  1. one point i forgot to mention was the real ding dong battle going on between Sanchez and Mitrovic.

And considering Sanchez is only 22yo what a center back he already is but he's going to be a magnificent player in his prime.  He's still learning a lot from Toby i believe but the concerns over Toby's forthcoming departure are fading.  Its the left side we still need to address.

Llorente has as much mobility as a mafia victim in cement shoes. Bring in Crouchie.

Kasaiah Sterling was on the bench.  Poch has to give him a chance.  If he's deemed good enough for the bench surely he's good enough to play.  Llorente is an absolute waste of space.

I'm expecting Sterling to feature in cup games next season so why not start him now?  Chelsea won't know anything about him so that helps.

I'm expecting the same "ish" side on thursday but i want to see Sterling brought in and if Sissoko is still out, a pivot of Dier and Winks.  The way Chelsea are being deployed at the moment if we can nick an early goal we could hold out and go through.  If he played Kante and Hazard in position and gives Giroud a game we are in trouble.  Thats my take anyway.

We need a physio room miracle for Thursday....at least Dier should be able to start.

Did you see Ranieri's face at the end? ????

We know thursday's side already with the possible rotation of Rose.  How can he persist though with Llorente when he was that awful even against the worst defense in the league?

  4. This has become a joke in poor taste.  The missing list gets longer...

Kane, Dele, Son, Sissoko, Lucas Moura, Wanyama.

Most worryingly the players on the list represent three of our four best scoring options and with the hopeless Llorente leading the line we are in deep sh1t!!

I also think its a fair call to suggest the back three selection was forced on Poch whether he wanted it or not due to the unavailability of players in midfield.

Anyway, back to the game.  Poor in the first half, much better in the second half, didn't give up and ended up making ourselves a bit of luck.

On a side note, looking at the constant threat of the impressive Mitrovic made Llorente look an even bigger joke.  I'm hoping Poch will give Sterling a chance.

Chelsea will never have a better chance of turning us over on thursday.

  5. Seems like we're back in the situation of the side picking itself due to the ever mounting injuries.  The only choice he has seems to be at left back.

After the United debacle we really need to win this and keep that cushion!

  6. I noticed that Kazaiah Sterling is not playing for the U23's this weekend. I'm wondering whether we will see him on the bench tomorrow?

Only just turned 20yo  but is highly regarded.  Over recent months he's been integrated more and more with the first team, training sessions.

I also believe theres uncertainty whether Eric Dier will play so presumably Oliver Skipp will start.  No problems with that, he already looks at home at this level.

Heres one for ya carms Guru Tony Cascarino just said on Talksport the Kane injury means it's more likely Pochettino leaves

    Classic!

Or certain comments from pundits that i predicted would be said if we lost to United   "Its clear now that Pochettino has taken this side as far as he can and its time to move on"  ????

  9. So it's a final goodbye to Mousa Dembele.

One of the most naturally talented players i have ever seen. (i won't say how high i regard him in terms of the premier league because i don't wish to start a p*ssing contest) When asked individually who was the best player at the club every single Spurs player said Dembele.  Says it all.

You don't get it, who's talking about gk saving shots, the point is Kane got off 7 shots and was productive all game and was said to have a good game, all this with being in Lindelofs pocket.

So key passes is more meaningful that shots on target, yeah ok

fancy coming out with something like that when spurs had 61 % possession, and for your info key passes for spurs were 16 amongst 9 players, Utds were 9 amongst 5 players.

Mate, your just another bias Utd fan who sees a different game to anyone else, as for working for a stats company, so what, doesn't mean anything .

I'm going to give Rick the benefit of the doubt and suggest that he didn't watch the game, because his interpretations are a thing of wonder and astonishment.

And of course when we lose a game up pops the brume that supports Liverpool, throwing in his banal ill informed garbage!!!????

  11. Just read that Sissoko is out for a month with a groin strain.  That United fixture has proven extremely costly.

This has got to be one of the weirdest seasons, the stadium <deleted> up,  the injuries, Aurier possibly getting banged up, it just doesn't stop!

  12. The game against United really didn't tell us very much that we didn't already know.

Spurs again guilty of not taking their chances, Ashford should have been starting regularly all along, de Gea really is Uniteds best and most important player, still making a case for being the best keeper in the world, Dele and Kane guilty of criminal misses and Ricky,  clearly, judging by his comments on here,  was watching a different game.

I'm not quite sure how United managed to win that but they did and showed great resilience in doing so. De Gea was magnificent.

Having been tipped the nod to this post i took a look and i see that in another attempt to bait me or try make me look stupid you have yet again made a fool of yourself. You have neither the wit of the brains for this stuff.  I won't report you because i'm not a grass but i am getting very sick of your persistent baiting.

So, just so you know in future.....A winger is a wide midfielder!!!  Now, do yourself a favor, go look it up on Wiki and then perhaps remove your reply or the whole forum will be laughing at yet more of your twaddle.

You didn't know a winger is a wide midfield and you have the gall to question my knowledge of the game.

Run along and do your homework.  Just read the Wiki page on a midfielder and stop making a fool of yourself.  I hope thats not too racist for you!!

Well Levy put the price on Ericsson; no-one else. Don't you think that owners and CEOs have a burden of responsibility? Levy has voting rights in the EPL, so I still say he is one of the powers that be. His influence goes beyond the English game because a foreign club has expressed interest in signing Ericsson.

Theres a much bigger picture here than the actions of a solitary chairman!  Anyway, if any player, including Eriksen, wants a move that badly they force a move because they know theres no pint in having a player that doesn't want to play for you.  But thats a separate issue.

Transfer fees, players salaries, revenue generation within the sport...you can put it all down to Daniel Levy if you like but i would contest its more of a global situation.????

  15. 3 minutes ago, champers said:

My point is that price inflation is raging out of control. I wish my meagre assets went up in value like a footballer does. If you knocked £100 million off Ericsson's valuation I reckon that would be a not unreasonable figure in today's market. But £225 million. Really?

i know it's absurd.  Sadly, the powers that be don't seem to want to do anything about it.

Seriously  your knowledge  of football  is in doubt. You were talking about Citys midfield weren't you. Mahrez (plus Sane and Sterling) doesn't play in City's  midfield  - he's  a wide forward, a winger.

I believe the team we fielded against you last season cost a combined 89m.  Did you forget Mahrez? 60m. Anyway, there are some very good buys in there especially in the current market rates.

The cost is relative, especially if you compare it to what PSG and Barcelona have been paying out for a single player, this is agree.

So by my reckoning, that would be 258m.

  18. 17 hours ago, champers said:

£198 million is £27 million less than Spurs's valuation of Cristian Ericsson.

And if our valuation was 250m then it would be even less i suppose.  Your point being?

Or should we value Eriksen at 15m?

  19. 57 minutes ago, mrbojangles said:

I agree that we have a fantastic midfield. I absolutely love seeing them move the ball around. This is approx. what we paid for them:-

    Gundogan £24m

    KdB £55m

    Delph £10m

    Bernado Silva £45m

    David Silva £26

    Foden £0

    Fernandinho £36m

    Zinchenko £2m

So about £198m. Yeah a couple of expensive one's but in the main not that astronomical. I'd also argue that almost every single one of them is or has been worth more than what we paid. We'd probably get about £150m for KdB alone. Obviously Fernandinho and David Silva are aging but our philosophy has never been to buy these players to make money out of selling them but to get their worth out of them on the park. And I sure do think we've had more than our monies worth out of Silva and Fernandinho.

A myth. Otherwise we'd be buying every single top player in the world and smashing transfer records. How many transfer records have we broke again? Non. Those of us who follow City know that yes our owner is mind bogglingly rich but he ALWAYS said he would only initially invest (speeded up by FFP coming in) and that the Club would HAVE to be self sufficient, which we now are. So he invested heavily to give the kick start that was much needed after decades or having nothing and now we have to be self sufficient.

With regards the "concrete evidence". I'm happy to wait for the outcome of the inquiry. IF we have broken any rules, let's see what they are and if ultimately they kick us out of the CL then so be it. I just want to wait for the full facts.

No you haven't bought every top player in the world but you might just want to take a look at your squad again and check out the midfield selection!!!!  No wonder walker looks like he's half decent, i'm surprised you need fullbacks.  its the strongest squad midfield i've ever seen assembled at the cost must have been astronomical.

And announcement that theres concrete evidence means someones going down.  if it doesn't happen then theres something seriously and criminally wrong in my book.  Do you believe everyone has their price?

  21. 10 minutes ago, mrbojangles said:

No Carms. Reminding you of your wealthy status is only used when you post about our wealth. I don't think I have ever mentioned it unless responding to the Spurs lot hypocritical posts.

The truth is, you will always condemn those with more money than you as being unfair but conveniently forget that you are richer than the majority of other football clubs also. It's like you own a BMW 5 Series and condemn those who drive a 7 Series but don't care that  you are richer than the majority of the rest who only own Skoda's. Can you not see the hypocrisy?

Theres no comparison between your wealth and ours.  Yours is endless, a point well made by your owners.

Do you believe your club is run with the parameters of financial accountability? What i find deeply disturbing is that the head of UEFA announced they are in possession of "concrete evidence" that City are in breach of FFP, yes, their words, "concrete evidence" yet six weeks later there has been no sanctions.  Whats that all about?  Theres no ifs or buts about concrete evidence is there!!!

I don't think he's denying it, but honestly, you chaps do want your cake and eat it.  Tell me, are we saint and ravaged buy stadium debt or do we have vast sums of money to buy marquee players like you others do?

Sorry but it has to be one or the other.

same as with our stadium.  it started with us being screwed, a write off season because of the Wembley effect.  hey ho, and now, because its suite, its our advantage.  Please make your minds up.

Funny, but it really seemed to me that those Wolves players were really motivated and up for a first time trip to Wembley!!  i suppose that gave us an advantage too!!!

    You couldn't make it up!

Haven't you not noticed they like to use the 11th richest club argument when it suits then throw in the stadium debt when it suits!!

Truth is, they don't actually know which one gives defense of their sugar daddy syndrome more credibility????

Nice read in the Guardian today on their belief that Pochettino will stay. Makes perfect sense.

In terms of cash generation and signing players being in the CL is paramount....and yes it can make a league game in April more important to a manager than the CL semi final....how crazy is that!!

It's a realization of a sport completely controlled by money.  We don't even need to go into the obvious lack of scruples when it comes to those who are being allowed to flood their money into the sport, that's a whole different issue which has a separate thread.
