Any student out protesting after 4.00pm may run into trouble so it's best if they go home soon.
Otherwise there may be water cannons or who knows. They've done ok up until now so don't push their luck & spoil it with violence.
'They've done ok up until now'
Thank you for recognizing this. Which of their demands do you approve of and how should they continue, bearing in mind no violence has started with them?

So yes that is the risk, but the benefits of a regular train service between Kunming and Bangkok is quite exciting. It will still go wrong at some point though, no doubt
I would genuinely like to know what benefits you see. Many flights of 5000 baht or less and a flight time of 110 minutes are on offer already.
I would enjoy the journey, but after the fun trip my next trips for business or holidays would be by air. Transporting goods does not need to be done by high speed trains. Many Chinese tourists have very short holidays and want to be somewhere in the quickest way i.e. fly.

'He asked that all sides seek common ground so that they may utilize the country’s democracy to move it forward.'
Fortunately there is someone who can help. His name is Thanathorn and he had a party which has helpfully changed its name.
Future Forward was reborn as the Move Forward Party.

Royal Household Property Bureau
I guess Crown Property then with revenues sent to Germany. For a building to provide staff with air con offices, weekends off, loans and pensions and lots of holidays. Connected people and their friends and families will get nice jobs. Everyone happy then....well everyone that matters anyway in the dinosaur bubble.

The party will not join the coalition, yes.
But it will join a civil "government of national unity" in October, after Prayut will have been told to step down and to go home. There will be some imposed "reconcilation" to re-unify the elite, and Thaksin will be welcomed back to join this "government of national unity" with Pheu Thai.
The elite will be happy as then they are strong enough to counter save the system, Thaksin will be forgiven as he will be loyal to the rest of the elite, he just will be happy that he can come home to spend the rest of his years at home. This is all to fend-off the threat coming from the students protests and Move Forward and to protect the status quo.
The student protesters then will lack the support of the farmers from Isaan as Pheu Thai is part of the government, and unfortunately Move Forward, the only honest party which acts in the interest of the people, will be weakened by this.
Under this "government of national unity" nothing will change, everything will stay as it is. Only the toxic influence of Prayut and Prawit will be finished. They will promise "true democracy, a new constitution, elections. Neither of this will be fair, however.
At least this all is the plan of the elite now. Wanna bet?
potjaman and family donating medical equipment to the King to pass on to the nation. Everyone happy together.
Thaksin reporting his good relationship with the highest institution.
Army has passed to the Kings men after a time of the Eastern Tigers. I still hope the students will get all they deserve, but the forces of 'the good people' may not agree with me what it is they deserve.
The King is due back for a visit longer than a day trip this month. Interesting times.

Why is this picture blurred?
Are you saying this might not be a gun or the public should not be told this man is dangerous and is best
avoided?

When are the Thai government going to address this carnage on the roads. Poor kid.
All the police on inactive posts could be sent to patrol the crossings. Walk with the pedestrians. Take notes on unsafe drivers so they can be warned or punished. Are no CCTV cameras set to record these danger areas?
And public information on TV about the purposes of these crossings so no-one can say they did not know.

Those are the guys who'll be employed to build these mega projects, thus keeping hundreds of thousands in work and off the dole queues (streets).
It is exactly at times like these that governments should spend, especially on long-term infrastructure, which, like previous posters have stated, is long over due here.
There is a huge train station nearly ready to open in Bang Sue, Bangkok.
I am concerned that with no new train lines actually being built it may be very underused for a long time.
I hear of exciting plans. I do not hear of anything happening. Am I wrong?

Maybe Ive missed it, but where is the news thread item covering the important protests in Bangkok today?or are yet more ministerial nonsense announcements considered more suitable to force feed the readership and not risk a support forming to oust the corrupt, thieving, morally bankrupt muppets in uniform
Other sites have pictures and coverage of the protests i could provide the link but im sure the post would quickly vanish in the tvisa Bermuda triangle.
How many posts do we need about hiding in our houses because of the terrible storm on the way or repetitive visa postings when this is what matters now.
So much interest in complaining what Thailand is like and so little interest when people are trying to change it.

Then a few month later didn't it miraculously disappear from the Interpol website?
No serious country could accept an interpol red notice from the judicial system of this place.

Hmm let's recap: China is source of worldwide pandemic. it covers up, initiates campaign of disinformation and profits from the dependence on PPE of the victims. Now it points out the damage caused by the pandemic.
Know what? Pattaya and the rest of the world should hold China responsible for the economic cost of the pandemic.
Instead of trying to bring the Chinese back, Thailand would be better served by keeping them out for 5-10 years or more.
How to be fair?
The CCP deserves condemnation for a number of reasons. The Chinese people may be as good as they can be in a perverse society, I expect, and are unable to change their country as we would like.
If the forces of international law and opinion could be more consistent it would help, but too many power blocks now are not paragons of virtue either.

Dont think the underwater boats will materialise, just like the high speed rail.
Laos' high speed rail seems to frighten off the government.
Governments are widening up about Chines "help'" and investment.
What will be done with the new Bang Sue railway station if no flashy high speed trains are coming after all?

How will visitors from Asean countries be effected by this. Are there reciprocal arrangements for healthcare? Or will they be asked to pay what some say will be expensive fees?
In any case, do they also quarantine for 14 days? The cheap workers coming in from Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar too?
These arrangements can not be only for rich foreign tourists can they?

We should be given awards and free annual visas, easily and quickly expedited. The money reverberates out in countless ways. Even the rural folks benefit. Alot of the nicer houses in the poorer farming areas were built with money from expats. Alot of trucks, cars and income is from expats. Countless business employing many. To say it is insignificant, is a blatant misunderstanding of Thai economics. Thousands of hotels, restaurants, many airlines and many tour companies, also benefit.
The average Thai earns how much? 25,000 baht, if that? Yet, I would guess the average expat spends 100,000 baht a month. Some far more. A few less. But, that represents alot of money brought into the country. One would think an episode like Covid, might give these immigration nimwits a chance to gain some humility.
I would say 25000 is pretty well paid.
12000 is OK in many places.
Some who have lost their work are picking up 100 baht a day and free food.

General Cha Cha and his Soldier Boys with more of their nonsense.
It's a loose coalition and like herding cats. Keep one faction happy by making another stupid law and they can stumble on for another month. It can take forever to get these laws chucked out again, though.

Well Singha have tried that with their Est 33 Craft Beer Brew Pubs. Supposedly higher end (more expensive) craft beers which are brewed on site in their pubs. Quite popular with trendy Thais but never going to be mass market given that 90% of the drinking market consists of rural Thais.
They also sell some of their "craft beers" in 7-Eleven now but not that popular - Thailand is not that market.160 baht for a small bottle. Far more in a bar...they do not have to be so expensive if they are the big players.
100 baht for a big bottle and they can do something quality surely?

Taking my time to be reasonable and understanding their desire to curb underage and irresponsible drinking I would like to ask this question.
How seriously have they been prosecuting drunk drivers, underage drinkers or those shops that sold to them?
As a side issue, given the demand for a better quality product, why do Chang, Singha et al only market new brands which are similarly poor instead of blowing the competition out of the water with a truly good, though more expensive, beer.
