent treatment for Gout attacks but best taken with a NSAID that is handled by the Liver, such as Naproxen. The NSAID reduces the swelling, the cause of the pain, and the Colchicine discourages the white blood cells from repeating the swelling. You should also drink plenty of water so you urinate regularly and dispel the Uric Acid.

  14. The best treatment for acute gout attack is Naproxen (NSAID) and Colchicine, google for correct dosage of each. Then if attacks become frequent you can look at taking a life long drug every day called Allopurinol, there are many drugs used to help gout but this one is by far the most common.. This is a long term treatment for chronic gout and not a cure for acute attacks plus it can make an attack worse initially. Allopurinol takes about 3 to 6 weeks to have any real affect and the correct way to start taking it is to have your Uric Acid levels checked weekly so the dosage can be adjusted to suit you. If you're strong willed then life style changes can have the same affect as Allopurinol. Dehydration makes attacks more likely as the Kidney is the organ that dispels Uric Acid so the more you pee the more you dispel, but as we get older our kidneys are not so proficient at producing the enzyme needed to dispel the Uric Acid.
