  1. Let me see if this clears it up. Thank you, Please let me try to explain I did this step when I came to Thailand with my marriage cert from usa I got a affidavit at the usa embassy done got it translated then sent to MFA but on this marriage certificate it only had a application number which is what I wrote on the affidavit as it was the only number on the certificate and took all this to my local amphur for the kor ror 22. This time Immigration wanted a translated copy of the actual marriage certificate stamped by the MFA done, and the way to do that is to get it legalized from the USA department of state and the THAI embassy in Wash dc I did that step to but this where it gets messed up. The new copy of my marriage certificate that came from the bureau of vital statistics had a state file number on it and not a application number which I first used at amphur so after getting a translated copy of the one with the state file number on and getting it stamped at the MFA. Immigration said that the numbers dont match on the kor ror 22 which is true and they wanted amphur to update the number and amphur said no they cant change the number because once it is recorded in the system it cant be changed, I hope this makes since and if you have any suggestions to please help me. Thank you
  2. Can a lawyer go on your behalf to the embassy to get the affidavit done. I live pretty far from Bangkok or Chiang Mai. Thank you
  3. Best to just hire a law firm and be done with it. They have a lot of contacts on the inside and get more done than some nobody like me.
  4. I am not sure will have to research that. The only issue will be one day my child wont be a child anymore and will be an adult.
  5. So you can get married in Thailand get a Thai marriage certificate go to local Amphur and get a Kor Ror 3 instead of the Kor Ror 22 that I have now and that would better to use at the Thai immigration then my USA marriage certificate and Kor Ror 22? Thank you
  6. Does anyone know when you write the affidavit letter at the USA embassy to be true and correct and get it stamped if you also have to show the document to the embassy that you are writing about example you state name wife name and date and marriage number, Do you also need to show them the marriage certificate? Thank you
  7. I am not sure I have a Usa marriage certificate registered at my local amphur and have been to my local immigration office for 3 years. How can you not bother telling them let alone all info is on computers and paper backup stored in books. No disrespect but I prefer to follow proper law. Thank you
  8. So you are saying that even though I already got married in USA, I can get remarried here in Thailand then start taking the Thai marriage certificate to immigration every year for my renew?
  9. Just went for my 3rd year renewal and once again had issues but I finally after going back and forth for a week got my 30 under consideration stamp. I am really considering getting a law firm to help me going forward. Here is my issue and it starts with when I first came to Thailand I brought my marriage certificate from the courthouse where we got married in the USA and then I went to the USA embassy in Bangkok to do an affidavit saying my statement was true and listed the application number from the marriage cert had the affidavit only translated because that is all the usa embassy would stamp then sent to the Thai MFA in Bangkok to be stamped. Then I took that document to my local amphur office to register and get the kor ror 22. Keep in mind the marriage cert was not translated yet or stamped by the Thai MFA. So I decided to order a copy of my marriage cert from the bureau of vital statistics and hired a firm to legalize the doc in the Usa which was done but the State file number did not match the number on the certificate I from the courthouse the application number which I used at the USA embassy in Bangkok is not listed anywhere on the copy I got from the bureau of vital stat all the information correct but the file number is different for some reason when it came from that department from Florida. So this time after having problems with immigration about not having a stamped translated copy om marriage cert I showed them the marriage cert that was legalized from the USA Department of state and The Thai embassy in the USA. But my local immigration wanted a translated Thai copy of everything from the USA so I went to the consular office in UBON and got the translated legalized document stamped then went back to immigration and they said that the marriage certificate numbers did not match and I explained that one came from the courthouse and one came from a different department from the state and said the kor ror 22 had to match the legalized copy so we went to amphur to get the kor ror 22 changed and amphur said they could not change it because once it it done it is done forever. However they put an extra paragraph on an additional page listing the other certificate number and the local immigration said ok and gave me my 30 day stamp. I just worry next year a different IO will see the two different numbers again and will raise a stink? Do I need to get the one legalized if it can be done that matches the kor ror 22 or can that even be done? I am tired of fighting every year. I have been married for over 13 years and have a 8 year old daughter with my wife and worry one day I will not be able to keep on getting my non o based on marriage anymore. Would a visa lawyer be able to resolve all this? I am open to any suggestions. Thank you
  10. I would like to be clear I am on my 3rd year of extension of stay based on marriage and might not have my documents ready in time for my 12 month renew date, So the 60 day covid stamp will allow me to reapply for another 12 month extension of stay based on marriage after the first 30 days of the covid 60 day while not leaving the country. Thank you
  11. I might be in a situation on timing of a document that is needed by my local immigration office. They want a translated copy in Thai of my English marriage certificate which I am getting, But the catch is that is that the Thai ministry of foreign affairs states on there website that you must have at least 10 business days left on your stamp that is expiring in your passport for them to stamp the translated copy of the marriage certificate which might be not possible. So if I show up to immigration on the day my visa expires and that give me a 60 day covid stamp. Does that mean I have to start my non-o visa application all over again and leave the country once the borders are back open? My money is well seasoned in the bank so no problem there. Thank you
  12. Just to follow up on this topic, Has anyone heard of this? In addition when we went to the Thai consular office we were told that from the time the department of state in USA and the Thai embassy in USA legalizes your document that you only have 6 months to get it stamped from there office as that document would be expired! We getting the marriage certificate translated in Thai then will get it stamped at the consular office by Thai the ministry of foreign affairs as the local immigration is requesting. Luckily the consular gave us a break and stamped the already legalized document today from the USA but have to wait a few more days to once again and go get the translated copy stamped. Thank you
  13. How is immigration currently handling the people on non o visas that can no longer do border runs every 90 days due to the country being locked down? Thank you
  14. I went to day at my immigration office and got turned down for renewal have already done it for 3 years now. They wanted a certified translated in Thai marriage certificate. I went with my kor ror 22 and a copy of marriage certificate in addition I had a legalized original from the Usa department of state and stamped from the Thai Embassy in USA. But all that and still no they want it translated in Thai with a stamp from the Thai foreign affairs office.
  15. Thank you I am USA citizen I am pretty sure that I can do at Savannakhet Laos (USA embassy) if need be after this whole Covid mess goes away.
  16. Could this be done staying in Thailand not leaving? and Can you please refresh my memory on the requirement's needed to apply for the non o multi entry? Thank you
  17. Question I have a non-o visa yearly extended based on marriage and I keep the 400k thai baht in a bank account for proof of funds. Lets assume that under normal conditions saying all the covid <deleted> goes away. What would would happen if I could not meet the 400k thai baht in bank funds upon the yearly renewal? Could I just get a new non-o multi entry and start doing 90 day visa runs? What would be the new requirements for doing this if needed? Thank you
  18. Hello, Does anyone know if a USA life insurance company would payout a death benefit via Bangkok Bank branch of New York then funds transferred via Thailand? How do life insurance company's send out payment? I am wondering for my wife and family because in the future that I might not be around and hoping the insurance company does not put a stamp on an envelope and hope it gets there with no sort of tracking?
