Yes, but how easy is it to get a credit card? Even a work permit does not always get you one. I was refused a credit card by the SCB, and I had a work permit. I immediately cancelled my account.

I was thinking that most people will have one from their home country , given that most expats probably have one.

That Thailand never made it into the top 10 shows how insignificant the industry is on a global scale.

If you look again you will see that at 5.10 minutes into the video Thailand had briefly reached 9th position.

Then came the junta engineered coup , goodbye investor confidence and Thailand dropped out.

    Nice job Mr Prayuth .

Saw a couple of the unpixelated videos. She's pretty angry about something and was quite abusive towards some foreigners that I guess were trying to talk her down from the shrine (or cover up at least).

I got the impression from her repeated "**ck falang" outbursts that she had probably had a bad experience relating to herself being a foreigner. (Thus was being abusive to other foreigners, giving them the same type of treatment maybe she had received herself.)

Whatever the case, she probably won't be "welcome" in Thailand again for a long time.

What I heard was ' Allah Akbar .................... followed at the end by    ' ...eat my c..t '

A pretty unlikely couplet in any rant. , can of Chang not withstanding.

Sakda claimed that an MP had contacted him by phone demanding that he raise Bt5 million in fake documentation for help with the approval of DGR’s Bt1.27 billion budget.

Politician in question said to be from Prayuths ruling coalition so nothing will come of any investigation.

The issue will be kicked around various committees like a hot potato , each claiming it is under another committees jurisdiction until it goes cold and dies of atrophy.

  5. Thailand was up and coming until the coup. Now heading towards Feudalism.

I want to see a video like this for black pudding consumption . Something we can proudly lead the world in. And it must be English black pudding. No foreign imitation.

Also, before retirement or while you’re still working increase the limit on your cards to the max,

I don’t think it’s as easy without current employment.

    Yes....True.

I wanted to increase my limit to account for inflation and poor exchange rate but was aware that not being in employment might prove a hurdle.

However , I had an online shop selling things and received a regular payment into my account every week of around 100 dollars from the same payer.

After a year of this I was due to return to the UK in May and was going to get my limit modestly increased on the strength of these deposits.

Then Covid19 arrived , Thailand post suspended services to most places and my online shop crashed completely. Sods law that.

I had a gf 4 years back when I lived in Chiang Mai. She was a caddy. Some days there was work, more days than that there was no work. No work equals no pay. She'd spend all day in the waiting que for a golfer and get none and get no money. It's not glamorous or fun. It's hot work, outdoors, and the tips can amount to very little.

I dated a girl who worked in a snooker hall once. She was a bit on the short side so after a red , the ball to go for was not the black but the blue since it forced her to bend over the table in the most provocative way to re-spot it. Never forget that wonderful view of her on tip toes at a right angle

  8. In the English language newspapers today , a quote by CAAT director Chula Sukmanop :

"As of now, no commercial airlines are permitted to operate flights into and out of Thailand and only a number of foreign business people are allowed to enter the country for business purposes."

Whether this statement is just a reiteration of the current situation or Mr Chula has his facts wrong is not clear.

If it were literally true then hard to see how you can leave if the borders are closed and there are no flights.
