Another day and another masterpiece from the TAT... what medication are these folk on?

'TAT plans to design unique packages for groups like LGBTQ, food lovers, those seeking physical or spiritual retreats or even digital nomads'

Isn't this the kind of things travel companies do?  And they don't need a government funded budget.

Disband them now.  And then consider what use the Tourist Police are.

I thought the rumour was he’d be pushed out at the beginning of December for living on an army compound even though he’s ‘officially’ not in the army anymore.

Apparently it’s a way of saving face for him. Not sure how being kicked out of office for a very basic oversight is saving face - just confirms that with oversights like this that he was grossly inept and should never have been allowed to be in his position.

Prem stayed in his army house until the end of his very long life.  Another one of these laws to use as required, I think.

  3. Clever.

Fight water cannons laced with tear gas with water pistols.

Face rubber bullets and storm troopers with rubber ducks.

The world media will get bored very quickly with 'Prayuth, ork pai.'  Thai media is reluctant.

When the politicians pretend to debate in chambers that are almost empty it should be obvious to the world who should be supported.

The call today was for 1 million supporters.  How many was it?

Thank you. But, it will be used an an excuse. Anything other than taking personal responsibility for the problems they created, will be used extensively. Same applies to Chiang Mai (massive over development, and horrendous traffic and air quality) Phuket, and Samui.

These issues and problems were becoming apparent long before Covid. And none were being addressed. Tourism had been declining for years already. The numbers were up. But the quality of tourist was way down. And according to everyone I spoke to last year, the year before and the year before that, income was way, way down. So, "this blame it all on Covid scenario" is somewhat disengenuous. Sure, Covid is huge. And the drop now is stunning. But, my point is there were plenty of issues prior to Covid. And are any of them being addressed?

Major changes need to be made, if Thailand wants to continue to enjoy the cash cow of tourism. Travelers these days simply have too many choices. Creativity is required. Progress needs to be made. Thailand cannot continue to be one of the least progressive nations on earth, and expect foreigners to tolerate that degree of ignorance. These seeds were planted over a decade ago. The hapless army has accelerated the process dramatically. If Thailand had a smart and competent PM, a qualified health minister, and a slightly intelligent tourism minister, they would stop this nonsense, and realize no tourism program requiring quarantine will ever work. Period. Even without quarantine, the numbers will be relatively small. But, at least it would be something. Testing is the answer for the immediate problems.

The Thai army. Moving Thailand backwards, and inflicting untold pain on it's people. Time to go, guys. The people need competency, and they are speaking loudly now.

It maybe the way is being prepared for Prayuth to leave with some honour and give an illusion that the situations are being addressed.

'Prime Minister General Prayut Chan o-cha said on Monday that he is willing to accept the Constitutional Court’s decision if they found him to be guilty of living in an army house and thus disqualifying him from office.'

Thai Enquirer Erich Parpart November 16, 2020

It is against regulation to stay in army housing after retirement.

“I have always been following the law and whatever the law said I will follow,” Prayut said on Monday.

I found the opposite - national parks tend to be delapitated, over priced, largely deserted and trash everywhere with lazy thais sleeping.  Obviously ive gone to the wrong national parks!

And who would camp with a bunch of lemurs running around.  Oh that sounds like fun, having those animals trying to claw their way into your tent.

I remember recent reports the government was  looking into ending double pricing.  How much time do they need? One for you Deputy PM Wisanu Kruangam?

I take it he must be referring to our illustrious leader and his fake news in 2017 that the Chinese High Speed train would be up and running Bangkok to Korat by 2021.

Or his fake news in 2015 that he was personally overseeing a new nationwide emergency number 911.

For some reason it reminds me of Joseph Goebbels:  "If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it."

Or, indeed, that there will be no coup.  Or that he did not want to lead the country.  Or that he had never been a state official.

Also when I run do a HIT workout my heart rate will be elavated and my temperature will increase temporarily especially if I am not in a aircon gym but exercising out side. They going to drive down and throw me in hospital every day to see if I have Covid?

No security cameras are ever working when you want to see what happened - no matter how important.

Tsunami warning buoys float about awaiting batteries.

World record road accidents due to lack of any care......do you really think there will be mass ranks of personnel checking their screens that you are OK?

What, China the country which has the most extensive and reliable high speed network in the world?  36,000 kms of high speed rail which is more than two thirds of the world's total network.

Or are you just a usual TVF "made in China must be bad" basher?

Check how much of it is making any profit.  Some past bosses imprisoned.

USA showing any interest in Thailand maybe connected with Taiwan future issues.  Good to be in the middle with both sides throwing money and kisses  Thailand's way?

Why can't they revert back to the '97 Constitution rather than amend the current Gov/Military Const. ?
Of course this will mean the German tourist won't have his powers over money and BKK military anymore.  But he's already taken the money out of the country ...

The student led protests do need a plan moving forward.  1) to get Phayut and cronies out, 2) how to get a new election, 3) how to remove the current Const. sections that gives the senate so much power, 4) how to move back to a true Constitutional Deleted without military bearance.

    Yes.

I am worried they are losing momentum.  How much longer will crowds gather to shout, 'Prayuth ork pai.'

The police were not too concerned today and the army have been out of sight. It has become dull.

Tomorrow at the German Embassy may stir things and a call for the 1997 Constitution as an interim shortcut would provide focus.

Can he really remove the money?  It is mostly land, businesses, property and the income from them.

    Interested.

Another dumb idea from Thai bureaucrats. The Park is lovely as it is. Sure, plant more trees, but otherwise Thai improvements often end up making things worse.

'Treasury Department and the Royal Thai Army' are surely not the obvious bodies to call upon to improve landscapes and their ideas for museums usually involve letting Thailand know how lucky they are to have the 'institution.'

    Enough of these already.

  11. Sorry to be boring, but I will actually answer the question asked.

If you are near Asoke you can get the MRT or BTS to Morchit where you can get a minibus or microbus (some say safer and more regulated) to Kanchanaburi.  Frequent services.

Or get taxi to Sai Tai Mai (Southern Bus Terminal) for the big bus.

    Have a nice holiday.

once you leave ...  you need COVID COVER on entry ......     geeeze ...   it's an insurance as required and i expect every country soon.

This is what I thought you would say.  You think it's obvious........

Take a look at this from today's Thaiger.

'Here’s an example of some of the costs for packages that vary from 30 days to 1 year. The premiums range from 1,600-4,800 Baht for 30 days of coverage; from 2,880-8,640 Baht for 60 days; from 3,840 – 12,160 Baht for 90 days; from 7,680 – 23,040 Baht for 120 days, and from 14,400 – 43,200 Baht for one year.'

Are you as relaxed about what is required now?

The prime minister also dismissed speculation that the government was planning to impose a curfew and enlarge the state of emergency to cover some other areas outside Bangkok to deal with the escalating anti-government protests.

He said the he will ask the Cabinet during its weekly meeting on Tuesday to consider proposing to Parliament to meet to discuss the current situation.

No hurry, then. Maybe talk about arranging another meeting to discuss preliminary thoughts regarding forming a comitee to await reports from a few sub-comitees.

They’re done at Lad Prao/Chatuchak. A 4 hour occupation and the police stayed away, avoiding dramatic scenes of last night.

Glad they did, but it is interesting.  Must be a lot of power plays going on now.

3 police sacked on Thursday for not doing their duty, and the whole force given the day off today. King still thinks Thailand should not change, Prawit given overall control, but the army not yet apparent.  Prayuth gave a speech warning that anyone could die at any moment and that he can not understand why people are cross because he has not done nothing wrong.

  15. 'An outsider observing Thailand, without knowing who's in charge, would barely notice any difference between life in, say 2012 and 2018.'

Yes, because all non army governments have so feared  the consequences of the army's displeasure they have done nearly everything the army wanted.  They held back from making the radical changes that were needed.
