I spend nearly as much time in malls as most expats I observe spend in bars. I like the idea of being able to wonder around in relatively clean air and surroundings; commodities that are pretty rare these days. However, there's no point critizing others who wish to follow their own lifestyles because with maturity and wisdom one cares little about what others think. Each to his own.

Is the OP a man or a mouse? 'No' is a pretty unambiguous word to use anywhere in the world...better still lay back and enjoy it

I posted here before saying my gp found Haemolytic Strep in my urine, and I was given antibiotics for 10 days, turns out the GPs are not sure if the bacteria was found in my urine or urethral swab, anyway the antibiotics didn't do anything and I'm still having discomfort around my groin area, above my pubic bone, like an annoying ache or soreness, not extreme pain. I sometimes get pain while urinating but I have not noticed any blood in my urine. the other day I had a sharp pain in my penis on and off, only lasted a couple of minutes then went away. I am also feeling the need to urinate after urinating, mainly at night when I go to bed. I'll pee, go back to bed, then feel the need to pee again.
From my memory this started after having sex back in June in Pattaya, I wore a condom, but I have had HIV, swab and urine tests in September and its all negative, I also have tingling sensations on my testicles and perineum sometimes, it comes and goes. I am not sure what it is yet, saw my GP 2 days ago and she she has asked for another urine test and a stool test, and asked me to measure my water intake and how much I pee out, she will refer me to a Urologist but its like 3-4 month waiting time here in England.
At the moment I think it could be Candida/yeast overgrowth infection or parasites, when I saw a doc in bkk christian hospital about it he done urine test and said it was over active bladder, put me on some pills, but they didn't do anything. Just starting to worry about cancer ...I'm only 25 years old, skinny guy thats been mostly vegan/vegetarian for the last 3 years.
All cancer or suspected cancer sufferers are fast tracked in the Government initiative. I had a biopsy in Dubai which was positive (melanoma) and within 10 days of seeing my GP in the UK had an appointment with Plastics and within a fortnight I was having a wider excision which showed the tumour had been removed during the biopsy. Follow ups with oncology on the nail every 3 months at James Cook Middlesbrough. Excellent service NHS, so far so good

Hoolahooping, my wife hoolahoops and exercises every evening when the kids are in bed, wiggling her firm butt in my face. This leads to me getting an erection and to finish her session off she rides me like Willy Carson romping home in the 4.40 at Rotherham, super annoying when I want to watch the news!
Seriously though if any of you are looking for a stocking filler this Christmas for the lady in your life buy her a hoolahoop.

To answer your question and to be brutally honest....because there are plenty of people out there who are willing to pay ridiculously high prices for top branded products and manufacturers know this, simples.

The beach is probably as filthy as the Thames so if they get rid of all the nightlife venues what are people going to go to Pattaya for?

I guess the moral is don't scrimp on a haircut if it is that important to you to get the one you want. When in doubt go to a 5* hotel, pay through the nose for the full jobby from a trained hairdresser.

I saw that and had a laugh to myself about it. So they are bagging about the ugly sandbags that are falling apart at the north end of the beach. At the least those should be temporary, not left till they disintegrate and become even more unsightly.
Nothing I have seen along Beach Rd convinces me that they have any clue as to how to run a tourist resort town.
Perhaps I shouldn't complain. After all, the disgraceful condition of Pattaya is what keeps it from becoming over run with rich western tourists and other riff raff.
Oh dear another one of those tourist haters. If it wasn't for the tourists on which Pattaya was built such people would have to inflict themselves on the inhabitants of another city in Thailand. Best stay in Patts and be part of the riff raff. Enjoy

If that was a genuine response, then being a little kid should never be given as an excuse for bad behaviour in any culture

Ah the age thing. Late 60's slowing down a bit but still working full time, travelling extensively, flying aeroplanes, adequate money in the bank, many friends across the age spectrum, a little more sensitive to noisy I'll behaved children and loud music. Grumpy? Sometimes like anyone else but not always because of life's challenges. Are all these things exceptional in ones twilight years? Not at all. Younger people do not yet have the wisdom and, depending on upbringing, could make a little more effort in the respect category but all in all, most are decent and all will find out for themselves the importance of dignity in age. Life for this old fart is pretty good and there are many around just like him.

Never a need to request a landing in the case of an emergency, especially one affecting a power plant. Fly the aeroplane forget the radio at low level, Captain's decision

What is it about the age of 65 that brings apparent disrespect by others upon this ageing group of people on TV? I first experienced Bangkok and Pattaya in my relative youth and more than 30 years later still visit these places, accompanied, still working full time with money to spend. To those who hold a disrespecting regard for those in this age group who decide to visit Pattaya, bear in mind that they have a right to be there and are capable of enjoyment and happiness beyond imagination. When you see a silver haired upright guy striding healthily along walking street in a couple of weeks time. It could be me, say hello and I'll be happy to buy you a drink and I promise not to bore you with stories of a fantastic life of a 65 year old with lots more to come.

What would a blood test prove in this context?

Right that does it. I am so depressed and may never visit Patts again. Famous last words.

Still trying to work out the relevance of the OP showing money to the cop (???)

Tours for both - 4,000 baht, 2 meals (assuming breaky at hotel), another 1,000 baht, evening entertainment (drinks) another 1,000 baht. Almost 10,000 baht right there with hotel cost never mind any taxi costs.Tutti 10.000 Baht per day for normal stay.
Tutti 20.000 Baht per day for a more luxury stay.
Tutti = hotel, transport, tours , food, fun,......
10,000 a day !! For me and Partner hotel is 1290 Baht a night. Where are we going to spend the balance for a normal day let alone at 20,000 Baht day !
Yes, but it's not every day the spend is so high. Relaxation time (after all it is a holiday, right?) at the beach or around the pool is considerably less.

Decent place to stay plus max 5,000 spending pd say a total of 8k. Travelling with a partner I have never spent more than that in 30 odd years of living and visiting LOS even when travelling solo and on company expenses ( good old days), no street food or booze these days but always 3-4 star hotel B&B, 8k pd does us fine averaged out. Don't be too analytical otherwise you'll end up not going at all.

What do you mean "only"? You probably have more skill set than most people with degrees. That's certainly my experience of many years of hiring. Don't do yourself down.

The lousy air quality in Hong Kong drove me away from the place several years ago after just two months. Strange how expatriates don't give it a thought until it comes back to haunt their health and their children's years later. By then it's too late, hard to avoid though unless you you go elsewhere to work or live.
stop whining and enjoy your only paradise

That's a pretty accurate statement, certainly applied to my last 30 years or so as an expat. Looking at the calendar and the next pay cheque makes it all worthwhile.
