  1. Interesting.

I have heard that they are installing CCTV at the entrances but they will be keeping the "security" guards, certainly the night patrols.

The cleaning of the roadway in front of one's property has been the responsibility of the householders for some time now, the general cleaning of fallen leaves etc not outside residences is still done by the estate.

Yes, the owner is seeking to sell his property (for about 2 years now), no he is not moving out of the estate. It is simply that the house is far too big for just him and his wife and he has used other accommodation for some time now.

So before we organise a petition and decide on what colour of shirts would be appropriate for the protesters perhaps check the sources and confirm exactly what is happening?

I hope you are correct. I live opposite one of the guard shacks and speak daily. The security guards don't know anything about it according to the wife.

  2. One will generally find that the expat who retires to Thailand with a wedge of money is the most satisfied person as he can live the good life without having to worry about the small stuff.

On the other hand one will find that the people who come here to make there living are in general the ones who end up regretting there decision and find fault with every thing concerning Thailand .

I offer up this example. Who in there right mind would want to be in England at this time of year when one could be enjoying the fantastic weather in Thailand?

The OP regrets his decision to move here but fortunately many expats love Thailand.

Well put, I agree. Wedge of money makes the difference, work would be difficult.

  3. I have seen alot of those large satellite tv dishes which presumably free to air satelite tv would like to know if any satellite in thailand are capable of picking up tv programs like bbc, australian network channel or bloombeg

    thankyou

asia sat 3 picks up bloomberg, aljezzera and DW, the only english programming , all free to air.

  4. I am paying 3,000 Baht a month for TT&T's Maxnet Premier 3Mbps. It is supposedly shared between only 10 people. So why nearly every night does my international speed drop to less than 0.4Mbps? Is every other person online right now and downloading right now? Somehow I don't think so. In the morning the speed is great. Prime time and it is a joke. 3,000 Baht for 0.34Mbps???? Come on.

Is there anyone at TT&T who actually cares and can do something to resolve the problem? Do you have an email address for this person?

yea, me too. think they having problems as of late. Paying more don't mean more. typical window dressing of a service that isn't there. my speed has deteriorated the last week, and had dns problem

  5. In CM with max net premier.

as of ten days ago, had the dns page won't load BS. went to open dns, solved the problem. now the speed is down to a crawl. It could be from what I read they are doing the increased/doubling speed thing again. If I remember right, the last time they did that the entire system was screwed up for quite a while. I had constant drops at that time...anyway just a theroy.

  6. great story.Ive been here long enough to believe anything, especially something as shortsighted and stupid as that. that is pretty typical though, sad to say.

Ah well, what the hey. No matter what our personal experiences, there are always those who will deny them as I have experienced when voicing negative experiences with Loi Kroh Clinic and Top Charoen Optical at Central Plaza. Everyone has their off days including some of the local food establishments in CM but most are worth a second chance (and I gave them far more than their share before complaining on ThaiVisa), or be given the opportunity to explain, but simple denial of another's experience from someone who has no idea in the world is lame, whoppie.

So far I have not heard from Lamai but it has only been a couple of days. P&P came at me with prices that seem off the chart but I did mention that I prefer China Air or JAL and they are quoting almost as much as I paid in 07 for BKK-Honolulu-Denver-Boston-return, and that was when fuel prices were really high, and we are only looking to go to Honolulu this time. Over 40k Baht and by the time we add two r/t fares CNX-BKK and Honolulu to Maui, this is going to be a $3000US trip for flights alone!

    Ouch.. :o

Please read my reply again. I agreed with the poster...whoppie "" but simple denial of another's experience from someone who has no idea in the world is lame, whoppie.""??????

  7. Do any of you have an email or fax # for Lamai? I live out toward Hangdong and avoid going into town any more than necessary..

I also use lamai for years.....Kanjanas phone is 053--201-695, lamaitrvl [at] hotmail.com. it is directly across from chiang mai gate just down from the hospital about 100 meters, fax053201-566

  8. Recently i visited Ban Wang Tan for lunch at its restaurant & noticed a small clubhouse & a nice big swimming pool.

I wonder if the pool is open to public?

Alternatively, is there any pool open to the public in the Hang Dong area?

swim at your own risk, it is very dirty. there are better pools at baan nai fun and home in park, food is better.

  9. My 11 year old son goes to Varee and is very happy. I teach him english, so that really isn't an issue. The costs are just a little more expensive than some of the middle range thai schools and I believe it is worth it to spend a little extra if it just goes for smaller class sizes. The faculty seems organized and they stay in touch with the parents with regard to completion of assignments and homework. I used to teach in Chiang mai in various english programs and in all types of schools. At wachiwarat school they gave me a loud speaker and the class/chaos had maybe 60 kids in the room, needless to say that is a waste of time.My expectations are not too high with anything outside international schools. He loves it, that is what is important.
