Normally, this should not be an issue as all 60-day extensions should now be postdated to start on September 26 and expire on 25 November.

Should be but many offices are starting the extension from the day of application , regardless of the official line in Bangkok. Best to check with your own immigration office as soon as possible to see how they are handling extensions.

Also , some offices are asking for your marriage licence to be confirmed as still current by your local amper and that you are still with your wife. Apparently this is easy to obtain for a small payment and is done while you wait.

The male that attacked was subsequently taken away to be kept elsewhere.

Which of course makes everything OK.

When these attacks happen the animal concerned should be put down , the owner to pay all medical expenses and compensation for time/ money lost by the victim plus a very hefty fine to be given to the victim and another to local authorities. Failure to pay earns the owner a jail term.

  3. Good clear pictures. Shows that anywhere dependent on tourist traffic is really suffering.

And yet by contrast , county towns off the beaten tourist track are about 95% back to normal. Our local

Big C is busy , car park full on weekends and downtown is bustling with life. Fewer and fewer people bothering with masks except in the chain stores like 7/11 and Tescos etc.

Why bother having a holiday elsewhere when home is so open to business.

'world leader in concrete zebras , mostly for domestic use'

Is that to scare off Thai ghosts, as after all a zebra is just a horse wearing pyjamas, so is used to night work.

I have never succeeded in finding out what the story behind the Zebras is.

No Thai has ever given me a plausible explanation. There used to be about 400 lining Sanam Bin road in a massive herd before the local authorities took them all away. Some were doll size others full size.

I have a Non-imm O Visa based on marriage obtained from HCMC which expired on 21 Aug 20. My permit to stay expered on 15 May 20, so I have been staying here under the visa amnesty and I had thought that I had until 27 September to sort something out. My intention was to apply for either an extension to my stay or apply for a new visa (whichever they allow?) using the 400k in the bank method. On 11 July I had 400k depsited in my bank account, enabling to apply on the 12 September, or so I thought.

Although I agree that Sri Racha are incorrect in what they have told you I was nonetheless told the same thing at Petchabun immigration recently , that they would not extend an expired visa.

It seems that there are immigration offices out there ignorant of the official line making up their own rules. Fortunately my Non O expires in September and I will apply before then for a 60 day extension to give my recent 400,000 deposit enough time to season.

I found the perfect solution to that. Let her drive.

Provided I am not in the same car or even province as my wife , might work.

She would need a motorcycle escort to reduce innocent casualties , or a man with a red flag walking in front of the car. ( make that a brave man or prisoner sequestered from death row )

Now there's plenty of Thai sellers selling the same Chinese <deleted> too - with even higher prices.

True but never had a problem yet. Not everything is worth faking I guess.

I actually knowingly bought a fake mini air conditioner thing. It is so low tech that a fake works the same as the real one. I've seen them online for 90 dollars !! The fake was less than 300 baht. Actually works for about 5 minutes until the ice melts. After that you just have the fan.

Small Portable Air Conditioner Ultra Cooler AC Arctic Air - Lively Focus

Everything else has been fine. A clue is often in the price. If something is crazy cheap ............beware

  8. I had this problem with HSBC.  For small amounts up to about 1000 pounds I got around the problem by paying transferwise with my debit card.

However, when trying to transfer 10,000 pounds last week I was unable to do it as HSBC did not recognize Transferwise as a company.

To get over this I had to telephone their helpline and speak to one of their agents. I explained the problem slowly and he was able to make the payment to Transferwise and also add them to my list of regular payees so that the problem won't arise again.

Daily News reported that a case of a two year old boy who was severely scalded by soup that fell on him at a Moo Katha (BBQ pork) restaurant caused a massive storm on social media.

The girl was hospitalized with nasty injuries and initially the grandparents had not sought help from the owner of the restaurant.

So is it a boy or a girl , make up your minds.

  10. In the old days, before the internet, the old people had this now obsolete gadget called the telephone. It enabled you to speak to real human beings and get answers from employees actually in situ. Really amazing stuff. They also had this paper stuff called cash. It was universally recognised, required no confirmation and was exceedingly useful.

Sigh, how primitive those long forgotten savages were.

  11. Reports so far indicate it will start from the day of application. This is against immigrations earlier announcement that all extensions would start on the 27th. This was said to avoid a last minute rush by people leaving it as late as possible.

I was at Petchabuns immigration office last week and I was told the extension would be from the day of application . I strongly advise contacting your own local immigration for their line on this since they all seem to be a law unto themselves.

Don't trust anything you read online. Best not to chance anything and go in person to inquire.
