What do you quantify as being a "big" club though ?

Chelsea are the fourth most successful Club in England since football began and also are in the top six for attendances , since football began .

I suppose that having just seven letters in our name makes us a small club ?

You just don't understand.  Just talk with other Chelsea fans and tell each other what you all believe and no one else accepts.  I remember going to Stamford Bridge in the late seventies and there was more Spurs fans than Chelsea with vast areas of the terraces empty.

I real change in terms of success arrived with russian roubles and you aint kidding anyone anything different and being the recipient of vast sums of cash doesn't not suddenly elevate you from a run of the mill club to what others recognize as a big club. Sorry.

Arsenal are a bigger club that Chelsea too!!

In what way are Leeds a bigger club than Chelsea ?

I provided facts as to why Chelsea are a bigger Club than Spurs .

Your turn to provide some facts about why you feel that Leeds are a bigger Club than Chelsea ?

Are we talking about the number of letters in the name again ?

You are not a big club.  You have though been very successful in the last few years.  You're really better off just having the conversation with other Chelsea fans, you all seem to hold the view that you are a big club.  Bless!!

In the five years prior to Roman showing up , Chelsea had won the F.A cup twice , League cup once , European trophy and were playing in the Champions league and Tottenham won the League cup once and Tottenham were a mid table team .

Chelsea had also developed 3/4's of their stadium in that time .

Chelsea were a bigger Club that Spurs , even before Roman came along

You're funny.  Leeds are a bigger club than Chelsea, even though they have been relegated some fourteen years.  But i suppose you cant see that either!!

Football fans across the country all have a giggle when Chelsea fans try and build an argument that they are a big club. ????

At least Abramovich and the Sheikh attend games occasionally. When have you ever seen Louis at a game even when he was younger?

He's worse than Kroenke. At least Kroenke can be excused for not caring because he's American.

Oh are you trolling for Chelsea today!! How sweet!!

Yes, if you are going by how many letters in a clubs name , Tottenham hotspur are a huge club , biggest , longest name in London

Trophies and supporters , less than 30 000 at the last home game , not such a big Club

I really think Chavs and City fans should just keep their conversations to each other, you know the one, how you were nothing before a super rich person came along and paid for you to win trophies.

And your club really should do something about your fans and the racism thing. Its really quite appalling and seems to be a regular feature wherever you play.

A few points ahead of Liverpool , a "home" game Verses Man city in the League cup final  and a place in the F.A cup fifth round ?

You really could ask for more , if you thought about it a bit harder and set your sights a bit higher

What?  It's a Spurs supporter giving what he considers a realistic take on our season.

Typical chav supporter still suffering from the "small club owned by a sugar daddy syndrome."  Just because a dodgy oligarch throws millions at you to buy some silverware doesn't make you a big club and it never will. Theres a bit more reality for you!!  ????

That late goal was very important . Only 2 points behind City and 7 ahead of Chelsea, you can't ask for more.

Check out next weekends fixtures.  If we can beat Newcastle and other games go our way it could be a very big weekend in terms of top four qualification.  City versus the chavs is coming up after that and you'd have to fancy City despite last weekend choke.

Well that was an interesting turn around and now it starts to look as though Poch was well justified in his FA Cup selection.

    What a funny old week!

Yes its turned itself round hasn't it!!  Poch commits to the club, three points last night and the chavs lost, so we now have a gap to defend our top four slot.

He says he omitted Eriksen from the squad last weekend because he was knackered.  Basically the FA cup was sacrificed for the bigger picture and yes, i think he was right too.

How on earth are we only two points behind City at this stage of the season?!!!!!

  9. Great win for us. Losing with ten minutes to go but we kept going, didn't give up.  This was a game where we were under pressure to get a result and despite another Llorente horror show we did.  This part of the season is simply about getting points. Newcastle up next.

As I was saying why would you waste another 10mil on a forward when you got a class forward like Llorente in your squad. He just needed a bit of game time ????

I was convinced he was a Watford double agent until he scored the winner.

Yes plenty of encouraging news for us.

Forum seems quiet this morning though.

Yes, the Messiah is now human as United's frailties reappear, and what a proper bottle job by City.  Couldn't make this stuff up!! ????

  12. Pochettino has given us a long term verbal commitment.  Screw the cup losses, this is now a very very good week!!

It is also being reported that Harry Kane is returning earlier than expected, although how much earlier is unclear.

I appreciate £10 mil don’t buy you much but by your own admissions Llorente ain’t up to much anyway it wouldn’t take much to improve with out Kane up front.

As well as that a new face can freshen up the dressing room a bit and give everyone a lift and provide at least a little competition for Llorente.

The Lifelong supporter sounded genuinely peeved that he felt

Poch as good as threw away a good trophy opportunity rightly or wrongly.

We have a difficult situation concerning a back up striker. Clearly Llorente can't cut it and will be off at the end of the season. But we have a back up from the academy, Kasaiah Sterling who is nearly ready and has a little game time under his belt.  This lad has a lot of potential, but still very raw.  I think he might just be Kane's back up next season and start the domestic cup games.

I will reiterate, Sterling, Skipp, Amos, Kane, Walker-Peters and Winks will all be in the squad and playing next season.  This is part of the long term strategy and its paying off.  I'm not so sure Pochettino wants to go out in the market for players unless its very specific as we have a wealth of talent coming through which is clear to "nearly" everyone.  We also have stadium debt which needs to be addressed, in the correct manner.  Some Spurs fans need to get real.  The money was invested in the academy knowing that we were going to build a new stadium. It had to be paid for and not having a sheik or an oligarch there had to be a business plan in place.  On top of that costs escalated.

All this talk of spend this, spend that is simply not realistic at the current time.  Arsenal did it their way under Wenger, we'll do it our way under Pochettino.  I did think we were going to get Wilmar Barrios, the Boca juniors midfielder but that went pear shaped but other than that i doubt anything will happen and rather than buy average players i'd rather promote from the academy as we are currently doing.  We are simply facing an extreme time with this injury situation.

I’m a big fan of Poch and what he has done at his disposal shows his class but yesterday I think he got it wrong despite prioritising a top 4 position.

Even despite your injury situation to make 7 changes to a side that lost 4 days earlier was pretty much giving up on any chance of Silverware this year. By not even having Eriksen on the bench, and it doesnt appear he is injured, just rested and with Watford, Leicester and Newcastle your next three games seemed an odd decision. It was a game in the balance and introducing someone of his quality could of changed the game. It was clearly winnable.

Maybe he was trying to send a message upstairs in a weakened version of what Mourinho was doing that he needs more players and at a minimum should spend the money they got for Dembele to freshen things up.

Listenong to the Radio 5 phone in after the game there was a mixed reaction to his decisions with some growing frustrations of being knocked out of 2 competitions in 4 days with some saying they would rather win a trophy than worry about a top 4 finish. One fan for 39 years stating that Poch should go as he has taken them as far as he can and he is a “loser” and you need a winning manager. A bit extreme but there does seems to be a growing divide among the supporters with some losing patience as to which direction the club should be going and what the priorities should be.

I am in agreement with Pochettino with regards to focusing on the league and champions league.  Apart from the super rich who will obviously qualify this is what the rest of us strive for.  Its where you need to be.

However, i do agree with you in thinking that Eriksen's complete omission was a bit much.  He was basically giving the FA cup the finger with that team selection.  Maybe should have shown a little more respect.

Then again, on the flip side, what if Eriksen had gotten injured in a tournament we were not going to take seriously?  And apart from the big spenders that splash the cash how many decent buys are made in january? Not many.  Pochettino was prioritizing the Watford game over the cup tie.  With our injury crisis, the worst i can remember we need players back, not more injured.

Well judging by Foden being a regular quite a few ????  incidentally you constantly ask this question ( do you have alzeimers ? ) and one of us answers so best you go back and have a look at previous posts.

Oh bless he did come out and say something really stupid again......thats three morning in a row now.  Anyway, i've already penned a list for they poster that clearly has the memory span of a goldfish!!!  ????

Alfie, can't you just feel the deeply rooted inadequacies of his posting on the subject. Judging by the lack of knowledge i can only presume he doesn't watch any of our games!!

    Haha yes carms....Foden. :guitar:

In fairness Foden does play at times and is a great prospect.  But its not much of a list is it

I think it what really deepens the inadequacies and builds the "chip on the shoulder" posts of the ones i'm talking about is, the current crop that already contains, Kane, Winks, Skipp, Walker-Peters, Amos and of course Sterling has now made a couple of appearances too that will become more regular.

I won't go on to talk about our academy players that are playing in the league for other clubs or it really will upset them!!

Haven't read any of the previous posts so might be repeating what has already been said. Anyway, i'm livid, ok we have a few injuries to key players but Poch didn't have to play such a weakened team and as soon as i see the team i knew we were going to struggle, one trophy we have a realistic chance of winning and he Farks it, play Eriksen, Lamela, Rose, Winks and rest them in midweek after all the Watford game isn't a must win where as yesterdays game was in my book.Strangely enough i thought we might struggle against Zaha and Townsend but they really didn't give us any problems and in Foyth i think we have found a great replacement for Alderweireld.

I have already posted relating to the selection.  I kind of agree with you and then again i don't.

His selection was in disrespect to the competition.  No doubt.  However we are crippled with key injuries, bigger games approaching and with a priority to top four and the CL.  Palace must have looked al our team sheet and thought we were taking the p*ss out of them and the FA cup!!

Maybe we just shouldn't have turned up and given Palace a pass!!????
