  1. I have shipped nothing to the USA or Europe since late March and there are hundreds more like me. So, obviously , none of us are buying stock here to ship out. A loss to the economy.

Until Thailand post resumes ordinary service a lot of people less fortunate than myself might end up going to the wall. My supplier has so few orders he has had to lay off all his staff and is dealing with the trickle of orders he has remaining himself.

  2. So many conflicting opinions based on varying experiences it's no wonder people are not sure what to do for the best.

For myself , I have a valid Non O based on marriage issued at Savannakhet that will expire on September 15th.

However my last border bounce 90 days entry expired on June the 6th. Obviously , a back dated 60 day extension would be utterly useless to me.

I was planning to visit local immigration around September 10th to apply for either a 60 day extension to visit wife ...or .... the full 1 year extension based on marriage. ( by then I will have three 40,000 transfers

from the UK into my Bangkok Bank account ) . Not yet decided which of the 2 options will be better.

I don't think the land borders are going to be open by September 26th. Even if they are the old border bouncing method will be much changed with Covid free certificates and insurance likely to be a requirement.  Therefore , to keep hanging on , hoping that by doing so things will normalize and you will be able to exit , get a new visa , and simply re enter is IMO ,  a forlorn hope.

With that in mind , going for the 60 day extension in order to buy more time seems like delaying the inevitable , namely, applying for the 1 year extension.

Of course.....if the Covid situation deteriorates rather than improves then everything could be up in the air again so have to see what happens in the next 6 weeks.

He's asking about sedans, not trucks.

The OP could also spend considerably less buying a low mileage secondhand vehicle.

As he says, Vios and City seem the best on paper. Vios would get my vote because every mechanic in Thailand knows them.

Agreed. If living in a big city servicing is not a problem with any marque but once outside best to get something with loads of parts and that mechanics are familiar with.

    Really..

    George Carlin eh?

    What's next..Bugs Bunny..Daffy Duck...W.C Fields?

The spurious claims that American right wing "libertarians" somehow "think" for themselves are accepted only by their ideological compatriots.

So I will "knock " them as much as I like thank you.

Actually, George Carlin was a comedian who's remit was to make people laugh , something he was good at.

His parodying of popular beliefs and opinions was what made him famous. Humorous takes on current affairs , that is all.

To assume he was a serious contributor to anything is in itself commical.

I always say to the wife ,if there is a God he watches  you ,because as soon as you wash the car it bloody rains.

I can say that he watches me more than anyone else on the planet.

It has been pretty dry here for a while and we were having our drive repaired 5 days ago.  As soon as the CPAC cement truck turned up and started to pour 3500 bahts worth of cement mix the skys opened and an absolute deluge of water fell for 30 minutes.

He must have bust a gut laughing.

  6. Anyone needs rain pm me.

For a modest fee to cover expenses etc I will come to your address , wash and wax my car, buff up the tyre sidewalls, and hoover the interior.

On completion of above I can guarantee heavy rain and muddy roads within 24 hours.

Caveat, you will be required to sign a disclaimer exonerating me of any liability should local flooding occur.

anyone else had an experience like this for me its a first and i bloody didn't like it

Yes. We checked into a Bangkok hotel we had never used before.

Our usual hotel just gives us the key and a wai and thats all because we are such frequent guests.

But with this new hotel we were given the third degree and had to prove that neither of us had left the country recently.

Wife nearly lost it but the guy was polite and apologetic so she managed to hold it together.

as long as they are polite it doesn't bother me.
