Twenty year old aircraft are by no means 'old' but there are more economical options other than four engined varieties.
The article opened with 800 planes..usual inaccurate aviation reporting

Ah....the Chinese knocking brigade will always be out in some force they are entitled of course
What they need to take into account Is the amount of revenue that the Chinese guests generate
directly and indirectly through just being in the countryBy encouraging them and other Asian nationalities to visit Thailand (when the time is right) will benefit all visitors and expats in the longer term. The UAE is a prime example

Not caring about Covid-19 is a pretty rash attitude to adopt even in jest. It's also about the people you come into contact with

No country that I know of is good for old men. Get past 60 and nobody in authority gives a toss if you live or die.
I went back to work in a well known Middle East country at the age of 60. No probs getting a work and residence visa, on top of a fully expenses car and luxury apartment. Sponsor welcomed me with open arms and was not the first company In my career to give preference to significant experience over a degree. I stayed for 9 years and voluntarily retired. OK Thailand is vastly different but the point being there still exist ‘good’ places in the world to work, live and even retire to

Retired now so no review meetings with the Chairman, presentations with prospective customers etc., hair way down (pun) on my list of priorities. So time to upgrade the Porsche and renew my pilot licence. Chill out and keep those cancer cells at bay

It buried Priti Patel’s bad news and seems to have saved her job

OP is right - there are many benefits from the new panic.
EG: it's weeks now since anyone heard from little Greta Thunberg.
Let's have more suggestions for why The Virus might be a Good Thing.

Surely common sense dictates that Condo or not a swimming pool is a gathering place (not unlike a bar) therefore it makes sense that it should close. Or is that statement illogical?

Am in the UK sitting in the sun on my patio
Itching to go for a burn in the 911 Carrera waiting patiently for me in the garage. A Porker needs to be driven...and fast
Hope all TV’s are well and will remain so. Take care!

It would be an irresponsible thing to do to turn up at a hospital in present circumstances. You risk passing on the virus to innocent people there. The advise in the UK and probably other countries also is to isolate yourself immediately, before doing so however you are advised to make your condition known (UK dial 111).
No idea if such a process exists in Thailand but absolutely do not wonder in to a public hospital seeking assistance. There must be guidelines published by the Thai authorities

The likely consequence of unemployment is petty crime so keep A close eye on your cash, passport etc.

Booked to visit Pattaya and Ao Nang from the UK commencing 12 Feb, duration 24 days (BKK for a few days at the end). I have scoured TV but little written so far on by the expat community; I guess too early.
What are the realistic concerns being voiced by expats and tourists at this early stage? e.g the word in the street and bars? Sit it out or postpone travel to LOS?

Your assertion that nobody in the UK has sufficient funds to fly to Thailand is wide of the mark. Where precisely is your evidence of this stupid comment?
