I'd boot into Linux (yes, make a bootable usb) and pull all the personal data onto the usb. Place a folder beforehand on the stick and call the folder: autorun.inf

Reformat

Reinstall

Go to ninite.com and install your fave programs. Try MS Essentials instead of Avast. DL Spybot, Malwarebytes and SAS for good measure. Also dl GMER from its site and Kasperskys free rootkit killer.

If you have one virus, reformat! Who knows whats living on the drive!

When you get it up and running, get rid of Vista.

You get a Dos prompt so appears the hdd is spinning. It may be damaged? Can you run a few commands like have a look at the directories, etc...?

Reboot and hit F8 to get into safe mode

Run the diagnostic and reboot.

Remove any data on your machine and install W7

If you cannot get it to boot, make sure you dvd works.

Buy Win 7. Buy a one disk solution, not an installer with lots of programs.

Install it

Delete the hard drive, reformat and install.

Could happen to any os I guess, not surprised its Vista. Nothing but problems.

You will need to download other drivers as well like bt, touchpad, hotkeys, kbfilters and other hdd drivers.

For software go to ninite.com and install from there. Its got all.the basics. Great dite and faxt dl of most popular progs.

Take it to Pantip, maybe its just sometbing simple like IC circuit or less.

You might have it confiscated when you go back. If any security <deleted> wants to turn it on, youre sunk.

As DigitalChromakey and Dave's wife believes but does not know with any certainty is if a married person (or any other person, is it not a public record?). Has the ability to get a "new" kr2 simply by asking for it.

If they would not issue to public or divorcees, in the case of the latter, I would think the form must be deleted or marked somehow so that it would not be issued. As we know, Thailand is not very plugged in if they did not kill off the kr2 upon divorce, it would live on and any bureaucrat would not be the wiser.

I find this examination of the bureaucracy quite interesting.

If a person can.get a kr2 after divorce, then it truly goes examplifies the meaningless of the excercise.

In its essence then, the form does not change. The act and your ability to obtain the form is what (appears to) validate the marriage.

In the end, it is quite sad that the bureaucrat with all your paperwork and you being burdened by jail and expulsion, would lie on a visa application - prize, to stay one year with reporting in "the Land o Smiles". Not to mention that merely after your divorce your marriage is nullified regardless.

This country needs the rule of law in the worst way. Baring that, guidelines might work. Baring that perhaps they can simply go with a flow chart.

This excercise then is a TOTAL pantload.

Nothing is "updated" you are simply given the same old form, with new dates stamped on it.

If this is true, it is total incompetence. The only caveat would be if they would not give you the form if you had been divorced. The simplest way they could do.this is as part of the divorce paperwork, nullify the form and not provide it if requested.

But I am very much suspecting this form.doesnt change and sending you for a "new" one is quite suspect unless and only kr2 are not provided to divorcees. If you can get a copy after divorce (and you should be able to, even if it is stammped null and void).

My hunch is the kr2 electronic looks nothing like the original, it is not actually your kr2 but rather...your info data entered into computer form. Same info - but minus the essential signatures at best. But somehow amended to show current marital.status.

I'm hoping somehow its just a copy of the original in every way but the seals, chops and dates current. Meaning its just all bs. That there is no "updated status".

Can someone with a "new" kr2 pls compare it to the "old". I'm very interested to know the difference. It's going to lack the signatures, that's certain. I don't even know how it could be called a kr2 in that it must be so different as to be at best amended. Maybe like kr2a.

You still seem to be confusing the Kor Ror 2 marriage registry which is nothing more than a printed out form that can be done at any Amphoe with the Kor Ror 3 which is the pretty marriage certificate you each got when you registered your marriage.

Our form has a number of signatures. I showed it to my wife as she was getting reaxy for work and did not give it a very through look but there does not appear to be any area for adding or checking or placing information or checkbox sucj as ...couple is still actively married.

Honestly, for me it was. I came to Asia on a holiday 20 years ago. Both Angkor Wat and Pagan (Cambodia and Myanmar) opened for first time since forever. It was a childhood dream to visit these places as well as "Saigon".

I was so impressed, I quit my job and moved to Cambodia (94-96). Thailand just seemed like a big bore (save for the islands). I visited Lao mid nineties on and made addlntrips to Myanmar, Vietnam, India and N Pakistan.

Thailand was always just a base that I had to circuit out of. The only big plus for me,the food and the islands. My first trip in Thailand was around 98 and I found it just as dull as my initial recon suggested.

I came to depend more on Thailand as I aged and the backpacker trail became overburdened by whiny overindulgent children looking for a party rather than having any sense of real adventure.

Should have kept going, far afield, but I was getting old.

Settled in Thailand but still long periods in Indonesia, N India and US.

Lopburi, you have stated that updated KR2 sometimes requirement for extensions but much of this thread discusses new form for O visa multi (Savan), does it not?

I need to make a new visa quite early, so my KR2 will only be 11mos old. I will.be going again to Savan, Should I make a new form? We will be leaving aboutva week after for US so I have no margin for error.
