  1. Not exactly sure of what Not sure if that is what he meant as a "sitting chair"--to each his won. That's a nice chair from Shoppee--if the shopper is well over weight, such a chair may not be strong enough for him, especially in "recline" mode--how much was that chair on Shoppee? I never saw anything decent for only 1000 baht--made of cheap wood, and thin cushions, maybe, but it will not last long. wheels on it--sounds like he might want a nice office chair that moves around? Years ago, with thai friends, i looked at most furniture shops around chiang mai--from upstairs Index, outside home pro mae hia has small furniture shops, to the small more "thai furniture shops", and Idea also--never really found what i wanted until i gave in and paid Lazy Boy prices--most others that I considered were all in the 8000 to 15,000 range--but, then i wanted comfortable, well-bulit, rocker recliner that also swiveled--with nice fabric cover--color i chose--got it special ordered from Lazy boy, came from Bkk--34,000 baht--but it has lasted and worked beautifully for the last several years.
  2. Not in Chiang Mai. You need them all each time--I just did mine again a few weeks back!
  3. but it does indicate there is a kindle edition--download it!!
  4. the original poster is correct--three months for his vac combo--those of us who got pfizer+pfizer are to wait 6 months after second dose, per the rec of pfizer--however, do read of others being allowed to get a booster sooner--but, also have read the experience of others being denied the booster as it had not yet been the 6 months, Many of us got the two pfizer at McCormick with second dose in mid=Sept range, so now about three months--if anyone knows where to get a booster sooner than the 6 months, please do share.
  5. I agree--of course, not sure what kind of books you are ordering--if regular fiction or non-fiction, then you can download the books on the kindle app.
  6. Exactly, need to apply for a volunteer visa, and getting then the appropriate work permit, and i think your visa application must have the sponsoring organization etc---yes, it is likely true that many volunteer--free of charge--without these things, but, if reported or discovered, one can be subject to fines and deportation--not a risk most retirees want to take--others may not care. It is unfortunate, as there are many who would be eager to share their talents in some form---so, if you do, you should at least know the risk you are taking.
  7. absolutely, if you can find someone to do it for that price, but take a look at it when it returns to see if it is clean and they haven't beaten it to death. Sometimes in the Thai laundries, the care shown with fabric and items is not what we might be used to. Additionally, few of the laundries have any filter system for their water supply, so the water used to wash items is not the cleanest--remember one time in bkk, a laundry i sent things to--it wasn't long before the white athletic socks or bath towels were now a dingy light brown color.
  8. Thank you -- may give it a try--can you tell me where inside CM Ram did you go?
  9. Just recently, I was at big C and they had a promotion on the oversized plastic tubs, but another place to get one and then use it for washing your oversized items and other things is Home Pro or Makkro--they also a variety of plastic tubs from round shaped to almost bathtub shaped--some made for use with construction, but they work perfectly fine for tasks such as yours--then keep it stored away for all sorts of things--btw, don't recall the name of it--but there is what i call a "plastics shop" just south, i think it is, from Index Living mall--it has everything in large items of plastic, reasonably priced--plastic tubs, chairs, stools, the tubs, especially in many colors, sizes and shapes.
  10. Yep, that is the best course, then hang dry in the sun and you're all set! Especially possible if you have some help to do it.
  11. Yes, that is what I have been told also.
  12. It appears that those who got the pfizer and pfizer, as many did at McCormickj hospital, are expected to wait for 6 months from second dose for a booster as that is the Pfizer recommended timeframe. However, many and myself included, would like to get a booster now, but several of my friends were turned away as they, like most from McCormick, are only about 4 months from second dose.
  13. Were you able to book by phone or had to go in person? Also, can you share what your previous vaccinations were and what time period since your second dose.? I ask again, as I know some expat friends and I are about near 4 months since our second dose of Pfizer, and have been turned away since it was not the recommended 6 months--but, we would like to get a booster now, if possible. Thanks
  14. That's good to know--did they ask for any paperwork or documentation of your previous vaccinations or did you have to present your passport?
  15. Yes, that is what has stated at the various locations providing boosters--it indicates that they will provide a Moderna booster for those having received the 2 Pfizer doses, I have read that Moderna. when used as a booster, has a reduced amt of vaccine--while the Pfizer, when used as a booster, has the same amt of vaccine. And it was recommended that those getting the Moderna make certain one is getting the correct amt of vaccine for their booster--I am assuming, but cannot be sure, that Thailand is administering the Moderna boosters along those guidelines?
  16. i also got the 2 pfizer vaccinations, and it has been just over 3 months since the second. It is my understanding that here they are following the Pfizer recommendation of 6 months after the second dose before receiving a booster. All the other combos appear to qualify for a booster. I had several expat friends tell me they were turned away for a booster at some of the recent locations giving boosters to the Sinovac/Sinopharm/AZ vaccinated.
  17. It appears you haven't done much reading--there is a great deal out now on mixing the vaccines for the booster--and most of my expat and Thai friends are eager to get a booster when one is avaiable or free or not too expensive. If you run with a crowd of anti-vax, then that view is a bit warped from reality--if not that, then do some more research.
  18. While I now recommend Dr. V at Ram, as many others here have, I also believe that Dr. Siri is very good. I say this as I visited him at the private clinic one night, and it was an interesting experience to say the least.
  19. You mention an "allergy" to the vaccine--can you share what that is? Doctors here have verified that? Traveling without vaccination will be more complicated and will endanger you and others near you.
  20. Ok, thanks, i guess you understood, I wasn't suggesting one share ideas about "Fairy Dust", but legitimate questions about one's medical situation. To operate or not to operate is itself usually prompts a serious discussion as to what the consequences to each choice.
  21. Can I ask if he was open to discussion of any potential problems or treatment options? I ask because living in Thailand for over 20 years, i find some of the top professionals similar to how doctors' attitudes used to be in the US many years ago--which is they don't like to talk much, don't like questions or suggestions about something you've seen or read about one's medical situation. In recent years, i have seen some improvement in specialists I have visited, but also, at times, a resistance to any questions that might seem to suggest something different that what the doctor has just stated. Certainly, language plays a large part in this, but most top specialists speak English and Thai, of course, very well.
  22. I am registered on those two also--and nothing. Originally, i read the news articles that said 10% of the initial donation of 1.5 million pfizer doses were to be distributed to foreigners in Thailand. Then, yesterday, there was an article that it will be only 5% of the doses provided to foreigners. And, as you probably know, another 1 million donated doses from the US have also arrived, bringing the total up to 2,5 million. This was several weeks ago--and i had enrolled on expatvac as that was suggested as the best way to get a pfizer vac--I am also registered on the wall--and have registered, but not paid or heard anymore, for moderna doses. I have just gone to the US Embassy site and will register. Thanks for the earlier information.
  23. To get this embassy email, do you need to be registered with the embassy as US citizen? Also, did it indicate in what area of the hospital to go to for this "walk in" Thank you
