  1. Same here. Within the login.asp file is an error message:

Sorry, you cannot do this transaction at the moment. Please try again later

If you have any questions or need assistance, Please call 02 777 7777 to contact SCB Easy Call Center.

Busted - hopefully they fix soon.

    Thanks guys.

Hope they sort it out soon - I have bills to pay! But yeah, typical for it to break on a Friday afternoon....

  2. Hi guys,

All of a sudden I can't log in to my SCB online banking. I go to the normal login page, enter my username and password and hit "login". Then normally you are in. But now when I do that it just downloads a file in my browser called LOGIN.ASP which I can't open. Why is it doing this? Is anyone else having this problem?

I am on OSX 10.9.5 and I've tried in both Safari and Chrome. Same thing happens.

    Thanks for any insight.

  3. Came on 26th Abu Dhabi Bangkok with Etihad and plane a little over half full..first time I have ever traveled Etihad in 15years and flight not been pretty well full

Nice hotel I always stay in Bangkok had 6 rooms on 4 floors(40plus rooms ) occupied.

Met a friend who flew in with Thai from London and every one had 3/4 seats to lie on..plane empty

I flew back from London and Dubai recently on the Emirates A380. Business class was about 10% full. The stewards said this flight used to always always be full (or very busy) to Bangkok. They said economy had more than 200 empty seats too.

    It's definitely noticeably quieter.

  4. "We feel like we are not safe as there are no people to help us," a Burmese worker named Soe Min Htet told the Irrawaddy. "Here, our citizens are vulnerable to unfair treatment and are always looked down upon."

Welcome to Thailand. Now you know how we 'rich' farang feel.

Are you serious? A bit of double charging in national parks, an occasional taxi who won't use the meter. Are you seriously comparing that to how Burmese are treated here?

  5. BREAKING NEWS

Koh Tao police offers one million baht cash if evidence proves they are implicated in abuse of Burmese suspects

So the KT police feel as confident as the Poo yai challenging anyone to find they are implicated in anything ?

Exceedingly arrogant and seems to be a new trend here...

It also means there is more money in rewards to find a wrongdoing in either the police or an influential family than there is to find or catch the murderers.... how sick is that ? bah.gif

    Pathetic.

Incorrect. I think you'll find that J Bradley just "hilariously" posted in big letters to make it look like a real news story. It isn't. My gosh he's such a wag.

  6. <script type='text/javascript'>window.mod_pagespeed_start = Number(new Date());</script>

Someone needs to learn about biometrics and facial recognition software.

And someone needs to learn that the capabilities of real world facial recognition software falls far short of the fantasy variant in use in Hollywood.

The only 100% way to ensure re-entry into the Kingdom following blacklisting etc relies on good old corruption.

Chap I know got busted in an office in Thonglor without work permit. Along with about 6 others, he was bundled into court, convicted, blacklisted and on a plane back to Europe in 24 hours flat.

Paid THB250,000 of which 150K took care of the court records, 50K sorted the immigration officer who deleted the mark on the database; which left 50K for the "broker" fee.

In the 18 months since he was busted, he's been back 3 times on tourist visas to see his girlfriend. No one's said a single word to him.

Good oh. I hope his boiler room is doing well.

  7. It's Thailand's answer to stopping school kids buying alcohol when they are supposed to be at school. Of course there is no similar ban on tobacco sales for some reason.

What is grossly more aggravating is when you are half way through a meal and are told - sorry it's past 2pm and you are sitting there with your wife trying to enjoy a leisurely lunch and having consumed one drink already.

Then lots if things don't make much sense in Thailand so it's sort of par for the course really

Where are you eating this meal ?

    7/11 - Tescos - Big C ?

All restaurants and bars sell alcohol between these times

Sent from my GT-N7100 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

No they don't - you are utterly wrong. In Bangkok at least I'd say the majority of restaurants don't serve you after 2pm. Some do, but many many don't. Of course small local restaurants tend to turn a blind eye. Even the House of Beers (Thonglor) - which is clearly a bar but could also come under the restaurant banner - has been told by the police they can't serve alcohol between 2pm and 5pm and they now don't. Which is shit if you want to have a nice leisurely Sunday afternoon beer as I used to enjoy.

  8. it's not an actual law, if it were Villa Market would not be selling all hours. Foodland used to but stopped. Had a similar thing the other day at max value cashier said it was five minutes to 11 and gave beer to the security man to put back on the shelf. I took it off him, she said 3 minutes, I went round and looked at the time on the till and it was 11!, idiots.

Villa has always been a safe bet for afternoon sales but when I was in there the other day they now display signs in the booze section stating booze, by law, can only be sold between 11am and 2pm and 5pm and midnight - they never used to have these signs - and all the wine girls are nowhere to be seen during that time. Thankfully they still let you buy but for how much longer I don't know.

  9. Not quite sure how you would translate "douchebag" or "you ahole " into Japanese, neither words exist as an insult..... You of course could literally translate ahole Or Kommon no anna as it would be, but it would not really be an insult. Would be interested in seeing the translations.

Calling somebody the stinky hole that feces get ejaculated from would not be an insult? I actually thought there was a few Japanese words that covered this orifice when it came to insults.

You ejaculate feces? I think there's something wrong with your plumbing.

  10. Max speeds on the ARL are being reduced to 120km/h from 160 km/h due to the major overhaul that needs to be undertaken on all of the rolling stock and the fact that there is still a spare parts shortage. The major overhaul that is being progressively undertaken on all of the stock will replace brake parts, boogies, shock absorbers and other parts.

    The rolling stock is past 1 million km mark where the first major overhaul is recommended by Siemens. These figures from the end of May show the kms of each train;

    1. City Line 1: 1,198,052 km

    2. City Line 2: 1,168,783 km

    3. City Line 3: 1,184,114 km

    4. City Line 4: 1,137,118 km

    5. City Line 5: 1,179,219 km

    6. Express Line 1: 1,265,818 km

    7. Express Line 2: 468,232 km

    8. Express Line 3: 1,275,792 km

    9. Express Line 4: 1,239,796 km

If the the overhauls are not completed prior to rolling stock reaching the 1.32m km mark, then services may have to be reduced further while extra rolling stock is taken out of service due to the risk of major damage to the rolling stock. Each overhaul should take between 4-6 weeks.

In other news, the connection of the City Line and Express Line tracks is finally closer to starting after the money (300m baht) was allocated back in 2012 . As previously stated, rectifying this design flaw will allow one Express service with a stop at Makkasan.

So this is not a good development then:

    Moved to swampy forum.

    Terminal map here: http://www.suvarnabhumiairport.com/en/124-within-the-terminal

So what is the answer to the question? I still don't know

No, there are no ATM's "airside" apart from one foreign currency SCB one that is absolutely useless unless you have a foreign currency account at SCB which just about nobody does.  It's always mystified me as to why there aren't any.  Does anyone know?

The SCB ATM accepts any SCB card and foreign cards, pays out EUR/GBP/USD.

Ok, that's interesting - thanks.  I thought the sign above the machine said something like "only for SCB foreign currency account holders".  If it also accepts local cards I stand corrected.

None of the airports I use has ATMs airside so I wonder why you expect them?

Well that's very strange because nearly all the airports I use have them airside, so, er........that's why I expect them.

  13. Flip side can't imagine a legit good Thai lady would want a Farang covered in tattoos....currently in Tesco Lotus and I must be about the only Farang in the store without a tattoo....most are sporting Thai multiple tats......looking at them am glad I am not one of them....we must look like a herd of trashy white kwai to the average good hard working Thai....side note walking around - out of 200+ Thais or more not 1 visible tat....

You're actually reading and posting on ThaiVisa whilst out doing your shopping.

Even reading and posting here when I have absolutely nothing else to do makes me feel like a bit of a loser but, sheesh......

  14. Choosing the needs of children's education over parents desire to be in Thailand is almost always the right decision.

Even the very best international schools in Thailand barely hold up against the better state schools in the UK, not simply on the grounds of educational standards, but also on a range of social and personal development issues too.

That's OK for now, but the way the UK is going, and by the time the children are adults, the country will be well on the way to being under the control of people of a certain faith.

If Thailand can just sort a few things out with the help of the general, the country can get better. At least the Thais look after their own first, something the UK have never done.

It's just a pity that the education is so poor here. I think that is about the only thing the UK have ahead of Thailand. also, the corruption is even worse from the UK government than it was in Thailand.

No mention made of the right to own your own property in your own name.

No mention made of the welfare state or National Health Service.

No mention made of not losing pension increases caused by not living in the UK.

Many on here like to knock the UK (I have knocked it myself at times), but the bottom line, its always available as a last resort when back up plans A, B and C have gone tits up.

You make good points, no country is perfect, If something happened that would force me to leave Thailand, there is no way I would ever go back to stay in the UK, I went back for three months during the floods, and the place was crowded out by emigrants, they have taken the place over, and the streets are not safe. Maybe I would move to Cambodia, and could always go the Thailand from time to time to see my wife.

But I don't think that will ever happen, but that would probably be my plan B.

Do you realise the utter hypocrisy of what you are saying? Probably not, that's the sad thing.

"I'll never go back to the UK because of all the immigrants (or "emigrants"), but I'll live here. Or Cambodia." Pretty sad, honestly very sad.

  15. Can't believe people moaning about transfer between the two airports. Using the free bus that leaves at 30 minute intervals is much easier than a long stop-over waiting for a connecting flight.

But you are NOT allowed to use the shuttle returning from a flight.

I used it for the first time in years last week. It reminded me of what an awful place it was and why I always disliked it. Old design, terrible check-in, parking was just a total nightmare. Granted once you've got through immigration it's not too bad with places to eat and drink but overall it is still a dump just as it used to be.

  16. Seconded - likely no problem. The place I manage employs foreigners, and all we have to do is show that they have skills and experience that is of value and hard to find locally. I've never heard of a WP application being declined because the applicant did not have a degree.

The only caveat here would be that, in Thailand, officials tend to enforce different requirements and interpret the rules in different ways. What happens at one government office may not be the same as another.

Our company (a BOI company) recently employed a Canadian as a Chief Technical Officer / Chief Engineer. He is in his 50's and he's worked in that position for the last 25 years and has references, an amazing CV, he ticks all the boxes. The WP was refused as we did not submit any educational documents of his. We then went back with a high school diploma and he was immediately issued a two year WP.

Pretty crazy really and completely illogical.

  17. Samed Villa.

I used to swear by Samet Villa as it's a pretty resort on/near a nice beach and I've stayed there many many times over the years. But I won't stay there anymore as I think the area has gone really downhill. Last time I stayed there my tap water was brown and putrid. Then there is the stagnant cess pit next door and the channel allowing/releasing stinking water into the sea. It really does stink. In fact all the beaches along this stretch have these stinking outlets into the ocean and it is disgusting. I just find the whole place quite dirty now.

I don't know if other beaches on Samet have this problem. It's such a shame as the sand is beautiful and the water is beautiful......as long as you are well away form the stinky bits because those areas really are unpleasant.

correct XBMC has it all ..

Well, yes. Basically this box runs XBMC and everything is free. I got it delivered this morning. The main subscription package for extra channels and live sports (if you want it) comes through NTV (http://www.ntv.mx).

Basically, you could do it yourself through your computer, but the box just comes pre-loaded with everything and - for me - just makes everything easier as you have a remote etc. I have no regrets about spending the money (so far).
