I stopped going to National parks many many years ago, I objected to the ridiculous price for entry, if you did go in it was lacking facilities like toilets, it was dirty, it was just uncared for.

Why spend money going to what was basically a C***hole.

The trees keep on growing, the wildlife tries to be left alone, the seas go up and down.  What do the National Parks do that could make them lose money?

Some fences, parking, dodgy toilets and places to collect money that no-one is coming to.

Think some greedy people expected one billion baht and they won't be getting it.  So sad!

Whatever the failures and shortcomings of the military gov't, the fact that they nipped a criminal dynasty in the bud will always be a credit to them.

That said, let them pass on sooner rather than later. They've been in power long enough.

'the fact that they nipped a criminal dynasty in the bud....'

Some would say their role has been to support one.

And not just that. He bought out Tesco Lotus. Combine that with his ownership of the Central Group and well, what could be better than a monopoly situation in Thailand? And I'm sure the govt. agency that decided this was a good thing was arrived at fairly and rationally.

I believe Dhanin is CP Group and Central Group is a different company, albeit very similar backgrounds.  Central is the Chirativat family.  Big in hotels and owners of Family Mart.

Anyone who wants to be a politician here should be banned from being a politician.

    What a country.

There must be a solution, but the good guys seem to get into legal troubles before the games can begin.  And the bad guys have their sins forgiven.

Strange finding. It's OK because it's always been OK / others do the same.

So nothing ever need change on that basis.

Reality is that these four categories are "sales channels". Another example is cheap haircuts for OAPs. But this sales channel is based on race. That's not so good.

In practise, you can discuss price with the consultant and often a doctor will work at different hospitals, each  with different pricing for the same intervention.

'Reality is that these four categories are "sales channels".' Cape.

A lot about these four payment categories. I have felt before that there might be another one. When the hospital knows you are insured prices seem to rise. True?

    Genuinely interested.

  6. 'Teachers in Thailand are eligible for special loans from the Government Savings Bank without a credit check. One loan program, called the teacher’s funeral fund, makes up to 3 million Baht (90,000 USD) available to any teacher, even if their salary is the minimum 15,000B per month.'

Banks should not be making loans like this, if it is true. Please tell me it is not true.

PPRP barely won the majority in the previous election with a very slim margin difference of 10 seats. They were able to form the government by re-writing the election law which gave them and their allies many party-list seats. Now that the election laws are reverted back to the old method, the ruling party will face a reduction of party list seats from their coalition of 19 medium and small parties. The recent no confidence vote revealed that not all appointed senators will pull behind Prayut this time.

Internally PPRP is fracturing. Prayut is not a party member and Prawit as party leader may betray him this time. Thammanat is still Secretary general and highly influential in the party and I see him stabbing the back of Prayut again. Anyway, I don't see him staying long in the party as there are too much bad blood between them after the silent coup. All army parties in the political history of Thailand didn't last long and tend to disintegrate because of power struggle and conflicting interests. I see this will happen to PPRP.

Who is encouraging the NACC to release background information that allowed Prawit to get away with his watches excuse? His best brother?

you are a little presumptuous to mention what their ethics are

Sorry.  I really more meant people starting in careers where they thought they would be serving the public  such as in policing and government and then find they must serve a boss and an organisation that is seeking to bend and break the rules to make money.

Firstly, Thailand is not a 3rd world country.

Nearly all of its citizens live like it is.

Others live in a way most citizens of London, Paris or New York would be jealous of.

People who want to better their lives through their intelligence or efforts face unfair obstacles.  They may have to compromise their principles to get anywhere and support a family.

    Sad.

remove from you list all products which you used to buy at 7/11 (it's possible, I never go to 7/11 and mom@pop shops in holidays in an emergency). They are expensive.

    Switch to supermarkets and markets.

I buy at makro - the cheapest. Discounted veg and fruits often at around half price, catering size packaging. My wife use to get before covid to weekend farmers market, now not that often, higher prices, but probably higher quality. So also likes Big C (they are not the CP). So now I do makro, as I can't communicate at markers.

Thai have easier chance to buy from multiple sources - from families in the villages, from neighbours, friends. Each can be a supply chain.

There is no way for me avoiding the CP.

Probably the most important is exposing their monopoly and criticising it. A political action. Solution  will probably come by political means, through through anti monopoly laws. That has chance when thailand become more democratic

.....which will not happen while companies like CP use the present system to protect and expand their interests.

The protesters are clear that their desire for freedom of thought and expression, their future opportunities and a better balance of wealth in the country would all be better served without CP.
