  1. If I may also jump in on this thread and mention that the 60 day extension can only be used one time per entry. A couple of years ago I was under the impression that it could be used as many times as you liked as long as there was a least one full year extension between 60 day extensions.

Which proved what I knew ( sweet Fanny Adams) and involved a run to Vientiane to get a new 3 month visa after about 16 years of back to back annual extensions.

Don't want to see anybody caught out like me.

  2. Just to clarify I've never submitted a TM 30 form in 18 years here ( my bad) so when I do my marriage extension at Khon Kaen in a couple of weeks should I take a completed one with extra copies of my wife's ID and tabien ban, hand it in if they ask for it and suck it up and pay a fine?

    Cheers.

  3. The idea is you get huge discounts on products. Not a scam unless it suckers you into buying something you don't need just because it's 'on sale' - in which case you just didn't have discipline.

Exactly. Err..does anybody want to buy a matching pair of llamas? Cheap to a good home.

  4. I'm extending my permission to stay through marriage next month. Would it be prudent to also fill in a TM 30 and hand it in at the same time?

Whether you would complete the form would depend upon whose name is on a house book or rental agreement.

You could have one completed in case they ask for it. But I would not hand it over unless asked.

It's my wife's name on the house book as she owns it. To be honest I've never filled in a TM 30 in 18 years and 16 years of marriage and the last time I reenteredThailand was 3 years ago after a family trip with her and y daughter back to the UK. Will she be hit for a fine for not reporting me coming back to our home 3 years ago if they do ask where the TM 30 is or will they just accept the TM 30 which I hand them if they ask for it? This is Khon Kaen immi if anyone has any experience there.

  5. About 15 years ago I had a songtaew driver let me off the fare because I'd forgotten my wallet but " happened daily" is stretching it a bit.

Update. My friend Andrew was stopped for speeding at an upcountry police roadblock and after being politely informed that the rules for speeding were quite strict in Thailand the cops had a whip round and gave him 5000 baht to buy a GPS which could monitor his speed accurately so as to avoid a similar situation in the future plus 5 complimentary tickets to the Policeman's Ball.

  6. They love talking about the English premier league all 5 teams Liverpool,Man Utd,Chelsea,Arsenal and Man City.

They haven't a clue who and where West Brom play.

I was in the back of a tuk tuk in Khon Kaen years ago and the old boy driving asked where I was from. I answered England and after more prodding said Norwich. Thinking I'd get a blank look he said " Ah Kevin Keelan." I nearly fell out of the bloody tuk tuk.

  7. From a personal perspective.

Mandatory bum guns in all toilets

Banning security guards from carrying whistles

Paying a hardship allowance for basic essential items such as imported cold cuts, pate and cheese

Set up a monitoring agency to ensure that restaurants offering American or full English breakfasts offer a product that doesn't consist of a fried egg, a slice of processed ham, a hot dog sausage and a piece of cold toast and make it a legal requirement for English brekkies to have black pudding and Cumberland or Lincolnshire sossies as a bare minimum.

  8. Yes. I've been around here for quite a few years and have worked in the school system for the past 18 years. There was a time when I was the tallest person in the upper grade school. Over the years, this has changed drastically. Kids are now a lot taller than 15 years ago.

I have to agree. I'm 6 foot 1 and when I came here nearly 2 decades ago it felt as if I towered over people. Now even though I'm still taller than most it seems quite a few younger people are either as tall as me or not far off.

  10. Waiting in anticipation for the TV school of Aviation resident aircrash investigation experts to give us the benefit of their knowlege while perched on their bar stools in Nana thumbsup.gif

Soulpeel mate after a cursory glance at the crash photo it's clear to even a layman that the flange inducer separated from the main rotating capacitor causing the induction shaft to fail leading to an inverse reaction in the pulminary bearing assembly. I should know. I watched every episode of The Whirlybirds when I was a lad.
