  1. Sleeping in a parked vehicle ( not well clear) of a highway is a very dangerous thing to do.

American skier and mountaineer Steve Mckinney was killed this way in 1990. There ARE accidents, and if there is nothing one can do to

avoid it, driving sober and at a safe speed there should not be any cause for charges to be laid.

Maybe that is not the Thai way of doing things but in this case it just seems very typical that a proper post accident assessment and investigation was not taken up

and lacks transparency just because the driver in question has money and is some low level celebrity.

  2. It makes me laugh that the only bad thing that people can come up with about the Philippines is how terrible the food is,I've lived in Phuket and all the seafood restaurants there in Patong BBQ their Tiger Prawns and Lobster well guess what, they can throw the same seafood on a BBQ for you in the Philippines also! And do you eat out for every single meal you have in Thailand,or do you cook at home for most of your main meals well guess what? You can also cook at home in the Phils and even buy some Thai red or green curry sauce, coconut milk and make your own Thai food.

There is a chain of Thai restaurants called Krua Thai in Cebu there are branches at SM Mall near the port and I used to visit the one in Crossroads Mall,Banilad and it's excellent. My friend's Thai wife used to write down in Thai what she wanted the chef to cook for her and her did it no problem, the Tom Yam Koong was as good and authentic as any Thai restaurant in Thailand and the owner, cook and half of the waiting staff were genuine Thais.I used to pay 70 Philippine Pesos for a small bottle of ice-cold Singha beer, which is around 50 Thai Baht so it was actually cheaper than buying beer anywhere I know of in Thailand for Thai beer!

If you're in Manila then the People's Palace in Makati is one of the best Thai restaurants you will ever visit,it's absolute nonsense to say the food in the Philippines is no good as it's just as good as food anywhere else in South-East Asia,it's just a one-size-fits-all excuse wheeled out by idiots and know-it-alls that have never been there but who cares,it's their loss not mine?

Fundamental problem is they use some kind of foul cooking oil, it's odour wafting from almost every kitchen and food-cart in the country.

It has a rancid smell and makes me gag, literally sick to my stomach to eat anything cooked in it.

I have not been to a country where walking around in a upscale shopping Mall everything in the food court looks so unappetizing I ended up in a

Vietnamese restaurant. Even people who have a little money there now seem to want to keep eating pig offal and fried ground up fat because they grew

    to like it.

  3. I would ban him for life from the Thai Lambo club and the CEO of Lamborghini should declare him persona non grata. His vehicle a discrace, fiance not so bad.

Now you've got me thinking. Did he start out with a potential fiancée, and end with a fiancé? Because she looks very feminine.

I know you guys like her but I fnd that kind of girl to be grossly unattractive. Not my cup of tea, so to speak.

  4. She should have 'manned up' and done some time, it might have done her career and self-esteem some good. Instead, she has to live with these cringe-making photos of her face in the dirt, and blubbing her eyes out, for the rest of her life.

In most countries when one is guilty of reckless /intoxicated driving causing death the State comes after you with criminal charges that likely attract a custodial sentence. No easy way out for rich or connected, it's up to lawyers and the courts.

Whatever the family gets in court from civil damages is a separate issue.

  5. I had no idea the General was a mate of that waffling fool Malcolm Turnbull.

I have been watching 'The Innovators' on the History Channel lately. Carnegie, J P Morgan, Edison, Rockerfella, Ford, etc.

Can't wait to see the Thai version.

Thailand notwithstanding, and surprising though it might be, there have been, and are, innumerable innovators from far beyond the borders of the U.S.

Don't I know it mate! I am from the Great Southern Land!

Did you know we invented the Wine Cask! (aka Chateau Cardboard)

    Now THAT'S innovation!

Coconut scrapers look the same all over the tropics.

  6. I wonder if they shaved their balls ?

That is relevant in what way?
Totally irrelevant. From what I read plenty of straights are shaving their scrotums, and in pure numbers way more hereros are having anal sex than the Gay world , there is data on this going back to Masters and Johnson.

Still we have to endure all this snickering infantile rubbish thanks to homophobia and subtle bigotry.

  7. Why does one hardly see Tow trucks in Thailand (auto wreckers)? Can't believe I endorse this but perhaps local governments should contract with private companies to keep the streets and bike lanes clear of parking violators. (Sis once popped into a bakery in Santa Monica. 5 minutes vehicle gone BTW. Cost her a bundle...)

Increase revenue and share profits from heavy fynes and impound tariffs.

  8. I wonder is there anyone out there who can name a single pure Thai innovation? (except Thainess)

    Kind of an exotic list

    Thai measurements system

    Thai calendar

    Muay Thai martial arts

    MMA voting system

    Khimm musical instrument

    formula for Red Bull

    Water pond aeration machine

Certainly nothing one would expect from a developing country with the exception maybe of Red Bull.

Sorry Khim is a common type of instrument said to have come to Thailand from China. Same as Persian "Santur" and Indo/Pak "Santoor" , and ancient and widespread type instrument instrument probably since ancient Babylon or Greece.

  9. You could get a bike box. Much better protection and you will sign a damage waiver anyway.

Most shops give boxes away for free, will pack for small charge. One guy I know "rolled on" a road bike for years on widebodies with no problems. It finally got crushed, no compensation.

  10. Every climber in the world knows they climb "at their own risk". Managing risk is an important element of maturing in the sport.

There has always been conflict between trad and sport climbers but from what I saw at Railey the routes benefit from cleaning and maintenance to stay safe.

Park officials need to develop fair mixed use policies but outdoor enthusiasts are the best promotors of the environment and the beaches are cleaner because of them.

If the NP officials want pristine wilderness they should ban everything but self-sufficient camping and drive out ALL the businesses.

  12. Great airport for early check-in and avoiding long lines.

One can walk across carpark to Thai restaurant or the Seafood place with the airplane in back.

Even go to the Mall if so inclined.

  13. Ha Lan baht, who cares? Just for show probably goes back in Tony's pocket. How many married some frump from Bradford and got on the hook for 10 times more? (Just because his dependents happened to tumble out of her fanny). How many thousands of village weddings like this every year, a Farnung and some local girl, some of them hardcore prostitutes, and nobody bats an eyelash. A tabloid story followed by the typical bigotry and homophobia. Marriage is marriage, most of it a mistake.

Best of luck to the new couple.
