The more people feel they need to affirm something, the more near the proverbial excrement is to the fan..

Simply put, the pilot should have turned back.
Easy to be general after the battle is over.
Imagine this. You're on a trip to Singapore. 3 quarters of an hour into the flight, the pilot decides to make 180 and go back to Surabaya. You look out of window... yes, it was a little shaky, but just a few clouds, <deleted>?
On landing, you'd raise hell over how dares the b*stard in cockpit ruin your holidays by turning around.
Airline would be flooded with complaints, maybe even lawsuits.
How many of these complaining passengers would think that pilot just saved their lives? Right. None.
Unfortunately the usual "damned if you do, damned if you don't".

The whole concept was DOA from the very beginning.. This part of the world doesn't have the social/political maturity needed for such integration.

i got English manuals after request for both of my vehicles (both Nissan). It took a few weeks but in the meantime I got by with manuals (PDF) downloaded from the internet.
Did you print them all off? I figure there would be at least 200 pages in drivers manual and sat/nav manuals. Not prepared to do that.
No I didn't, I just copied them on a mobile device and referred to them when needed.

Did the mistake to go through Phichit on my way from Chiang Mai to Bangkok (wanted to try an alternate route on my return to BKK). I thought the car will break in pieces, worst roads I've seen in my life.. Seems they never bother repairing the roads after the floods..

Isn't this the same train route where a Greek embassy attaché was killed in a similar way last month?

In another news:
Big Fight On Passenger Plane, Chongqing-to-Hong Kong Flight Almost Turns Back — At 9am, on Air China Flight CA433 from Chongqing to Hong Kong, a dispute occurred between passengers on-board. The cause involved two female passengers in one row being upset with a child behind them being too noisy, with the passenger in the row behind blaming the the front passengers’ seat for affecting them. These several passengers got into a physical fight on the plane over this, with the plane nearly turning back as a result. After arriving in Hong Kong, Hong Kong police immediately intervened to handle the dispute.
(Yes, that is an air kick attempt )
